Good Grief! On reading this title, my first thought was... "Why?" A fun endeavour!
I studied Latin in school for 5 years, really enjoyed it. Came in handy for my medical transcription work, and also just for more accurate understanding of English. Not really a "dead" language, in my opinion!

There was a copy of this Latin translation of "Winnie the Pooh" in my local library--which was especially surprising, since I lived in a podunk town where most people didn't read books at all--let alone something like this!

Bud was a man of class. Gunnar was a man with a lot of guts to do what he did in WW2. Tom also had a lot of guts. He was a pilot in WW2 who dropped paratroopers over Normandy on D-Day.

This was THE ULTIMATE TTTT panel. The very best! (Honorable mention goes to Orson Bean, who, in later years, would turn his vote numbers into hysterical caricatures related to the featured guests' specialties.)

Just looked up Gunnar Songsteby on the internet. What an amazing man!

My Father a Fireman would cook up things we would not ordinarily have as a family and I loved it, I will eat most anything I can think of thanks to him I never complain, although my Mom was an excellant cook that I miss ever day!!! God rest her soul.

The Latin edition of Winnie the Pooh was always featured in the Common Reader mailorder catalog--before it went out of business. I think high school Latin teachers and their star pupils were most of the buyers.

Besides entertainment the show is informative.

Correct names are Gunnar Sønsteby (1918-2012) - and contestant #3 is Art(hur) Tokle (1922-2005) - and Alexander Lenard, born Lénárd Sándor (1910-1972).

I appreciate these very much, and I suspect others do as well. Thanks for posting them, it helps in researching. 👍

I used to own a copy of the Latin "Winnie the Pooh". Don't remember what became of it.

I so enjoy this show and rarely have anything negative to say related to it, but Orson Bean annoys me. He likes to hear himself talk and tries to be clever, but he's really not.

+Aud W I've got to agree, Aud. I've been watching some episodes in spurt, and Orson was NOT funny, I got sick of him saying "dowager's hump", and he always acted like he was a little drunk. I must admit that John Cameron Swayze and Don Ameche and their rough bullet firing questioning like they are both interviewing a murder suspect. They almost both frighten me. :)

He ran out of time, after wasting much of his turn on basically chatting up Georgia McGuire 1 in the second round.

Martha Hanley Lol re: Don Ameche. I have to agree. I thought that about him at first myself, but he actually has grown on me.

@@marthahanley6650 I can see how viewers thought he was annoying. I think that was just his personae for this show. I actually thought he was funny, and he wasn't afraid to make fun of a segment that was dumb and he allowed himself to be made fun of. I had a close friend who was in a play with him in Santa Monica about 10 years ago and she loved him and found him to be very sweet. As much as I liked Whats My Line, I thought this panel was much funnier and relaxed -

The first guest's story was excellent. But, I thought all the different identity pictures in the first guest's story were a dead give-away of him. Every picture of the guy in the montage had the same jawline as contestant #1.

What did he say at 20:12? "A very doubtful person?"

Again, Tom got all 3 correct. I love Kitty, but that necklace was a little much.
