FYI, this perm haircut/hairstyle is literally called “Buzz Negro” in Japan. We are not trying to offend or discriminate anyone. We are only staying true to the name. The word Negro (meaning black) should not be confused with the N-word which has a different spelling.
Playing ignorant to what it actually means is disgusting you are not using the word to describe a color you are using the word to describe the hair texture resembling one of a black person. Your people have no problem cosplaying as black people but once again miss the mark with holding yourselves accountable when it comes to offending or disrespecting the Black community. @@TheBalancedChic It’s a haircut. As far as I can tell, no one was harmed during the making of this video. I’d agree with you if the haircut was somehow used to mock or belittle people of African heritage, but as it turns out… this video is just a haircut. Sure, the name might be offensive, but different cultures and languages can have the same word mean different things, especially in different contexts. I doubt their intention was to offend anyone, since it’s just a haircut. I’m not denying that some people and cultures are prejudiced, but… I think a haircut emulating their hairstyles, is probably the opposite of that.
As an African American, I've never stood by people who police "cultural appropriation". I think it's a ridiculous thing to be offended by. This is freaking impressive and very creative. The name of the hairstyle can use an update, but it's all good, I can tell it wasn't meant to be offensive. Just so OP know's, "Negro" is also an offensive term to describe Black people here in the states (Similar to how "oriental" is an offensive term to describe Asian Americans). "Black" or "African American" are the prefered nomenclatures these days.
I think they're all idiotic. I'm Latino, and I don't expect someone to refer to me as Mexican American or Brown. It's absurd. I'm guessing you are semi educated or possibly very well educated. To accept to be called by a color or race negates that education. You're a man or a woman. You're a person, not a color or race, to be referred to. Call me Will or Sir or Chef, but don't refer to me as a box of Crayolas.
