I could cut and paste collector on the corners exact comments about our dads farming
with H & M's . Back to the video. But all those memories of helping our dad dairy farm with
with H's and M's is just unforgettable

In 1956, my dad traded his original Farmall H for a used 1949 "M". I know that I put more hours on that tractor than any other in his fleet. I plowed, disked, cultivated, chopped stalks and did other odd jobs around the farm. I enlisted in the USAF in 1963; 3 years later, he traded the M for a very nice used 450. Even though the 450 was a big improvement, I still missed firing up the old M. Thanks for your video and my best to you.

I would just a soon have a M as the 450. Those disk brakes dont work well in our region with our steep hills.

Beautiful tractor. Deserves a good life with some cosmetic and paint work. At 12yo my 1st was a ''H''. Wow that was exciting. It was the best starting machine I've even seen. Pull the throttle back about an inch and would start 1st turn over, every time.

Just subscribed and liked. Dad Farmed with H and M's. We have many Letter series Farmalls. 5 are M's.

Both my great grandpas farmed with Ms. One had horses, a F20, and the M that I still have. The other just had a M. They are well built tractors for sure.

My first tractor I drove most was a JD 3020 with a 4 x16 plow. The oldest tractor we had on the farm that I drove was a Massey Harris 44. Great video and so cool 4 generations!

I worked for a guy that used a 3020. Great tractor! I was impressed by how tight it could turn even with a wide front!

@@turnindirtandwrenches Absolutely, out of all the tractors grandpa had it was certainly the most versatile. As time went on we used it for planting, cultivating. He also had 2 @1135 MF he used for disking and the bigger equipment. I think back and since he had so many MF tractors that is what I would always think of when thinking of restoring a tractor. But in all truth, the JD 3020 is the tractor I spent the most time on and was the best tractor he ever bought for the time period. Jeff

I've spent more time on a 4020 then a 3020. But they're both very similar and both very good tractors.

My first tractor was a '41 Ford 9N. I was three when my grandpa let me park it in the barn when he got done mowing with it. It died in 2015 out of the blue. I started working on tractors and machines in 2021 I was 15 and started on an International Cub Cadet 149. After I got it running I wanted to work on something else, so I pulled the Ford out of the barn and replaced the camshaft and gear, put a brand new set of valves in it, new gas tank, and now I need to tear it back apart and put rings in it.

I like those old fords. I mow with a 51 Ford 8n. They are powerful for their size and the 3pt makes them very handy for many jobs. Good luck on your 9n!

Same engine .. but ours could Ron on power kerosene when warmed up
Gas was hard to get sometimes after the war I guess
It was the first tractor I drove as a kid !!!

I've seen some gas/kerosene tractors here, but never an AOS 6! Neat tractor!

If you want to put a good loader on, mount a pump on the frame, driven from the crank shaft. So much faster, better response, the pump driver by cam shaft does not the rate of flow or pressure needed to have responsive loader. Belly pump is not live. I started driving a 1936 RC case in about 53-54, I'll be 72 in a couple months. About 10 years ago I bought an M with a Dual 250 loader with crank shaft driven pump, had to replace it, completely worn out. The new pump 3000 psi and the flow about 30 gpm. I don't want to have a pto, not live.

so the fisrt tractor ive driven is my grandpas massey ferguson 595. i work it only 80-100 hours a year its just for the cultivating. my grandpa bought it in 1992 its the second owner and the first didnt treated well and it threw all the problems to his face with the money he spent he could easily buy a better one, but it is what it is. I drove it first time in 2013 when i was 13 years old and yeah im the only one who works it, my dad is disgusted by it and all the issues it threw but hey thats what was available and cheap at the tiime

All you need to now is install a Sherman step up 9 speed transmission, and you will a super tractor.

The pre-cleaner is aftermarket, we collect those as we part out tractors with the hope we can have one on all of the keepers lol. Neat old tractor. We’ve got 2 on the farm now and two slated for builds probably next year, a ‘39 and a 52 SM
    Love the old red

That's interesting. My owners manual shows that air cleaner and how to service it. Maybe dealer installed option.

    • @joshweiss3911

Not aftermarket. They were built by a company other than IH but installed at the factory. It was an option though wether you got the pre cleaner or not.
