    I have since discovered that the Hornby Select has been updated to allow all CVs to be altered and any Select can be updated by Hornby for a small fee + pp. You would need to contact them to arrange this. Although Hornby I understand have currently workshop restrictions in place following Govt guidelines on COVID 19, they will be able to do this shortly I’m sure.
    My Select has old firmware and the information is for those who either choose not to upgrade or who are unable to for whatever reason. The info was not intended to mislead nor discourage use of the Select (it is a great starter controller, I did buy one!). Someone does not need to replace the controller with a more expensive one if you chose to sent it in for upgrade.
    Apologies for any misrepresentation and misunderstanding

      Thankyou Dennis, so glad it was helpful. There is a ‘mystery’ set up around CVs and many are put off adjusting them out of fear of damaging the model or decoder. There actually is a whole new realm of possibilities which could easily be tapped into.

    One of the best CV demo's out there , I have a couple of Legomanbiffo sound files V5 on which the CV6 does not allow any adjustment . I queried it with Richard at Roads & Rails and he said for some reason the ESU V5 does not have any adjustment , I do get a slight hesitation on my 67 when accelerating through mid range .
    Cheers........Peter

      Hi Peter I didn’t know that about ESU. Wondering then if there is anything on CV25 which is the speed map nos around 10-20. You would need to record the original value, ( just in case), but it may help I usually use 13/14. Hoping that’s helpful.

    Hi John,
    It is very nice to be reminded of the basic's from time to time and this was very good at doing that so well done but having just looked at your pinned comment means I could buy the select and if my railmaster gave up for any reason could still run the layout so worth knowing well done for that also. Keep safe and well.
    Cheers Robert.

      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert, so glad to hear from you, please come back soon.
      Yes you are right you could buy a select, which has been updated. Hornby are only ones who can do further updates at a current charge of £18+ pp. I’m not sure how many trains it would run on a layout of your size, mind as I THINK it comes with a 1amp power pack ( upgradable for extra £).

    Hi. I had my Select upgraded to version 1.5 to give me all the sound functions on TTS decoders this was about 7 years ago and cost£15 + p&p, using my Select in for upgrade to enable CV setting last week I expected to pay £15 again but Hornby did the upgrade FOC and didn't charge return postage either.

      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, well kinda, Ive decided if a video is not actually gauge related to put it out on both channels,
      Thank you Ive had literally hundreds of people saying the same thing. Many fearful, understandably, that they could damage something. It’s actually not the dark art it is portrayed to be. Really pleased it was helpful
      The test track is 6’ x 2’ I could turn it into a layout but just wanted something very small and incredibly lightweight. As you’ve seen it’s on 2” polystyrene, not the best for a layout. Done it been there, got teashirt, hat and video on that one. My previous layout was the same, ok till I redesigned the track plan. From then always battling the even or not even surface as the surface kept crumbling making a huge mess Lol

    An excellent tutorial John. Wish you'd have put this up a few weeks ago. I had a problem with my virgin hst that it suddenly shot off in reverse for no reason. I had no control over it and the only way to stop it was to cut the track power. I was told to turn of dc in cv29 so I meddled with it. Ok I'll stand in the naughty corner. Hadn't a clue what I did what I'd changed ect 😂 eventually I reset cv8 or the loco did it itself as it went back to factory settings. Lol I hadn't a clue eventually I put in setting 3 and it worked. I now run it as a consist front and rear on different addresses as it's sound and I've had no further problems. Out of the naughty corner. Moral of this story don't meddle with cv29 lol cheers Andy

    • @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445
      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha ha, I love that Andy, it was very kind and honest of you to say. If you put both powercars on the programming track you could address them the same. Does it have a TTS sound decoder by any chance?
      Ive read that CV150 to 1 can help, BUT only on certain locos, not sure about HST.
      Had same issue on one of my peckets, after extensive research it was suggested I cut out the diode across the motor terminals as DCC doesn’t require it. The diodes were put in to suppress TV signal interference, but the decoder does that, so two clash. Been perfect since

    • @moorlandmodelrailwayandy
      @moorlandmodelrailwayandy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445 hi John yes it's the tts sound version. I originally had the powercars as 1 address. With my old dynamis controller I have no problems with it but that's only 1.5 amp output. However when I upgraded to digitrax I went for the DCS210 which has 3 settings for n 00 and 0 so it's output is 5amp for 00 8amps 0 gauge. Then I had this problem of the train running off on its own in reverse. I did check and was told cv29 turn off dc. The rest you know. However it advises for prototypical running use 2 addresses and run as a consist. Since then no problems. You watch now I've said that it'll do it again lol. Thanks for your other tips I'll bear them I'm mind. Thanks Andy

    A very useful guide, although I have one question re the lights...
    I don't understand why you removed the dummy car before changing CV29 unless there is a second decoder in the dummy car ?

    • @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445
      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, thank you for the question. The DMU had red lights front and back of the train so I needed to remove the dummy car so that stayed with red lights. By switching the polarity in the motor car that then switched them to white. So when the dummy goes back on the track the lights are correct. White at the front, red at the back. Hoping that makes sense

    I also have the z21 (white) and use the Android app. I have noticed that there are very few tutorials on the new app, just the older version which is quite different. You would think there would be some sort of instruction manual for the app. As you use this app would it be possible for you to do some tutorial videos on it? I can only take in a certain amount of info at a time so videos would be a good way for me to learn how to use it. Cheers!

      @@piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445 That was the first video of yours that I saw after putting a z21 search i and was very helpful, now saved and stored with the above for future reference.Anything would be good as I am wandering through trying to suss it all out blindfolded. I think I have got to the bottom of the loco library and rearranging and transferring info via wifi. I have sorted a schematic track plan and added points etc but cant work out how to do the ?
      "freehand" version. I lack knowledge on the little things like keeping the layout design the correct size after I have switched off and rebooted. For some reason it trebles in size and I have to pinch it back to size. The main thing that I have failed with is using the maintenance site to update my wlanmaus. It just wont have it. So, in summary, I would be grateful for any tutorials to go with what you have already done. Thanks for replying.

    • @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445
      @piccadillysidingsoogaugemo6445  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Wayne, I ask for specifics as it is a mine field and most you dont need for running a few trains, I can do something on creating a track plan, but it is very wild. I use an ipad pro with an apple pencil and its still difficult. I usually find on apple devices I have to pinch into the image as it tends to show the whole track plan and its far to small to operate. Pinching is part and parcel Im afraid. Sorry Ive never used a multimaus.
      If Im honest sounds like you think its necessary to know the app inside out, to run trains you need to be aware of the three icons on the left hand side of the home screen. ie
      Vehicles - have you been able to program trains with a DCC address and get them running?
      Do you have sound fitted locos and locos with function eg directional lighting?
      Control station - have you drawn your track plan? You only need one track plan and dont need the freehand version
      - do you have dcc operated point motors?
      CV programming in which you use ‘manual’ and choose which function you want to do down the left hand side.
      Just had a thought roco has a manual on its website.( below) switch to English in top right.. Go to ‘downloads’ click ‘manuals’ its the EN version you need.
      Then go to z21 system and z21 app there is a manual there.
      www.z21.eu
      Please take a look as its very difficult to assess your needs with seeing you operate the system. Im more than willing to help but as you can appreciate I have try make videos which can help many with alienating many others too. Take a look at the z21 website and come back to me if you have questions we can perhaps use messenger to physical talk to each other rather than typing here as I do find reading bit difficult being bit dyslexic myself
