Saw a few post claiming this isn't Brother Theodore - sorry to burst your bubbles but that man is him. These were made months before his death at 94, he was old and ill and his humour is still as sharp as ever. RIP
I too can attest to the fact that this is Theodore Gottlieb, aka Brother Theodore. These monologue bits were actually recorded as demo bits for MTV around 1998, which had many such interstitial personalities back in the mid to late 90s. The MTV gig never materialized, but the monologue bits were used for Richard Metzger's DISINFORMATION UK Television program (and DVD). There are four of them that were used on the show/dvd, but there are additional outtakes from that session floating around...
I had the pleasure of having Brother Theodore in my cab in the early 80s. He asked about my life & was really interested in what I had to say. I had a social work job hit by Ronald Reagan and he encouraged me that the cab was just a detour. He gave me a pass for his performance in the Village later, but I was unable to attend. He couldn't have been more different from the character (I knew he was only playing) on Johnnie Carson.
What is this? I knew Theodore pretty well & I can assert that this was him in his last days. Visited him many times in his apartment on the upper West Side. This was the real Theodore Gottlieb!

Definitely my favorite Gollum, but Serkis is very close. He really sounds just like Gollum in or out of character. That's wild to me.

I got such a kick out of him on letterman! I was young so his humor was over my head, but I loved him anyway!!! And he was gullum!!!!

I love Brother Theodore he's so dry, he makes me laugh!, and for awile he was making my mum crack up too!.
I know him only from the Movie "The Burbs" and i saw on wikipedia that he was born in Düsseldorf, which is just some minutes from me.
