Suikoden 3 was nearly perfect. The problem was that you had to stick your chosen main char with the fire power. If you had separate options for both, it woulda been perfect
Picking Hugo as your Flame Champion made most sense given the other two chaarcters had stronger affinity for the default runes they receive. I feel like Suikkoden 3 was game that made most use of the massive cast, given the different scenarioes you were playing through from different points of view you had a major reason to use more of the characters and gave them a greater chance to shine. The army battles actually factor in how powerful your characters are, so you were rewarded for using more of your characters in those. The customization was great, as you could turn mild mannered Thomas into a powerhouse with the right set up. Suikoden 3 had so many good ideas, why 4 was such a step backwards. I get 3 had some areas to improve upon the ideas given, not revert back to the basics on the original game and throw everything that worked great about 3 out.
@Lastjustice I think 3's was really bad. But I'll give credit to the new skill system and story. 4 was a massive over correction they really mainly needed to just return to controlling all six characters independently in battle rather than the paired system. I would say the replacement for the strategic battles in bother were also terrible

Suikoden is also my favorite RPG franchise! Congrats on 20k subscribers! I played part 2 before part 1 actually when I was 15. I love Viktor & Flik but we all know Suikoden has so many good characters! I loved how in part 3 you can play the story through all the other mains. Geddoe was my favorite main in part 3. I wish Japan would have made an anime out of Suikoden 2 or any Suikoden! I hope we get a Suikoden 6 someday.
as a fact i started also playing it again. it is cool, but in miss of cool chars. i mean it is just a hand full. the other titles had lots of well written chars. the rest of course is awesome
Make sure to support the kickstarter for Eiyuuden Chronicle, the suikoden creators are going back together to make a great spiritual sequels to the games we love so much
This video ranking the Suikoden main games from worst to best was a great way to celebrate your milestone. I appreciate your dedication to the series and your insightful analysis of each game. Keep up the fantastic work, and here's to many more subscribers in the future! 🎉👏
My favorite Suikoden games from least favorite to best. Suikoden 4- this one was just very mediocre and felt very basic compared to the rest of the games Suikoden 1- It's still a good game but it certainly has aged. However doesn't change the fact that it has a solid story, good gameplay, and great characters. Suikoden V- I really enjoy this one. They really stepped up after the 4th entry. It takes elements from 1&2 and improves upon the battle system. Everything else about it is just great! Suikoden 3- Three is a personal favorite because not only was this my first Suikoden game, but it introduced three main characters that have different perspectives and outlooks on things. Gameplay is certainly different from the others but it's still a fun battle system. Story is also fantastic and the opening for it is sooo good! Suikoden 2- This game is undeniably one of the best RPGs that I have ever played. The characters are very good, the story is just amazing, and gameplay is fun. It's a beautiful gem of a RPG. Overall, each game in their own right have something that everyone will find fun and amazing. It's one of my all-time favorite RPG series and I only hope they make a collection for newer consoles especially since it's quite difficult to get all of them besides from downloading 1-4 from PSN. I only hope that Konami can somehow get themselves together and bring the series back. :)
Many years ago when the first Suikoden was first released. I spent two years wondering what the next second game would be called if it ever came out. As a child, the best title I came up with was 'The revenge of Suikoden', I did settle with Suikoden II though. Suikoden is more special than what people give it credit for...or is this just my nostalgia.
Followed you from the early early days of low sub's Erick ... pretty awesome to see you with almost 60K now. Grats. Suikoden is one of my all times as well!
You wanna know a funny story? I played the IV, and spend hours trying to found the progress point, right after i get access to ship and random encounters. And around 1 hour are spent wandering to sea and bumping into invisible wall so much that i might have sunk an entire army
I still think 2 is still the best suikoden ever. though 5 was good, I don't remember the story, but 2? i still remember the story clearly even after 20 few years.
My rankings 😊: 5. Suikoden 5 4. Suikoden 4 3. Suikoden 2. Suikoden 3 1. Suikoden 2 All of them were incredible, and I can’t wait for them to come out next year remastered!
My order would be 2, 1, 5, 3 and finally, 4. I really like the story in 4. Only issue was the random battles triggering every 3 seconds during sea travel lol. All of them are great but Suikoden 2 is one of the best jrpgs ever made.
Best to worst: 2, 3, 1, 5, 4 although I love them all. V is marked down for the isometric visuals, IV for the sea navigation. II is the best story-wise, and I love III as I had to wait ages to import it to Europe.
This is mine as well. Glad to see 3 is higher on the list for you and the OP. It has my favorite story and main characters, and I love how everything leads up to war in that one.
I haven't played 2 yet, but what's the name of that track that you had playing when you talked about it? I've noticed you used it a couple times in other videos, and I can't find it in the ost.
5 is my favorite, too, followed by 1. I've played through 1 a few times, and I never found it to be that much shorter than the others. Congrats on 20k. Hope we have reason to see lots of Suikoden videos in the future!
Hello Erik!!! I never played any Suikoden and I want to ask you a question, do you have to play them in order to understand the story or can I play them in any order like in Final Fantasy?
First of all, congrats! U deserve way more so keep it up. Suikoden 1 was my first rpg for the ps1. Got it before I got a memory card so I had to play the game a zillion times cause my mom wouldn't let me keep the ps1 on when I slept. The thing that I like most about all suikodens is the music. It is so good. The soundtrack for suikoden 2 is streamable on Spotify. It's the same as the kickstarter soundtrack (which is kicked of course). Keep up the good work!
Havnt tried tactics, but it's a sequel to 4. If you have a ps3, all the suikodens except 5 are available for download there, probably cheaper than if you buy a physical cop
5th - Suikoden IV: Worst story, worst story presentation, worst characters, worst combat, worst world map. Still a good JRPG, but by far the low point of the Suikoden series. I would probably love it if it went by any other name. 4th - Suikoden: It's hard for me to rank it this low, but it's just fact, everything it did well, the others took that and made it better. 3rd - Suikoden V: Great game. It may be my 3rd Suikoden, but it's still my #5 all time JRPG. The only knock on it is how slow it starts. After that it's completely brilliant. 2nd - Suikoden III: Yeah, the buddy system in combat is a pretty big knock, but the robust skill system makes up for it. It's a toss up whether this or 2 has the best story, but 3's characters and story presentation are completely umatched. 1st - Suikoden II: THE masterpiece. It just does everything right. And it's not only what it does right, but what it DOESN'T do wrong...which is anything. There isn't a single downside. Every piece of it is perfection. Even the art still holds up today. I finished replaying it again a couple weeks ago and it has aged magnificently.
Suiko2 Suiko5 Suiko3 Suiko1 Suiko4 That is my list. Suiko 5 is godly and a good return after the many flaws suiko4 had. But I still wouldn't put suiko5 over 2 just because suiko5 wanted to be suiko2 so desperately. It was a good move, but still, I see Suiko5 like Suiko 2.0. still both games are my favorite in the franchise. My favorite characters of each game. Nina and Riou Zerase and Kyle Geddoe and his band Cleo Maxine And a special mention to Flik and Viktor from both Suikodens.
Agreed, it's a shame that suiko 5 has a strange growth stat, every char has the same P. Def. suiko 3 doesn't have P. Def stat at all. Suikoden 2 is perfect in every way
The Grandia HD Collection just came out for Switch. Maybe one day we can have an HD collection for Suikoden. Congratulation on reaching 20,000 subscribers.

I'm hyped for the Remasters next Year. I loved Part 5 too..but the Grafik, from.Dunegons, Citys is to clean, way not enogh Details..its need a Remaster or Remake
Suikoden V was the spiritual successor of Suikoden II but its no way the best among the series. The first glaring problem of Suikoden V is that it seemed like an incomplete game. Graphics were bad even at the time. Equipment and weapons of new recruited characters always started at Lv. 1 which could give you some clues that they rushed it. Secondly, it was too easy. At no point in the game you would hit a wall to progress. I finished the game with ease and every battle was finished in 2 rounds most of the time. Lastly, it was not very original. They copied a lot of good things from Suikoden II (Flik=Kyle) which is not necessarily a bad thing but when you compare it to Suikoden II, S2 completely stood on its own. (Even with a couple of characters returning from S1) Still Suikoden V is a great game, maybe at the 2nd or 3rd spot objectively.
Luca Blight is awesome. The final showdown against him is amazing. You need 3 parties to beat the damn guy and he still don't die. And damn you konami.
Congratulations for reaching 20k subscribers!!! Mine is in this order (with reason why i placed it on that spot) Top 5: suikoden 3 - the only suikoden game i did not finish cause i did not enjoy the tedious battle mechanics and the trinity sight system. Yes, it made the whole game to have a very unique concept but personally I thought the pacing became slower than what it should have been. Top 4: suikoden 4 - interestingly enough, i liked the ship war battles, but disappointed with the main battle gameplay but I got used to it eventually. Top 3: suikoden 1 - i played this right after i finished suikoden 2 so i guess im biased, comparing the graphics and the story. But it was still a good game. I cried on certain plot points. Top 2: suikoden 2 - played this game a bunch of times, with and without any guides (yeah sometimes i suck at recruiting the SODs). Has a very good straightforward storyline combined with witty comedies and heavy drama plot points, great battle mechanics (all three) and cute graphics. Again, i cried on certain plot points... :p Top 1: suikoden 5 - for me, this was actually ahead of Suikoden 2 plot- and battle mechanics-wise. I do admit that the first part was super slow and the first time i played this i got bored and played another game instead. But when i tried playing it the second time and got to a certain part of the story, things really began to pace themselves accordingly and really enjoyed the plot since. The time i invested in the first part was worth it. I did not really mind the sort-of isometric top view (it kinda reminds me of the suikoden 2, in fact), nor the bland environment, cause the rest of the game was amazing.
Suikoden V is really goodt, I love the formation system (and the story of the bad-ass Georg Prime). But Suikoden 2 has certain charms that make it the best Suikoden game for me.

Suikoden writer of 1-3 kickstarted a game which just looks like another suikoden I hope that turns out to be good.
Suikoden V is awesome. Guess I'll have to replay it now.
as a fact i started also playing it again. it is cool, but in miss of cool chars. i mean it is just a hand full. the other titles had lots of well written chars. the rest of course is awesome
Suikoden 2 is the best period....first one i played nothing else compares to it
Hello Eric nice video the first Suikoden 2 so I wanted to see and give other games in the franchise a try.
I love suikoden I wish they would make next gen version!
And now Suikoden 1 & 2 are back with a remaster!
Too bad the konami has left the series, and is focusing only on football, one day I hope to return suikoden
Wish granted although it's just a successor game Eiyuden Chronicle
Been waiting for you to make this video
Love this series. Played the first two too many times to count growing up. They were so different than other jrpgs on the market.
My favorite Suikoden games from least favorite to best.
Suikoden 4- this one was just very mediocre and felt very basic compared to the rest of the games
Suikoden 1- It's still a good game but it certainly has aged.
Hobbins Gaming you are right
No ppl don't give it enough credit, it slaps
Followed you from the early early days of low sub's Erick ... pretty awesome to see you with almost 60K now. Grats. Suikoden is one of my all times as well!
congrats on 20k!
My rankings 😊:
5. Suikoden 5
4. Suikoden 4
3. Suikoden
2. Suikoden 3
1. Suikoden 2
All of them were incredible, and I can’t wait for them to come out next year remastered!
That is the same as my rankings.
Congrats Erick on 20,000. I been a subscriber way back when you had 4,000. It's great to see the best jrpg channel growing.
Awesome, man, that was good to know. It's always nice to see old subscribers still watching my videos!
@@ErickLandonRPG I trust your opinion on this genre brotha and I will keep on watching. Keep it up buddy!! 👊💥💥💥
god please give this man more subscribers
My order would be 2, 1, 5, 3 and finally, 4. I really like the story in 4. Only issue was the random battles triggering every 3 seconds during sea travel lol. All of them are great but Suikoden 2 is one of the best jrpgs ever made.
Bold choice putting V above II. I would switch them, but I'm just happy to see someone covering this series. Great video!
Congrats!
Mine, from best to worst: 2, 1, 3, 5, 4.
Especially love playing 1 carrying save into 2.
Thanks, buddy.
1st - Suikoden 1
2nd- Suikoden 2
3rd - Suikoden 4
4th-Suikoden 5
5th- Suikoden 3
Suikoden 2 is my favourite but 5 is underrated, sometimes I wonder if nostalgia make me choose 2 over 5.
Suikoden 2 all the time !! the Best Story and BGM
wkwk ada ko jer di sini
Suikoden 2 bikin gw nangis anjir pas baru2 ini ngulang main lagi pkai emu epsxe di android
Best to worst: 2, 3, 1, 5, 4 although I love them all. V is marked down for the isometric visuals, IV for the sea navigation.
II is the best story-wise, and I love III as I had to wait ages to import it to Europe.
Exactly the same
'for isometric visuals' ...seriously, man? That's a lame excuse and you know it.
I hated them.
This is mine as well. Glad to see 3 is higher on the list for you and the OP. It has my favorite story and main characters, and I love how everything leads up to war in that one.
3 is utter shite. Sorry.
I haven't played 2 yet, but what's the name of that track that you had playing when you talked about it? I've noticed you used it a couple times in other videos, and I can't find it in the ost.
Hey Eric, do you have a list of all the games in your intro?
5 is my favorite, too, followed by 1. I've played through 1 a few times, and I never found it to be that much shorter than the others. Congrats on 20k. Hope we have reason to see lots of Suikoden videos in the future!
Thanks, man. I'd rather not make too many videos about Suikoden since I've covered this franchise to death already, hahaha.
Hello Erik!!! I never played any Suikoden and I want to ask you a question, do you have to play them in order to understand the story or can I play them in any order like in Final Fantasy?
Nope. They're all connected because they take place in the same universe, but that's all; it doesn't matter where you start.
You deserve 20k subscribers and even more :)
Thank you!
This is my absolute faveroit video game series. So be nice, I have too much emotional attachment to this series.
Woohoo! Go 20k!
Haha, thanks, buddy.
Congrats on 20K may you get 20,000 more very soon!
Thank you!
So glad there niche channels like this out there, great job man been a long time fan
I only Played 1-2, I might need to try 3-5. Anyone try Suikoden Tactics? was it any good?
By the way in your intro video what game is that after Dragons Crown? It looks like interesting strategy rpg
Spectral Souls on the PSP, dude. It's a GREAT game!
LOL just watched the intro and you said 20k subs. Your at 39.9k now. congrats.
CONGRATULATIONS ERICK! you totally deserve it!
Thanks, man.
Suikoden 2 is really good, one of my favorites together with Legend of Legaia, Breath of Fire IV and Chrono Cross
@Shi no Tenshi don't forget Xenogears too
did you play breath of fire 3? its 100 time better then 4
I strongly recommend you play Breath of Fire 3. By far the best in the series and one of the best RPGs of all time.
Congrats Erick Landon FG to your 20k subs!!
Thank you.
You're welcome, Erick landon Fighting Game
Suiko2
Suiko5
Suiko3
Suiko1
Suiko4
That is my list.
Nina and Riou
Zerase and Kyle
Geddoe and his band
Cleo
Maxine
And a special mention to Flik and Viktor from both Suikodens.
congrats for 20k subs... keep up with good video bro
Thanks
Congrats on the 20 k followers bro !!
Thank you.
1. suikoden 2
2. Suikoden 5
3. Suikoden 1
4. Suikoden 3
5. Suikoden 4
Agreed, it's a shame that suiko 5 has a strange growth stat, every char has the same P. Def.
suiko 3 doesn't have P. Def stat at all.
Suikoden 2 is perfect in every way
@@089Stargazer i don't like suikoden 3 and 4
Same as my list order.
The Grandia HD Collection just came out for Switch. Maybe one day we can have an HD collection for Suikoden. Congratulation on reaching 20,000 subscribers.
Thanks, dude!
The music in 1 is the absolute best of all!
Congratulation for 20000 subscribers!
Man... you are really underrated
I like your channel a lot
I hope you continue this great content!
Thank you very much!!!
congrats for 20 k man:)
Thanks!
No need to apologize. V is also my favorite with ll being my second favorite. Congratulations on 20k, brother!!! I joined you when you had about 5k and have been happy to see you get your gifts especially the PS4 and Switch. I was also PISSED when you were demonetized and damn near through a party when you got remonetized as you deserved it. Keep being the man, Erick, and I look forward to seeing you get bigger and reach 50k soon. Take care, brother.
Thank you!!!
My top 5:
5. Suikoden
4. Suikoden Tierkreis
3. Suikoden III
2. Suikoden V
1. Suikoden II
Congrats on 20k Erick! This is well deserved. Love your channel
Thanks, man.
is it worth playing them all? or else where to start? if you can skip someone
I'm finally playing Suikoden right now. I am LOVING it. Cant wait to finish it and play 2. Which I also have now!
Great list. Was a lil surprised you put 2 over 3 as you speak fondly of 3. I honestly havent played suikoden yet but i see so many talk highly of it
Well, I'd say they're tied, 2 and 3, haha.
@@ErickLandonRPG haha thats fair!
Congrats, you deserve it. My favorite is Suiko III. Story was awesome, Caesar is the best tactcian ever and Yuber is really badass lol.
Thank you!
congratulations on reaching this milestone Erick you deserve it and thank you for this video I recentley started Sikoden 2 and so far it's fantastic now I know which game to pick next
Thanks, buddy!
Congratulations on this achievement, 20 000 subscribers, it's amazing! I think Suikoden 2 has the best soundtrack, don't you think?
Thank you and yes, Suiko2 has best OST.
Congratz!!!!!! on your 20K!!!!! My list goes the same! keep up my bru!!
Thanks, man!!!
There's only a like button. Where's the love button?
For me, it is, best to worst:
IV, V, III, I, II
I love IV, it's absolutely amazing
Good job at getting 20000 subscribers. Also, good video. Even though I'm not a fan of the Suikoden series, it was a nice video.
Thanks, buddy.
Congratulations on your subscribers! NIN for life!
Yeah!!!! Thanks!!!
Oh my goshh. I miss it. Good job!
One question . How to play suikoden V now . Any chance without ps2 ?
Congratulations on 20K subs!
Thanks, Sarah.
what game is the first game on the intro?
Congrats on 20k man 👍😊
Thanks, Sven!!!
Congrats and suikoden is an amazing series!
Thanks.
@@ErickLandonRPG you're welcome :D
Luca Blight is awesome.
The final showdown against him is amazing. You need 3 parties to beat the damn guy and he still don't die.
And damn you konami.
Komoney*
Congratulations for reaching 20k subscribers!!!
Mine is in this order (with reason why i placed it on that spot)
Top 5: suikoden 3 - the only suikoden game i did not finish cause i did not enjoy the tedious battle mechanics and the trinity sight system.
Top 1: suikoden 5 - for me, this was actually ahead of Suikoden 2 plot- and battle mechanics-wise.
Thanks for sharing!
congrats dear erick!
Congratulations Erick !!!
Thanks, dude.
Man i wish they would bring this series back on Switch. Would sell like crazy.
If it was remastered to bring to the Switch. Well, I'd buy a Switch just for these games.
