- In this A day on the farm video, you can see us stacking firewood, making woodchips and spreading slurry on our grassfields.
We stack wood in stacks and leave it like that for about a year, so it dries up before we sell it.
We also made some more woodchips, with which we heat our house. We usually make them in late summer or early autumn but we ran out of them earlier than usual this season, so we collected some already dry wood and made yet around 30 m3 of woodchips.
At the end of this video you can see me spread some more slurry on our grassfields before it started to rain.

Farmer's POV (Point of View) is a channel where I want to share videos of different chores that are going on on our small family farm in Slovenia.
We have 60 heads of cattle, mainly simmetal breed and we milk about 35 of them. We farm in a fairly hilly area so our equpment is relatively small. Currently we own 4 tractors: Fiat DT55-56, New Holland TN70DA, Deutz Fahr Agroplus 85 and John Deere 5085M.
We work around 20 hectares of mainly grass fields and about 2,5 hectares for silage corn.
We also have 7 hectares of forest.
This is probably the most underrated farming channel on TH-cam 😁

Great video, you're always so busy. I haven't yet figured out what you use the split logs for around the farm. I thought it was for a wood furnace but you burn the chips for heat. I will keep watching to see the answer.

Normally we do, but we ran out of woodchips sooner than we expected so we made some more 😉

They are good, easy to work with 🙂 we dont have much land that's suitable for cultivating, so we just stick to corn 🙄
@@farmerspov4709 good what breed would you recommend for a milking herd of about 10 to start with then work up to your scale
Depends on many factors, like what kind of barn do you have, quality and amount of feed, market for bull calves... Holsteins are big, they can give the largest amount of milk but are more demanding and maybe a little less resistant. Good simmentals can give a fair amount of great quality milk and are robust. Brownswiss and Jerseys are friendly cows, smaller frame, good milk production and may be less demanding. These are just my thoughts and experiences, of course there are many good breeds that works different on a different farms, you just have to figure out whats working best for you in your particular environment 😉

Thanks 🙂 yes, from 55 to 85 hp. Well many times we need at least 3 at once and also all our tools are suitable for our current power range 😉

Da, ne znam koliko je koštalo novo, ali mislim da je obnova pre nekoliko godina koštala nešto manje od 1.000 €. Nema problema sa njim, a nakon nekoliko godina počinje da ga napada rđa 🙄

I’d rather not talk about money, but basically, if the price of milk is good, I should earn enough to save some money for unexpected repairs or small investments and for moments when prices are low ... But for larger investments the EU assistance in the form of subsidies is very welcome. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to upgrade the farm 🤔
