It's incredible to think 90% of these Weather mods you compared were created by the same two people. Arindel and Manga club. And to think your eventual winner, Obsidian, was a collaboration between both Authors.
That's why I'm running Enhanced lights and FX interior and exterior with True storms. ELFX enhances the vinilla lighting indoors and makes the sun slightly more intense while giving you realistic lighting on the landscapes and towns and true storms enhances the vinilla weather. I'm happy with it. 😎 all the weather mods have deal breakers that bother me to much. I also turn my in game brightness down till I get my desired contrast that I want. Gamma in skyrim is to high even at default. 🤢🤮

@@darthportus redownload elfx and just select elfx enhanced. Leave the other options alone. Elfx enhanced just relight's interiors. Sounds like the sun lighting is to bright for you. I like it with true storms. But not everyone likes the same weather lighting mods.
Timestamps are fairly pointless anyway since it cycles through each mod several times. You end up having to watch the entire video anyway. Not complaining, BTW. :)
One thing to note Obsidian Mountain Fog can be downloaded as a separate mod and applied to any other weather mods; I use this with Vivid. Seasons are also a cool feature but a bit of a gimmick as at the vanilla timescale you'd have to play for over 1000 hours to cycle through a year in game.
@@aielias89 Looks great in Vivid, never observed flickering. We're both wrong actually. 20 min in game = 1 minute rl = 3 minutes per in game hour = 72 minutes for a full day in game. Works out to 438 hours for a full in game year at default time scale.

I swapped from Vivid Weathers to Obsidian Weathers with True Storms. It was the best decision I made with Skyrim. Also, Rudy ENB works quite well with it. It's very atmospheric. The fog and storms are breathtaking.
I don't get it, but obsidian takes like half of my fps with rudy enb. When disabled obsidian went back to 59 fps. I think like CoT would be more affordable
I'm just getting back into Skryim after a few years away. So far I've found your videos invaluable -- high quality, like Brodual (or what I remember of them), but with a bit more on you judgments, likes and dislikes. Thanks!
I would just like to tell you that I love how you emphasized the purpose and strong points of each of these weather mods. This the exact perfect analysis that I would go looking for if I were struggling with my decision. Seriously good job with this, keep it up! As to what I like - back in my Oldrim days, I kept switching between CoT and Vivid Weathers, they were my absolute favorites, though at times, there were some ENBs that had their own weather enhancements and those were also pretty cool. Now in SE, the one I enjoy the most is Obsidian. You said it, it adds some depth, and also a bit colder and darker atmosphere to it with a very strong fantasy feel, at least for me. It is the exact image of Skyrim that I always picture in my mind when I think of the game, so I guess I got a bit attached. :D I enjoy the fantasy coldness of Dolomite Weathers, but the sharpness is a bit too much for me. So... Obsidian it is. Thank you for this wonderful video!

Obsidian Mountain fog is now it's own mod If anyone wonders. So now you can pick whatever you like and toss in the fog. Not news, maybe. But I thought I'd say that in here. Have a nice day.
I found Vivid Weathers has excellent controls for saturation (like washed out coloring in strong sunlight) and it offers controls for internal lighting as well.
I love these comparison videos! I recently switched from Climates of Tamriel to Vivid Weathers. Going by this video, Vivid is my favorite. I like the deep color saturation and golden glow. Now to find an interior mod that looks as good. I'll be watching that next.
I've only just realised by watching this video, that Vivid Weathers is what's making my trees in the background glow a yellowish colour. 4:28 you can see it on those trees in the middle. And then you see the glowing stop when the next weathers come up.
The big question for me is, "How will it make my LODs look?". If the weather system makes everything bright and vibrant then the LODs are going to look like poo. This can be slightly remedied by dyndolod or sselodgen, and if the color palette is right on whatever mods or ENB you use. But for the best results I found its best to just use something like Obsidian or Rustic Weathers. Darker systems seem to be the best.
After fiddling around with some things I've decided to go with Obsidian with a combination of Aequinoctium weathers via a patch probably going to put the Skyrim Re-Engaged EMB over the top of that should look hella pretty. Thanks for the videos they are helping me mod Skyrim to my hearts content.

@@aielias89 Thanks for the time and work you put for making these videos. I've been modding for almost two years now, i know how hard could it be to keep installing & uninstalling mods to finally figure out which one do you want. Tanx for making my job easy☺🙏
Maaaan True Storms never gets any love, but in my opinion it has the best weathers BY FAR and the best exterior lighting. My lighting and weather mods are these: ELFX, ELFX - Enhancer, ELFX SMIM Performance Patch, ELFX Exteriors, True Storms Special Edition. This combo for me has by far brought the best lighting and weathers.
@@aielias89 Went with Obsidian and True Storms with the spectral patch. Been trying different weather patches before I saw your video but getting most of them collected helped comparing. Like you said this mimics an ENB really well. So well in fact, that I don't need it. Played on PC with an ENB before. Sitting on a xbox one x now and this works perfectly. Fantasy filter with 33% weaker sun is my prefered setting next to default. Makes trees and foliage look more real (with a little extra color) when the weather is sunny. Tried Aquenoctium too and loved the dark nights but the rain particles looked horrible in night time . To white in contrast. Went with majestic mountains first, but for me it took away the feeling of playing Skyrim. After 1000 hours I guess those old clunky original mountains feels more like "home". So removed it. Skyland is enough. Thanks again. Have a nice day(s).
I use vivid weather's, climates of tamreiel, and true storms in that order and it works and looks amazing! Gives the game great ambient lighting and drastically boosts volumetrics
@@aielias89 it works try it for yourself. Mod author's always say they won't be compatible with one another but that is just a liability reason incase a crash somehow breaks their computer. Just make sure vivid weather is above COT and true storms you are golden. All three mods work very well together and it creates extremely thick an volumetric lighting and God rays but also still look very realistic. If I had to compare the lighting quality it's very similar to Red dead 2 if you can believe that. Just try it out you have nothing to loose.
(On PS4/5) I used to use Rustic Weathers and Lighting and liked it okay. Tried Surreal Lighting (not featured here) once and it was way, way too much for me. So then I discovered Obsidian Weathers (PS4/5 does not have access to the seasons part) and was completely blown away. The first time I started a new game with Obsidian, it felt like I was playing a brand new game. It is now the only weather/outdoor lighting mod that I use.
Vivid Weathers is gotta be the most complex one with a shit ton types of weather, awesome day and night sky textures, custom snow, sounds, and it even has a Beyond Skyrim: Bruma support. Although, maybe due to it's complexity, i allways had fps troubles with Vivid. I choose Obsidian because it looks very natural and beautiful and it doesn't impact my game perfomance at the same time. But if i were to play Skyrim SE without ENB i would propably choose Vivid.
hey, i have a question regarding installation of vivid. In the fomod, i have to pick between summer and winter. If I pick one, will I be stuck with that season for the entire playthrough?
Obsidian and True Storms with the patch Spectral. You get the sounds and heavy visual effects from True Storms added and Obsidians Lightning and fog. I like the combo. And it seems Easy on performance. Colouring can always be managed with that tiny mod I've forgotten the name of (Yeah sry). Rainbow looking thumbnail if I recall. Various filters, presets and saturarion and color adjustments in that mod that you can do on the fly. I like Obsidian Default setting though. Edit: Recommended for more a real look, and playing on console (XoneX or XSX or XSS.) Best Lightning I've seen without an ENB. Edit : Display Enhancements is the name of the mod. And also I'm not this confident anymore. Looking into Rustic+True Storms and NAT + True Storms. It never ends....
Ooh...I preferred a lot Obsidian for its vibrant sunny day colours and sky, and for its gloomy storm weather...besides fantastic fog. Aequinoctium has wonderful romantic sunshines and sunsets...almost moving, it might be choosen for this only. But...i must write a thing about both of them...why their night sky, especially galaxy textures, are so blurry? Embarrassing. I love Vivid colour contrast, Dolomite is very seducing with its ethereal day light and rich fog, but finally i would try with NAT, if you look around here and on Nexus, its photorealism is astonishing with the right ENB. For thoose who are going to reach photorealism, definitively NAT.
Honestly, based on the scenes shown, I'd have to agree with your favorite. To me, it looks like Obsidian probably has the best combination of day and night lighting and excellent weather effects. But my question is, what ENB do you use in conjunction with it?
Hei bro! If you're still playing skyrim can you make a comparasion video with the newest updates of noble, skyrim 2017-2019, vivid textures? Or even tress (3d etc etc)
@@aielias89 pick the one with the newest updates :) And keep them coming. These comparasion videos helps people a lot.Specially in skyrim modding cuz there are a lot of good mods in the same category
No Mythical Ages :( . Its a very good weather mod especially when paired with Mythical ENB the look is top notch... then again I can see why perhaps you left it off considering that combo appears in quite a few videos as is. Still a very solid comparison video, I may have to revisit Vivid it looked amazing in a lot of scenes. Currently, I use Obsidian and think it and Mythical are both top notch depending on flavor. Obsidian for slightly more realistic and Mythical for that true fantasy feel.
@@aielias89 Yea the list was long but enjoyable you picked some good spots to show off. I just retested Vivid and I think it may be my new favorite. I love Obsidian but its sunrises have always seemed weak, Vivid on the other hand has some epic sunrises.
From your comparisons Climates of Tamriel and vivid weathers stay the truest to the vanilla look/feel, just boost up details. The other mods change drastically placement of fog, clouds, color temperature. Like if they overwrite vanilla weather, turning an overcast day into a foggy one, kinda weird like if it were totally different days. instead.
Everything’s great until it starts raining or snowing. That’s when things become divisive, IMO. I was running Obsidian and loved it until I realized the rain was just a moving screen of opaque bleh. But I heard you can fix that by tweaking settings and ENB.
Obsidian hands down in my opinion is the best looking mod , thanks for the comparison video it really helped on making a final descion on which weather mod to get 👍🏽

For the best LODs you will have to generate your own with DynDoLOD and create your own billboards so that everything matches.
In Obsidian dragons tried vegetal soup (clouds made of dragon farts).
I feel like if his voice was more flamboyant he'd be talking about the honey badger.
i have been using vivid weathers since oldrim, and i gota say i still think it is my favorite, buuuuuut that obsidian... that looks prity freekin HOT also :D might havre to give it a go also.
COT actually add weathers doesn't replace vanilla ones and gives vanilla weathers small tweaks
Thank you SO much Elias,
You just made my Mod List ☺.
Finally i'm sure what lighting mod (Exterior & Interior ) & ENB i want.🙏
Amazing mod comparisons👍🏻.
Perfect 😊
@@aielias89 Thanks for the time and work you put for making these videos.
I've been modding for almost two years now, i know how hard could it be to keep installing & uninstalling mods to finally figure out which one do you want.
Tanx for making my job easy☺🙏
I've been a mythical ages user for a long time. It felt natural and beautiful, but im looking at dolomite and it's really pulling me in
Maaaan True Storms never gets any love, but in my opinion it has the best weathers BY FAR and the best exterior lighting.
My lighting and weather mods are these: ELFX, ELFX - Enhancer, ELFX SMIM Performance Patch,
ELFX Exteriors, True Storms Special Edition.
This combo for me has by far brought the best lighting and weathers.
Does True Storms work well by itself?
Great video! Thanks for making this - it totally helps my selection process :D
Nice video mate. Very helpful.
Thank you!
I would not recommend using both vivid weather's and COT. I doubt those would play nice with one another as they both touch the vanilla weathers.
Ai Elias if it’s working for him obviously it is
@@aielias89 it works try it for yourself.
Amazing mod video, great work. Very detailed!
Wow, you covered _a lot_ of ground in a very short vid for those of us considering weather mods for the first time. Well done.
Edit: Recommended for more a real look, and playing on console (XoneX or XSX or XSS.)
Best Lightning I've seen without an ENB.
Edit : Display Enhancements is the name of the mod.
And also I'm not this confident anymore. Looking into Rustic+True Storms and NAT + True Storms.
It never ends....
Great showcase - helped me choose a mod!
Z fighting mountains lmao
Pretty accurate description imo
vivid nat and obsidian looks nice im definitely going to try these
Again - excellent stuff also with a useful commentary. Thanks
Thx dude. Very well explained and pretty easy to follow
@@aielias89 Oh, thak you very much for this reply! I'll try doing so. I must suppose disabling that option i'll get fps drop...isn't it?
Thanks for the video! This is the best weather comparison video for sure. 👍
Great video, as always. Thank You. boy, i need to look at the interior lighting as you said as well as some other Mods and their interactions..
From this id like obsidian or rustic for a darker feel or dolomite for a beauty style
Brilliant video man!
When playing with obsidian weathera I get this really weird glow happening during the day and it annoys the heck out of me
Great weather vid
Obsidian + Rustic Modularity 3 of 4: Rain + Wonders of Weather = 👌🏻
Honestly, based on the scenes shown, I'd have to agree with your favorite. To me, it looks like Obsidian probably has the best combination of day and night lighting and excellent weather effects. But my question is, what ENB do you use in conjunction with it?
18:15 how to make a red sky?
Hei bro!
If you're still playing skyrim can you make a comparasion video with the newest updates of noble, skyrim 2017-2019, vivid textures?
Or even tress (3d etc etc)
@@aielias89 pick the one with the newest updates :)
And keep them coming.
Ai Elias maybe a part 2 with mythical if this video gets enough likes?
@@aielias89 Yea the list was long but enjoyable you picked some good spots to show off. I just retested Vivid and I think it may be my new favorite. I love Obsidian but its sunrises have always seemed weak, Vivid on the other hand has some epic sunrises.
Mythical looks the best . However theirs something about surreal
Lighting that’s special
From your comparisons Climates of Tamriel and vivid weathers stay the truest to the vanilla look/feel, just boost up details. The other mods change drastically placement of fog, clouds, color temperature. Like if they overwrite vanilla weather, turning an overcast day into a foggy one, kinda weird like if it were totally different days. instead.
I've been using Dolomite for a long time and it's clarity is just hard to get away from BUT I wish that Purity would make it over to SE.
Everything’s great until it starts raining or snowing. That’s when things become divisive, IMO. I was running Obsidian and loved it until I realized the rain was just a moving screen of opaque bleh. But I heard you can fix that by tweaking settings and ENB.
ENB fixes rain. Wonders of weather adds rain splashes. Thats about all you need imo.
Obsidian hands down in my opinion is the best looking mod , thanks for the comparison video it really helped on making a final descion on which weather mod to get 👍🏽
Obsidian is stupid good :)
you deserve way more subs heres hoping you grow
Great Guide : after several weeks of GamePlay & testing and also watching this Video multiple times, I think I'm happy with the appearance of Skyrim Pc Se 💻 Though my GamePlay is on the Pc, I limited to bethesda website ( issues with Nexus - Only for Skyrim & Fallout 4 😕 ) Mods I've chosen : Cities of Skyrim Retexture Overhaul + static mesh improvements + Realistic waters two + Climates of Tamriel + Lampposts & Torches Lighting mod + enhanced blood textures + Vivid road stones & maps + H.A.S.T.E. 🎮 also mite install Wet & Cold soon 💬 Thanx for all the hardwork & Thanx 4 posting 🎥

Thanx again 🎥
Obsidian + Rudy = hard to beat.
Bout to try Cathedral though. We’ll see
Obsidian and Cathedral are pretty comparable with some minor differences. One might win you over a little more than the other. :)
Dolomite, Obsidian and NAT seem the best to my eyes.
Obsidian: You can now use Clear Sky shout
Been waiting for this
