As long as the grill has not been changed, it is an M. An M has the FARMALL emblem on the front, Super M has an IH emblem. All super tractors have that emblem.
Hi, You have a late fourty's M. The casing numbers end in a letter which tell you the casing year. There was a label on the left side of the clutch housing with actual serial number if it is still there. The M had a 248 cu. inch engine and the super M came with 264 cu. inch engine. The super series had a faster fourth gear. You have an M&W live hydraulic pump and the two way valve assembly. I didn't see the valve assembly to tell you what brand it is. The disk brakes was a spiceal order item. You also have an M&W governor which means that it has 4 fly weights and not the IHC 2 fly weights. That makes the tractor very snappy which would open up the engine quicker when on a pull. I had a super MTA with the M&W governor.
It's easy to tell what year a Farmall is if you know how to read the casting dates on the castings. It looks like there is a "K" on the left axle. Every year had a letter. The M started in 1939 with the letter "I". So if it has the R ,it would make it a 48. But check out all of the casting on the tractor because some things like axles may have been broken over the years and replaced. An example of a casting date looks like this. 6*10*R . This means that the part was casted on June 10th 1948. I hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask me.
Theres a tag on the side of the bellhousing on my M. It would have a SM if its a super, which looks like it might be because it has a live hydraulic pump by the distributer and disc brakes instead of band brakes. It would be an early one if the seat is original. They started putting the battery under the seat I believe. The Supers werent made in the 40s though. I think they were made in 52-54.
The tractor is revivable. Some think when the motor is seized it's done and that's just not true. Some comments say scrap and parts tractor. I don't think so.
It is definitely a regular M. The Super Ms have disc brakes from the factory. The M originally had band brakes. These brakes are not original, they are aftermarket. The Super M has a different engine. The part number on the right hand side of the block is 6722DJ, I believe on a regular M and 356980R1 on a Super. Also this tractor is equipped with the third brush generator and cut out. That means it was built 1939-early 1950. The later Ms and all of the Supers had a different charging system. As for the year I got 2 conflicting tidbits of information just by watching the video. On the left axle housing, the date code is 8 10 K. That indicates the tractor is a 1941. On the engine block, it appears that the casting code ends in S. That indicates it's a 1949. My guess is someone put a short block in it at one time, and the tractor is in fact is a 1941. The reason I say it's a short block is it has the large oil filter. That is correct for a 1941, but a 1949 would have the small filter. I can tell you for sure the year if you give me the serial number. The serial plate is on the left side of the clutch housing and is visible at the 2:25 mark. The serial number would start with FBK. It appears that you're stuck in second gear, and if that's the gear you tried to turn it over in, no wonder it wouldn't turn over. there's a pin in the gearshift and I believe you have to drive them from the inside out to remove them. The lever you were playing with at the 4:15 mark is the belt pulley engagement lever. The drum you were talking about is the belt pulley for remotely driving implements.
Looks like you have a Heisler 9 speed in your tractor. Thats the lever on the left. The lever on the right you were not sure about is the belt pully. The pto lever is actually the one behind the seat. The disk brakes you have may be a set of Lambert aftermarket brakes.
The vin will tell all if you type in farmall m and pull up tractor data they have a vin section and just look passed of that and on the vin tag it should say M or SM

It may have been commented already but the super was just ‘53 and ‘54.

If its a 47 its a regular m from my understanding as i have a 49 but i think 51 or 52 was the super m years
