Today's episode is a response to all the believers using the conflict between Israel and Palestine as ammo for the apocalypse. We do not know when the end of the world is coming. We have never known. We are constantly wrong. These predictions are harmful and pointless. Let's talk about it.

It may or not be the end of the world, but i will say this:
The fact that we have billions of Christians and Muslims and millions of Jews cheering on and believing in these end times prophecies makes it 1000 times more likely to happen.
If we can't reign in these religions, they might try to fulfill their prophecies on purpose.

I do agree that the concern is from self fulfilling prophecy! Just more ammo for why religion is so harmful. Not because its claims are true, because the belief in them is.

As a kid, I used to have nightmares about being left behind after the rapture.
Nightmares about what the end of times are going to be.
Somewhere as a teenager in the '70s, I saw a documentary about the Amarna letters.
    Those little clay tablets.
They had just found a trove of them quite recently and figured out how to translate the texts on them.
They were about 5,000 ish years old.
And they were basically someone's household junk.
    There were butchers bills.
There was a birthday card invitation. It was to someone's sister, lamented how they hadn't seen them in some years and the hoped the children were well.
There was also a notice to a local authority complaining about the state of the streets.
The most heartbreaking one, was a letter to a much higher local authority complaining about his taxes, going to pay for a foreign war that had taken his beloved child.
He didn't understand why he should have to pay his taxes to finance foreign wars that kills children.
    💔
It puts those latter day, end times, fear-mongering nonsense claims into perspective.
5000 years. People were talking about birthdays, paying their food bills, complaining to local politicians about the state of the streets, and complaints about paying taxes for foreign wars that kill children.
    Some things never change.

"I never understood why we just can’t live the life God told us to live and enjoy the time God has given us"
easy. because the g0d never told anything. A b00k SAYS the g0d said stuff. And If you accept that b00k of mythology, then I really hope you cherry pick the right way. DO NOT stone your waiter on a "holy" day, for example. The g0d in that b00k "tells" us to do a lot of disgusting, criminal things.
the time part is easy, too. Basic (at this point, very basic) biology gave us the time we have. No g0d seen in the process. And it really cannot be seen. Ever. For you still have not presented any testable claim about the g0d or its magic.
and, as a non-christian, it always bothered me that you cannot show what the g0d even is. you (the religi0us of any faith) don't even try to present anything. You build a global scam on your rants and you have trained and paid LIARS (priests, pastors, etc) to run that scam.
these MORTALS rant about the AFTERLife, too. Since we all know that they cannot have any experience, any clue about those magical realms, afterlife claims should be outlawed with no exception. And mankind should grow up.

Belief in the end times was probably the most damaging aspect of Christianity for me growing up. I was convinced it was going to happen in my lifetime, so much so that I didn't really think much about what I wanted to do with my life as an adult. But what really added to the fear was wondering if I was a good enough Christian to be raptured before all the real horrors began. I developed a lot of anxiety, constantly questioning myself and believing that God was judging every single thought and action of mine. However, those beliefs were the first I started to deconstruct as I reached adulthood. Not only did I question the absurdity of prophecy, but I came to a question that started to push me away from Christianity: why would any loving god want to instill so much fear and paranoia into a child?

These prophecies are found within the bible, quran, and hadiths, and while some are not to great on their own, the crazy thing is that all these END TIMES prophecies (post-macedonian roman empire prophecy not included) all happened within the last 76 years. An entire 1400 years and in some cases 2500 years of an open window of history for anything to happen, it just so happens to be the case that these prophecies are fulfilled in just 76 years? If this is a coincidence, its the greatest coincidence. If i were you, i would look into the quran 19 code, truth is christ TH-cam channel, and joel richardson's work. Did you know that there was another version of the Revelation 12 sign that happened on September 23rd this year?
Signs are for the Jews and what happened not too long after this sign happened?
      This war happens in Israel.
The last Revelation 12 sign that happened seven years ago in 2017 resulted in Israel acquiring Jerusalem as their capital and that was a benefit for Israel, so the end result of this war in Israel is very likely going to acquire a benefit for the nation of Israel as well that will more than likely lead to the rebuilding of the third temple which is a fulfillment of bible prophecy just like acquiring Jerusalem as the capital was also a fulfillment of bible prophecy.
This war is also happening on a Jubilee year in which land is usually restored to the nation of Israel.
A Jubilee year happens every fifty years and fifty years ago Israel was at war as well and they acquired land as a result of that war's end, so they will very likely acquire land at the end of this war as well because Israel is going to win the war because God is on their side.
These Revelation 12 signs never happened in the past when people have been wrong about the end times, but they are happening now, and I don't believe them to be just coincidences as you more than likely believe them to be.

His argument basically boiled down to the Apocalypse being the process of processing the trauma of the second destruction of the Temple and the sacking of Jerusalem by the Romans. It was the authors' "end of the world" because Jewish civilization as they knew it had ended and their own people started to scatter in all directions of the winds.

"Many passages attributed to Jesus have him predicting the end *within his generation* (“the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15); *“this generation will not pass away* until all these things take place” (Mark 13:30); *“truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes”* (Matthew 10:23); “Truly I say to you, *there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death* until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” (Mark 9:1); "From now on, you shall see the *Son of Man* coming in the clouds..." (Matthew 26:64))."
Jesus as a failed apocalyptic prophet is the general consensus of critical scholarship, *even critical Christian scholars* like Dale Allison. The Son of Man (Jesus himself?) was supposed to be an end of the world arbiter, as Bart Ehrman points out in his lecture referenced below, and as the Bible states he was supposed to come *within the lifetime* of Jesus’s followers. *It didn't happen.*
Read the article from the former Christian apologist and Tim O'Neill (former Christian), who has been studying the scholarship and history for decades, referenced below as well.
*Jesus falsely prophesied his return in the 1st century*
      “Truly I say to you, ***you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes”*** (Matthew 10:23);
For the *Son of man* shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; ***and then he shall reward every man according to his works.***
Truly I tell you, ***some who are standing here will not taste death*** before they see the *Son of Man* coming in his kingdom Matthew 16:27-28
Truly I tell you, ***some who are standing here*** will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God Luke 9:27
Truly I tell you, ***this generation will certainly not pass away*** until all these things have happened Mark 13:30
      The sun will be darkened,
      and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
Then will appear the sign of the *Son of Man* in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the *Son of Man* coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
Truly I tell you, ***this generation will certainly not pass away*** until all these things have happened Matthew 24:29-34
There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the *Son of Man* coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. When you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
Truly I tell you, ***this generation will certainly not pass away*** until all these things have happened Luke 21:25-32
*Jesus promised to return over 2, 000 years ago and he still hasn’t.*
Jesus and the angels never appeared from Heaven, the stars never fell from the sky, none of these things happened. Nothing he prophesied happened.
***Apologists can try to spin this, but the simple fact is that Jesus was either wrong or misquoted.***
According to the Bible that makes Jesus a false prophet or misquoted (and if Jesus is misquoted than the Bible is not inerrant or the word of God)
How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord? If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken Deuteronomy 18:21-22
*Jesus falsely prophesied to the high priest and the Sanhedrin*
Jesus also falsely prophesied to the high priest and the Sanhedrin (assemblies of either twenty-three or seventy-one rabbis appointed to sit as a tribunal)
You will see the *Son of Man* sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and ***coming on the clouds of heaven*** Matthew 26:64 Mark 14:62
Except the high priest and the Sanhedrin never saw Jesus sitting at the right hand side of God, or coming on the clouds of heaven, or any such thing.
      *Jesus falsely prophesied to Nathaniel*
Jesus also falsely prophesied to Nathanael when he declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”
Jesus said, You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that. He then added, ***“Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man*** John 1:50-51
*Nathanael never saw any such thing. Neither did anyone else.*
*"13x Jesus was wrong in the Bible - Life Lessons"*
The following quote from Stephen L. Harris, Professor Emeritus of Humanities and Religious Studies at California State University- Sacramento, completes this point with a devastating argument.
*Jesus did not accomplish what Israel’s prophets said the Messiah was commissioned to do:* He did not deliver the covenant people from their Gentile enemies, reassemble those scattered in the Diaspora, restore the Davidic kingdom, or establish universal peace (cf.Isa. 9:6-7; 11:7-12:16, etc.). Instead of freeing Jews from oppressors and thereby fulfilling God’s ancient promises-for land, nationhood, kingship, and blessing- *Jesus died a “shameful” death, defeated by the very political powers the Messiah was prophesied to overcome.* Indeed, the Hebrew prophets did not foresee that Israel’s savior would be executed as a common criminal by Gentiles, *making Jesus’ crucifixion a “stumbling block” to scripturally literate Jews.* (1 Cor.1:23)

Congrats on 20K!! Thank you so much for making this video. Luckily (if you can call it that) my family holds on to the "we don't know the date or time" of the end of the world verse. But I recently wrote them a letter finally telling them for the first time that I've been doing Bible research and finding deeply upsetting things. Instead of them asking what those things were, they said "You live in a world where the Bible is being twisted by so many people, Jesus said this would happen, and it'l get worse" (Yea I think it's very easy to misinterpret a book composed of mostly unknown authors edited over time) They also said that us (me & my family) being separated by me not talking to them (because I needed some space) is "just what the devil wants, he hates families together. He's here to "rob, steal, and destroy" and I don't want him to have his way." But I just have to keep telling myself that if God was an all-loving God, he wouldn't have created evil or the devil. I'm really struggling with the family part of my deconstruction but I am setting boundaries and trying to prioritize my own mental health. Thank you again for your videos they are extremely helpful!

Thank you for providing a grounding stance on the matter. It's incredibly interesting how far back the echoes of "The end times" bounds through history. As a former Catholic, the End Times is one of those things I've always been disconnected to. To discover Evangelicals and a number of other protestant denominations were essentially glorifying the end disturbs me in a way I have trouble putting into words. Talking to people over the years going through my own struggle in faith, it's put into perspective the reason so many people have religous trauma in the first place and it's over a lot of stuff I didn't even knew occurred in Christianity. One of my coworkers joked about the time in Youth Group the adults and teens all faked the rapture leaving the younger kids in the group to believe they were left behind... The completely and total lack of empathy had had recounting the story about summarizes how all the logic on the rapture really is. Those poor kids... I would even consider such a prank an extreme form of psychological abuse from how the fundamental churches (Which, if they interpret the bible literally, how can they believe in a pretribulation rapture??) treat the event. But even trying to explain to him how messed up such a prank was he couldn't seem to process that sort of thing likely traumatized those poor children. He just saw it as a funny joke which is beyond disturbing.
But back to my Catholic background, we were always taught Revelation was metaphorical and multilayered: not literal. Specifically in regards to Nero when the letters were written which fundamentalists appear to dismiss. Don't get me wrong, the Catholic Church has it's own slew of issues and trauma it inflicted on kids, but it's only been zooming out and seeing how other denominations interpret things does "Religous Trauma" make a lot more sense. I can't imagine growing up in a church where you are essentially waiting to die and constantly having to worry that you might not be good enough and have to face those grim intrusive thoughts of being decapitated if left behind...

Hi Brandon, I have been watching your channel now the past 2 months. Amazing videos! Even though I am still on a tough journey of a total re-evaluation of my belief system which is a painful process .. this video was phenomenal. The first step I took to questioning was actually the rapture. I have always had a huge problem internally with the idea that God would leave billions of his children behind and I had multiple conversations with church leaders and I think what really sealed it for me was when I told people including leadership how I felt ..The response without even missing a beat was.. “why do you care we will be in heaven” I think that was the beginning of me re-evaluating my faith. The uncaring response to people being tortured was so shocking it literally knocked the wind out of me. I have 3 kids and numerous family members and friends that I have always thought if they don’t get raptured then I’d like to opt out and stay behind to be with them. I can’t wrap my mind around caring, loving, compassionate people being OK with billions including the possibility of their own family being tortured while the “Saints”
    Watch.
I let the rapture belief and end times belief go about 6 months ago because it was so cruel. You would think with all the LOVE that Christians profess we would be praying all the time non stop for NO rapture OR at the very least “in our free will” to opt out of the rapture to be with those that don’t make it.
It still makes me feel ill when I hear grown men ( not that their lives are any less important) preach that billions of women and children will not make it and be Ok. Even typing this out I’m haunted that people can really believe this and then go have breakfast after church service ..It’s unacceptable as members of the human race.
    Thanks for these videos!

Luke 21:21 "when you see Jesrysalem being surrounded by armies you will know that it's desolation us near" ironically states the opposite of what is happening is Isreal/Palestinian. Jerusalem is not being "surrounded by armies." They have the backing of the U.S., the U.K. and the bulk of the EU. The U.S. is providing an insane amount of military aid. If any city is in the region being "surrounded by armies," It's Gaza. So shouldn't Christians reading this see it as sign that the end is actually not near?
That and I think they have forgotten all of the end time predictions throughout history

Thank you so so much for this video. I've been feeling my anxiety building watching this all play out, hearing my mother's voice in the back of my mind. Over the course of my childhood, she got more and more emphatic about Jesus' return, telling my sister and I that "it Could be this year". Every year that he doesn't come back is just part of His plan or whatever. I felt the pressure from her that I was supposed to be the one to bring my dad (who I would say is an existential/transcendentalist) to Jesus. She routinely watched more and more videos decoding the "secrets" of Daniel, what kingdoms were going to be the ones that fought in Revelation, and what people would suffer during the Tribulation. (She wasn't even sure herself if there was going to be a Rapture or if believers would be here and unharmed for those events so she would stockpile money and talk about the economic crash coming). Nearly all she watched was End Times related and pressed that my sister and I should be saved, (even though we technically had already declared he was Lord and had been baptized??)
She thankfully moved off to Texas with her new husband, occasionally sending me an email relating to all that, but I thought being away from the church, I wouldn't be totally effected. Then I got a call from one of my friends who told me "Jesus is coming." We hung up and I instantly lay on the bed, caught between panic and shock. These recent events have only made it worse. This video was truly what I needed to remind me what this religion truly started as and hasn't been able to shake off over Centuries. A doomsday cult. You have been so helpful to unwind all the tangled web that my mother left me. Thank you.

One thing about the Euphrates river drying up - this is the 6th bowl that angels spill, two bowls before that are actually more curious:
"The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire."
"The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness."
Those two verses can be easily interpreted as death of the Sun.
I'm sure that the Sun still has a lot of fuel to go by before the end times come xD
Not to mention it's out of order.

My mother also talked about Israel and Hamas fighting and went about her spiel about the end times, apocalypse and sounded giddy, crazy, hell, insane, not crazy, she's such a fanatic and i just look at her with disgust... cause why the hell would you want your children to have their future ruined?! Fanatics... i just want them to stop...

Thank you so much for covering this topic. I don't know many people that can clearly see the loss of innocent life of both sides while also addressing some of the major roots that cause events like these to occur.

@@MindShift-Brandon keep up the great content. I love how you get to the point and explain things. My deconstruction is very intense after 43 years of believing. There are many like me who benefit from channels like yours. Thanks!

Read Matthew 23 and 24 closely - its prophesying the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

Maaaaan, I love this channel. Great video. I have a lot of thoughts about this topic, because as I'm still in the process of deconstructing (always will be, I think), the one thing that I keep circling back to is how absolutely evil and destructive the End-times doctrine is. From useless wars being fought in the name of a deity, to the environmental impact from teaching that the Earth is here just to be used up and thrown away, it makes me feel no small amount of sadness. What a fricken waste of life, religion is.

What kills me about so many of these predictions is that they designate a specific date when even a non-scholar like me knows that Jesus said no one will know the day or hour.

    • @MindShift-Brandon
      @MindShift-Brandon  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Right? Setting a date should instantly disqualify it. In fact that was the loophole i thought i found when i was little. I was so terrified of it that every day i would purposely think. Today is the day so that it would not be the day.
