I built 3 of these type of ships from the rev war period it took me over 3 years to build one ship very hard work

Never gloss varnish, it doesn't scale. A satin or matt clearcoat spray is all that's required.

Definitely steer away from gloss varnish, it's gross on a model boat.

Can you tell me where you purchased the burnt orange stain from. Cannot seem to find the right color.

Occre has a newer kit of the HMS Endeavour and it is fantastic. It looks a lot like this one, but get it from Cromwell Boats in the UK, it's much cheaper there, by like 50%. And it's better to stain the Wales Dark Walnut instead of painting them. Damn it, STAY AWAY from CA glue, none of those keel parts fit, they are all floating and need sanding to make them fit properly.
