APBT v OEB
The american pit bull terrier and olde english bulldog have an interesting connection. While the OEB is a reimagining of the original bulldog, Pit Bull Historian Richard Stratton, asserts that the American Pit Bull is the direct descendent of the original bulldog. Despite, this historical connection the breeds are not two sides of the same coin, in regards to being a pet. The American Pit Bull is a high energy working dog, that needs a competent and experienced owner. The olde english bulldog is a healthy and active dog which is suitable for an inexperienced but engaged owner.

General Info
The american pit bull terrier is a medium sized dog that is solidly built and has a short coat. The american pit bull terrier is a victim of both fact and folklore. Fact this breed has a high drive and is dog aggressive. Folklore, the American Pit Bull’s jaws do not lock and feeding them gun powder will not make them vicious. The american pit bull terrier is a great family companion and supreme working dog. But be certain this breed needs a lot of work/excercise and training and socialization.
Health
Bred for athleticism and the diversed breeding, the American Pit Bull Terrier tends to be a healthy breed. However, there are some genetic conditions to be on the look out for. The breed can be susceptible to hip dysplasia and skin problems, allergies and mange.
Temperament
Fearless, the Pit Bull is noted for its playful temperament and friendly nature. The Pit Bull is also athletic, and has a strong desire to please people. The Pit Bull breed has a high prey drive due to its being bred to chase and subdue livestock. However, the Pit Bull is not naturally aggressive towards people and is affectionate toward children. With early socialization and handling, the Pit Bull can learn to restrain itself from unwarranted aggression towards other dogs. But should never be left unsupervised with dogs or animals.
Living Arrangements
The American Pit Bull Terrier will do well indoors as well as outdoors. This breed needs a tremendous amount of excersise and structured play. The American Pit Bull Terrier is an extremely athletic and clever breed when keeping him out doors make sure that your yard is secure. This will mean being vigilante and taking extraordinary precautions as it is nothing for an American Pit Bull Terrier to clear a six foot fence or create a passage under it.

GENERAL INFO
The Olde English Bulldogge is a recently created American dog breed. In the 1970’s David Leavitt embarked upon recreating the healthier working bulldog of the early 19th century. To do this Mr. Leavitt crossed english bulldogs, american bulldogs, american pit bull terriers, and bullmastiff. This resulted in an athletic and healthy bulldog similar to the Old english bulldogs.
HEALTH
The Olde is generally healthier than many of the modern Bulldog Breeds. However, because they are a recent recreation, for the most part created from many of the modern bulldog breeds, many of the same bulldog disorders affect the Olde but at a much less rate of occurrence. With responsible breeding programs and proper testing the general health of the Olde should only be improving.
TEMPERAMENT
Olde English Bulldogges are docile, but capable and protective, fearless and athletic, fierce-looking, determined and courageous, bold and friendly around their family and friends. The Olde is a fearless adversaries to anyone who threatens their masters or property. In the family setting they are also amazing couch potatoes and relatively easy to control.
LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
Olde English Bulldogges will adapt to any lifestyle home with a large yard or apartment living. Like most breeds it is advisable to routinely walk your Olde twice a day. The breed is hearty but should be from extreme weather conditions. Too hot or too cold is not ideal for the breed.

I have a male olde. A little over a year old and about 70 lbs. He does great with babies, children, other dogs and other small animals like rats and cats. He is very friendly but also very protective of me. I've noticed he is mostly aggressive towards strange males, which I like because I cannot walk around the block without being accosted by some skeevy looking male. He is a wonderfully well tempered dog all around.
I bought an American bulldog. ended up with the runt. fantastic wee dog thought. 21" and over 70lbs. closer to the olde but not complaining. strong, friendly, loves other dogs, surprisingly agile. When stuff gets real he steps up. absolutely love the little man
My family has owned pit bulls for over 30 years and my wife and I have one and an Olde English Bulldoge. They get along great.

I got my olde english as a re-home puppy. He is smart and has learned so much from my 2 year old Rottie, as to how to proceed within and around our home. Since she is our guard dog.
I worked at a shelter with mostly Pitts and it was surprisingly really fun, most of the dogs were great to be around

They are great with the family, just have to be very firm. They are very possessive and powerful.
The e in olde is not pronounced. It's an old English way of spelling old, and is pronounced as we pronounce the word old today. The e was originally there only to indicated that the o is pronounced long rather than short. Eventually, it was dropped from the spelling, but the pronunciation remained the same, i.e., with the long o.
PS Same for the word BULLDOGGE, i.e., the e is not pronounced. It's just an archaic spelling for bulldog, but is pronounced as we pronounce bulldog, today. The Double g originally indicated that the o was not to be pronounced long. Eventually, the solution was to drop both the e and the double g, for simplification, but the pronunciation remained the same.

That's why the English spell many words differently than Americans do. They didn't start standardizing English spelling till after we split off from them, and we each came up with different standards.

I think many had knew which was the original bulldog without even having to watch the video. A lot of folks have tried to do recreations of the original working and bull baiting bulldogs (such as the Olde English bulldogge) and don't do too swell a job of recreating it. I personally wonder why they do not do as swell a job when we have the original bulldog with us to pull inspiration from. Though I believe if folks want the original working bulldog, maybe they should be breeding American Pit bulldogs instead of trying to remake them. If anyone wants to see how original working bulldogs are suppose to be like and be designed like, they only need look at the American Pit bulldog breed. That is what a working/purpose bulldog designed for gripping large game as well as warring (fighting) dogs for bull baiting should look like. Another author and historian, Diane Jessup, also believes they are the original bulldog. Like dog professional, author, and breed historian Diane Jessup writes:
“First a hunter, then a butcher's dog, then a baiter, then a dog fighter, only for the past 150 years or so have bulldogs been bred for going against each other. American Pit Bulls which display behavior typical of their heritage are gripping dogs; they come from a long, long genetic history which dictates they get a hold and HANG ON! This behavior saved their life during the thousands of years they were hunting boar, stag and bear, and also stood them in good stead when they moved on to working bulls, bears and other animals in baiting sports. This same behavior can work to make breaking up a fight quite easy and safe. The Pit Bull is a bulldog in action and appearance. Pit bulls were a mix of the original bulldogs with Old English Terriers. American Bulldogs are the closest to the original bulldog breed

The first thing I'll do is give you props for having true APBT's and not American Bullies, however I've owned and bred Game Bulldogs of different Bloodlines for over 30yrs and never came across one with hip dysplasia, in general tho it was a pretty good video. Boss Hog, Ruff Touch Kennels retired.

OEBD that was used to create the pit and bull dogs were prob closer looking to the STD am bulldog or HyBrid Johnson/scott. What would be called The staffy bull was used to create the APBT. American breeders prob crossed them with am bulldogs and other dogs to “improve” the breed thus creating the APBT. You def see the staffy bull blood as the dominate blood in then APBT but there’s obviously other dogs mixed in

Nice dogs but the OEB should have a short(-ish) straight tail similar to the pitbull. It should not be curled (like the English bulldog) or cropped.

Charlie And Lola the blue Paul terrier were introduced to the APBT bloodline back in the early 1900's. blue Paul's were used for fighting by gypsies in the kirkintilloch district in Scotland. Then when early immigrants arrived in the USA in the early 19th century they were introduced into the APBT bloodline.( remember back in the day people didn't call APBT American pitbull terriers and people didn't call blue Paul's blue Paul terriers they just referred to them as bulldogs for they were all from the same foundation)

Primo was an APBT that was just named an Amstaff by people so if you say that blue Paul's are the Amstaff's ancestors and since Primo was an APBT used as the first Amstaff than your basically proving that The blue Paul's and APBT are of the same lineage as well.

These recreations of the Bulldogges aren't anywhere near what they resembled. The closest to the originals are Boxers and Doggo Alanos. These recreations are built for size not for the function they once performed.

They always say the old english weigth is so little, look at the weigth difference in the video, but they always say in these videos that they weigh about the same… not making sense to me, my leavitts weigth is 40kg

@@videogazer801 XL Pitbull Presa Canario mix so that may have been the reason for his size, however he literally has no presa features. But on a blue Buffalo kibble diet he was 110 peak, but it was bad for his joints so we put him on weight loss and he is now skinnier and healthier. If he was on a raw meat diet and had plenty physical play time (running etc), easily could’ve been able to be healthy at 110 or more, but again bad joints and arthritis are a common issue as they increase in weight, so I’d stick around the 80 - 90 lbs mark.

Ive had real pit bull terriers from old foundation stock for pets for a long time. I got out because so many idiots ruined the breed. Now, especially here in CA you can't own any ruined breed by the moronic public. Thats rotties, dobies, shepherds, chows, dobermans, husky's, presa canarios, cane corsos, staffie bull, Am staffs, bull terriers, etc. Everyone has to go undergorund just to have a pet or frankly don't own one bc insurance companies won't cover you nor the landlords insurance will cover the tenants with these dogs. Theyre good dogs, but flat our stupid owners. So I backed off.

men I appreciate your videos but when you're talking about David Leavitt please show leaving bulldogs, you're showing poor quality olde Englishs in this video, pretty sure there's no pure Leavitt bulldogs in this clip.
the real name are british whites and the few we had in the south were bred into the johnsons and Scots amer, bulldogge, many are overly man aggressive. i had one of the last saddle tan with black nose pitbul with bolio and crenshaws jeeps bloodlines, my pits in late 70's, you will not find jeep dogs today with current bloodlines if their is it is so far back it don't mean much. a pedigreee has to have at least seven carefull line breedings to get a standard in your liking of the breed, all familie breeders breed slightly different looking pitbuls . left alone with same sex dogs is not a good idea dogs having some more trouble with females than males but never bothered the cats. the red nose is not an old color choice it became popular in 70's b/c of the red devil look. but the original breeders liked the blacknose better. the pitbulls in america today have a lot of colby blood, these dogs were more from ireland, the english was taller and had a pointier face but not as much as the bull terrior which i am not fond of.

American Bulldogs are to high. Bulldogs were made for Bull baiting there for they needed to be low so a Bull could not just hit it with his horn.

I have a mix between the two. Dad pure pitbull xl and mom pure olde english bulldogge. I got the best of both worlds. Medium height, stocky muscular body 75lb, medium size nose with the olde wrinkles. Very good temperament and very friendly with kids.
