- This is a Vax HF1400 vacuum, that belongs to a friend. It's brand new, never used (he has the box and other parts) however it's very broken! Can we get the electricity flowing and maybe stop the motors from burning out?

I remember your green one being used as a bench vac on the dual meile s5 repair, the ones from the cleaner lady that had been used with pattern bags. i remember it had a problem, did that ever get sorted

What's the most reliable canister vacuum today without breaking the bank??
That ametek motor looks very similar to one in a dc01 except it has that ventilated fan cover and a cooling fan on the top spindle. Great video as always, you’re the “old school mechanic” of vacuum cleaner repairs. Not afraid to take on any disassembly. Have read your dc40 strip down thread many a times on Mvacs. have always loved my Dysons but until reading that I wasn’t confident doing the new gen ball machines but eventually after doing a handful they’re not too bad. Have you got any plans on making a light ball thread? The cleaner head is a pain to put back together as everything has to go back perfectly but they need completely disassembling whenever I rebuild them as that bearings always seized.
Was always quite a unique cleaner this, the tub vac style of carpet cleaning in an upright formfactor. Think these actually had a problem where they would melt they got that hot from the poor ventilation! Always have wanted to try one of these for a laugh doubt their any good at all aha

I used to have one of those! Dailied it for a month and it was quite good until it physically broke itself 😂

Very possibly, I started it not long after Christmas 2024 😢 then it sat until I picked it back up again late summer
