Before anyone else flips their bike, the best advice I can give is don't clutch the bike up the whole way like in this video. Only use the clutch to pop the wheel the first foot, then use throttle to bring it up the rest of the way under control. Too many learners clutch it up the whole way and get it wrong one time and flip the bike. Learn to use the brake to control the height as well, it's a good habit because it'll save your ass if you go too far.

@@satj8539 I know its a late response, but no, you don't need the clutch on an MT07 to wheelie. 1st will come up at 15-20mph with a twist of the wrist. 2nd will come up at 35-40 with a pull on the bars and a twist. Clutch is supposed to be better, but when I try, it shoots up too fast.

I usually clutch up 2nd and 3rd and stay away from 1st for right now. If you are into parking lot stunting then 1st is for you, otherwise just wait until 2nd. The biggest thing you have to overcome with wheelies is fear. My first attempt at clutching up in second brought it right up a few feet. but at least that broke some of the fear.
Also trust me 7:45 iis far from balance point. Every day it took me more and more I thought I was at it but was far. Until your forks are even with the horizon you are not there.
Mike V Right.... def not near balance point. He was chasing the wheelie still. Balance point you can be steady on throttle and use rear brake and not chase it.
I just started doing small pops on mine today. gradually gave it more gas. I thought I would shit myself but its really fun to pop wheelies on this thing. I guess knowing how to wheelie on my mountain bike helps a little bit with the balance.
To me whenever I try, it seems like everything happens so fast my brain goes blank and I can’t think straight. Probably just the fear of looping it I guess ?
Trust me, your brain really goes blank when at balance point, which this guy isn't even close to being at. You won't be use to it and freeze, forget what to do, because it freaks you out. It's like you gotta fall a few times to really get it. Which is why you should start on a small bike, like a Grom or 110.
I'm the same way, that's why I have been practicing wheelies without the clutch. Go 15-20mph on an MT07 and just crank the throttle, it comes up, but doesn't shoot up like a clutch drop.
i run a completely stock fz-07 i found that 18-25 mph in second was my sweet spot for wheelies, but i used to twist the throttle like you do when I wheelied so i am trying to teach myself not to close the throttle as much once i get it up, it helps finding balance point a little smoother and it just results in smoother wheelies in my opinion
Inspired to start practicing! Thanks! Two comments -practicing with the clutch seems a good dilligent method to get to know the fz better, rather than just skipping straight to throttling up. You learn more control this way. - I wish I had paid more attention when you pointed out the sweet spot in the saddle, in the groove before the back seat. just 2 of my tips, is 1. when you pop the front end up dont lean forward and hug th bike you need to lean back an be relaxed. 2. you will know youre at balance point once you start looking under the handle bars to see where youre going if youre looking over the tire youre not even near balance point
I have to wear the same type of wrist protector on FZ 07 too. If I'm riding stop and go in town allot, my wrist starts hurting like a mother from clutching. Great video man!
The technique you use with the clutch having it set out really far and using 2 fingers actually helps a lot i got my mt07 up in 3rd gear 4th or 5th try thanks
This, I hate to say it but it's "safe" in second. Third is safe but I got up to a speed where I got speed wobbles and wiped out. It was my fault but it got sketchy once I was going like 60. The bike is super wiggly at higher speed IMO. I personally wouldn't do thirds again unless I was hitting balance point and had a steering dampener. I'm too scared to do it again but can hit seconds all day.
2nd gear straight up power wheelie. 30 mph grab a little handful and the front wheel will come up. 3 gear clutch up at about 40. Grab the clutch twist the gas and dump the clutch. Just posted both kinds.

@@1up_doug The speed wobble happened when setting it down not while riding it. If you set it down with the wheel cocked youre going to have a bad time.
to everyone saying there is no need for a clutch up you are prolly chasing wheelies like this dude. i have a few videos showing what power up wheelies do and unless you grab a ton of rear brake after a power up you end up chasing the wheelie. clutch the bike up a few times and get used to the fast upward motion. once you get that feel start finding the balance point. i have an fz and it is very straight up. hover the rear brake and go slow. dropping it at 15 mph is better than 35 trust me. you wanna clutch bike for stunting bc ur going to work the motor less and pick the front end up faster while using less of ur rpm range. i can clutch the bike up at 5mph and wheelie at a soild 10mph managing the brake before the bike gets past 6k. power ups in first, by the time ur bar enough back the bike is at 30mph and slowing urself down is 20x harder. get a cage and drop the bike a few times. they are cheao parts just go for it lol
I'm 230, and have a tune and hordpower, yet at no point in any gear do I feel the ability to power up wheelie. , intimidating starting out the clutch ups but good video good advise thanks. 👌
People need to understand the clutch adjustment is not the same as suspension adjustments (made to taste) Its like chain tension. Youre essentially setting how much it separates the plates and you can make it slip or drag with the wrong adjustments. A dragging clutch will make gear changes feel really harsh. There is a set range and anything outside of that will be bad for the disks. If you can make your adjustments and stay within the 10-15mm freeplay range then more power to you
my mt07 was scared a little bit when the first accidental wheelie occoured :D its realy high up, i accidentaly stomped the rear and hit my most precious limb:D nowadays i try to power wheelies to get me comfortable and its working, yesterday i was a bit hard on the gas from the light with my wife on the back and i was able to control the whole thing. She was scared a little bit, me to because she is on my back, but its ended a safe halfway up power wheelie trough 1st gear :D
3rd gear at 45~48 is doable but you basically have to red line it and give it a little jerk. It doesn’t come up as fast as it does in first or second but if you ride it out it will come up. My bike has an r6 throttle tube and full yoshi exhaust not sure how much difference in power that makes from stock. Also don’t cut the throttle when you drop the clutch keep rolling on the throttle.
I dont own this bike, but there should be two adjustment points. Where the cable connects to the case(engine) and at the lever it's self. Watch a how to on TH-cam so you don mess it up. Knowing to adjust your cable is very important.
have to say I'm surprised at the ease of this bike lifting....I got a Suz GSX S1000 and it has twice the power and it still needs fairly much input to lift like this bike. Nice vid man
I've been having trouble clutching up. I've gotten to the point where I literally drop the clutch at 6k rpm in second gear and the front doesn't come up an inch (going ~35 mph). Also, full throttle in first gear from a dig barely raises the wheel off the ground. To the point where I never need to modulate throttle when taking off, just lean forward a bit and there's no way the bike will wheelie in first. I module throttle while letting the clutch out, then I'm just pinned the entire way from 4k-redline in first with no lift. I'm 6'4'' about 180lbs in gear. Any tips? I'm about 75% stiff on the rear spring, maybe I should try going to 100%... I haven't had issues with a few dirt bikes over the past few years.
I have an m4 slip on with no tune and my bike will easily do a double backflip in first gear if I give it too much and I weigh the same as you. Try scooting your butt as far back as you can. Also you can try abruptly cutting the throttle so the front forks compress and then quickly get back on throttle and it should come up but I never have to do that in first. Also in second just give it more RPMs almost to redline if you must but I'm still learning clutch ups in second so I'm not sure.
@@ToxicF4TE Thanks for the tips. I can power up in first if I sit back and really try, but it's not very useful since I just run out of RPMs. I just had the impression that this bike wants to loop without clutching up, and that hasn't been my experience. I'll keep raising the RPM in 2nd little by little and see how that goes. Thanks again!

CareFreeZ GoPro hero 6 but it has a lot to do with sun exposer and messing with the settings in the GoPro plus I upload the videos to TH-cam in higher resolution then what I filmed it. Reason why most videos you see look digital for a few secs is because TH-cam down grades your Quality so I go higher so that my videos doesn’t do that. But the downside of it is it takes like 8hrs to upload on to TH-cam.
You got like another 2-3 feet until you're at balance point. No where near it really. You gotta be damn near looking at the sky, your tank and fairings will be blocking your view.
for real, most people dont have the balls to lift the bike up that far. i think people would be better off learning how to wheelie a bicycle first than the balance point would feel more comfortable.

I been trying for few days but I haven't changed the clutch tho. but I get a snappy sound and feel on the chain when I let go of the clutch. not sure if it's supposed to be like that. a few times I got it to come up smooth but mostly it's this snap and it don't feel right. I'm not clutching up as fast as u, would it be smoother if the clutch up is done faster?
also tried power wheelies but I have to sit so far back to get it up slightly and it's not comfortable and I don't feel in control of the bike when sitting so far back.
It's at the point where the bike feels kind of weightless. Like it takes a second for it to finally fall back down. Each bike'll be different for that balance point
This is a pretty good video in terms of accurate information. I started out doing 1st gear little pull ups and after a lot of practice I can shift up mid wheelie. Now i can do 6th gear 100 mph wheelies with ease.
Anyone can do a wheelie its good balance that is the hard part.. I was too stupid to keep my right foot ready with the brake when I was young doing dirt bike wheelies ..
Wurst Fighter I’m not a bike guy, I’m a car guy. Wet clutches in bikes are designed to handle a lot of “riding the clutch”. So from what I can tell, it’ll wear your clutch out faster than normal riding, but dropping a clutch in a car will wear the clutch out a lot faster. I think for the most part it’ll be fine for a decently long time.
treven gaida watch the salty chick video I have up towards the end u will see my friend Mikey showing me. You want it where the bike will start to move when your barley pulling in the clutch. Like an inch or 2
The best people to learn from, are the people that have recently learned a new skill. Because they don't forget the little steps in between. Its so easy to miss a detail when you're good at something and trying to teach, that you don't realize the small step that helps perfect that skill or you miss a step because it comes naturally.
13:10 looks like you got good understanding of clutching. Looks like your cutting the throttle too early before its high enough. I would try to stay constant and catch the height with your rear brake. Try to train your self that if you point your toe down(hitting the brake) your bike will go lower and if you raise your toe it will go higher. I modulate the wheelies with the brake.
Mike V thanks for the help. Yea I’ve notice that too. I keep cutting early trying to break that habit but it’s so hard lol. Thanks again with the break going to have to try that.
I’m by no means an expert btw. One day it’s going to click. You’ll just get that one wheelie you ride out and your foot will be doing work you never though it was doing. Took me about a month of non stop wheelies.
Mike V yeah but I don’t want to pick up speed check out my instagram you’ll see my wheelies @jr_bostonbikelife I’m close to balance point but want to get there and stay there without picking up speed to keep the bike up .
you're running out of gear man. you need to give it more gas and lean back and then practice using the rear brake to bring you down. You also need to start holding the throttle steady once you pop it up.
I dont think its a good idea to tell your viewers to pop a clutch in first gear, personally having one of theese its more than enough in first to just hit the gas, i sugest popping the clutch in 2nd. Also its way easyier to use 1 finger to pop the clutch so that you have more grip.
Good video but first and second gear, I don’t even touch the clutch. With the FZ07 you really don’t need to. My best wheelies start in second gear about 20mph. I lean forward while letting go of the throttle and then lean back and walk the bike up with the throttle. I can ride them out for a while.

Hey dude! The video looks really nice, what camera setup fo you use? It looks clearer than most the other gopro setups.
Also the bicycle wheelies make your wrists much tougher.
good job,,i love your humbleness ,,have you considered changing front shock?,,i am doing for handling reasons mainly and hoping it will cushion the down impact ,,stock shock is pretty brutal ,,,may help your wrist some
Bill
Bill Hamilton there’s a lot of things I plan on doing do the bike but I’ve learn to bring the bike down gently now. Once you can do that it feels just right but on the other hand my friend nick changed out he’s and loves it. I guess it just how crazy do you want to go with your bike lol
OH YEAH,,can go crazy for sure,, do you know what Nick did,? new cartridge ?
Great video! What area in america is this? very pretty
How is it balance point when you have to accelerate the whole time or it goes back down?
It's at the point where the bike feels kind of weightless. Like it takes a second for it to finally fall back down. Each bike'll be different for that balance point
Sweet bike. Got the same one. Was wondering if it's hurt your forks? If it does or doesn't how do you check or tell? New to riding so I'm unsure.
Natas N it doesn’t if you would have a problem you would see the folks leak which is really rare. Yamaha makes a solid bike.
FATAL LIFE ok thanks bro.
The most damage you get is worn seals. And if you let the bike down hard, they will wear out faster, from what I have seen.
can i get better gas mileage following this method?
It's all about the feeling...
Yo man I’m 33 and never haven’t rode a bike yet but I taking the course and looking to buy a bike. My question is- mt03 or mt07 for first bike
Mt07
Good vid!!!! Can't wait to try.
Good video dude thanks , I understand balance point now 👌
What kind of oil are you running? Thanks
This is a pretty good video in terms of accurate information. I started out doing 1st gear little pull ups and after a lot of practice I can shift up mid wheelie. Now i can do 6th gear 100 mph wheelies with ease.
10mph, first gear, slam butt on seat, twist gas, don't let off until balance point
Anyone can do a wheelie its good balance that is the hard part.. I was too stupid to keep my right foot ready with the brake when I was young doing dirt bike wheelies ..
Honest review 😁😁👍
Thanks a lot extremely helpful video 🤙🏻
thank you men i learn a lot
ive watched this video over a thousand times!!!!
I thought this video was computer generated at first... what kinda camera is that?
Owen Molloy GoPro hero 6
I like that color. What year is that?
Julian P 2017
thank you bro slow motion realy help !!
Great lesson!!!!!
Holy shit dude, I live in Rochester too lol
Really good tutorial bro. So you don't literally pull up on the handle bars then huh?
No need in first or second gear!
I heard that clutch wheelies are bad for the clutch .... Is it true?
Wurst Fighter I’m not a bike guy, I’m a car guy. Wet clutches in bikes are designed to handle a lot of “riding the clutch”. So from what I can tell, it’ll wear your clutch out faster than normal riding, but dropping a clutch in a car will wear the clutch out a lot faster. I think for the most part it’ll be fine for a decently long time.
Clutch up in 3rd around 30 mph is safer because of stability
I clutch up in 2nd and 3rd even 4th after i installed a full exhaust flash tuned it and dna stage 2 filter
I'm still learning to lift the tire lol im jealous of how high you get. I ride with two other fz riders we are all in Michigan.
I live in Michigan too near Detroit and have an FZ 07 also.
@@austinyates9127 me too!!!!
Any of you guys wanna meet up and ride? I'm in michigan near detroit..
great video
treven gaida thanks
so did you mess with your clutch? like how do you make it to where you ease the clutch out real far back like that?
treven gaida watch the salty chick video I have up towards the end u will see my friend Mikey showing me. You want it where the bike will start to move when your barley pulling in the clutch. Like an inch or 2
Nice video how is John ?
Alex Tuning John is my dad and Ryan on the right side is my son
Nice bro family is all we got ,nice video whit a perfect splaying am driving a ktm duke 390and this video help me a lot thanks
ik this is 1 year ago but , just slightly leave the throttle mid wheelie not the whole throttle + try brake recovery mid wheelie
What year model
The best people to learn from, are the people that have recently learned a new skill. Because they don't forget the little steps in between. Its so easy to miss a detail when you're good at something and trying to teach, that you don't realize the small step that helps perfect that skill or you miss a step because it comes naturally.
275lbs stock 25mph 3rd gear 3-5 rpms bam baby
How to wheelie on a fz07 ? Just fuckin twist the throttle mate , I have a '16 man I can wheelie that thing all day I love it
13:10 looks like you got good understanding of clutching.
Mike V so let’s say I’m in a wheelie instead of chopping the throttle I brake but keep accelerating right? like braking while accelerating ?
JR 92 maintain consistent throttle and drag the rear brake. You don’t have to do this but it helps remind you the brake is there.
Mike V yeah but I don’t want to pick up speed check out my instagram you’ll see my wheelies @jr_bostonbikelife I’m close to balance point but want to get there and stay there without picking up speed to keep the bike up .
thanks for the tutorial its great! uim gonna start practicing more.
also remove that warning sticker lolz
you're running out of gear man. you need to give it more gas and lean back and then practice using the rear brake to bring you down. You also need to start holding the throttle steady once you pop it up.
12:50
Do it with 0.5 speed. you will see it better
Never bother clutching mine, it'll power wheelie in second and third. Probably because that's how I do it on the dirt bikes.
You're a little bit safer learning to clutch up with one finger not two. other than that great video man:)
I dont think its a good idea to tell your viewers to pop a clutch in first gear, personally having one of theese its more than enough in first to just hit the gas, i sugest popping the clutch in 2nd. Also its way easyier to use 1 finger to pop the clutch so that you have more grip.
Covering the rear brake is nice advice, so is wearing full gear😎 Tshirt is for posers right?
This is really good exept i use kp/h
should stop slamming the front down so hard man, throttle on as your wheel comes down. I have a few wheelie vids.
i have a 1000cc bike and weigh 130lbs, still, couldnt pop a wheelie
Liger-Zero lmao you’re a lost cause than
@@Xboxliveyomomma127 🤣
Good video but first and second gear, I don’t even touch the clutch. With the FZ07 you really don’t need to. My best wheelies start in second gear about 20mph. I lean forward while letting go of the throttle and then lean back and walk the bike up with the throttle. I can ride them out for a while.
