    That couple that wants to buy a house in a million dollar area for cheap are ridiculous! The owner isn't even THAT interesting in selling since it wasn't on the market and you offer 100,000 less than what they want? ROFL It's a seller's market if there's NOTHING on sale and also, whatever is on sale is like 1.4M

    The family couple needs a reality check!!!
    Kirstie pulled out a whopper of a house ……their desired location, period property, etc, etc.
    Ohh wait, I don’t care for the price??!!!!
    Saw that coming ………
    Wondering if the shoes were on the other feet, would They ????

      Agreed. Houses in that area are over a million pounds and that owner didn't even want to sell really. Then to offend her by offering such a disrespectful offer just because they want to change it. SMH. If that upper floor had been already increased, the price would have been in the over one million pounds like all the others. Champagne taste on a wine budget. That wife is entitled. Was probably a spoiled little girl.

      Yes! Just because you want a house you can't afford, it doesn't mean anyone will be willing to sell it to you for less than market value. They are delusional.

      Sonya is entitled: its all about satisfying her giant ego, not about family needs. And has no business mindset, at all.. Kirsty works REALLY HARD to create a miracle, but Sonya only wants to steal it, cos her ego demands immediate transformation, and she expects the vendor to take a hit. WTF -as if?!!

    Sonia is a difficult person. What happened to moving into a perfectly livable house and making renovations later? That’s what we did and we’ve now lived in our house for 48 years…many renovations later!

    • @Whoiskevinjones

      There was no reason to lift the roof right away to increase the ceiling height for two little girl bedrooms with an adjoining bath. I thought they wanted a Victorian home? I hope they live to regret their decision.

      It astounds me how people want it all done now. I agree that you buy it, live in it, then decide what you want one room at a time.

    • @jenniferlynn3537
      @jenniferlynn3537 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there may have been issues on that front, as they don’t seem to be a young couple. When you’re in your 40s with 2 full time jobs and small children, energy is already spread quite thin - and then there are the anticipated increased expenses for school and activities.

  • @michaeltutty1540
    @michaeltutty1540 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    To be honest, I was rather hoping that Daniel and Sonya lost out on a house. They were obnoxiously rigid in their demands and then when their wish list got ticked, they make an insultingly low offer. Had I been the Vendor, my answer would have been a resounding "No, and do t bother wasting my time again!" I did exactly that when selling. I waited 3 days and had an offer 50% higher than the first.
    There was something sort of neat about the Scandi house, even if a style I could never live with. The location was ideal, but doubling the size, by building a first floor, would do the trick. I like having rooms not areas and a proper front entrance door and reception hall is an absolute must.

    • @Whoiskevinjones
      @Whoiskevinjones ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I hope the owner did say "no" and "don't come back." She was gracious to let them see it, but the couple was rude.

    • @jenniferlynn3537
      @jenniferlynn3537 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you mean that Sonja was rude. I felt for her husband, who just wanted value for £. They’d have had that in the white detached - but not the bragging rights of location.
      I know nothing of the area, and am aware that by necessity, Brits are much more accepting of shared walls than Americans. So I can’t really assess whether 11 years ago their bid was unreasonable, or if the asking price was unrealistic. I had a thought that the vendor may have calculated in an “inconvenience fee” into the asking price that didn’t reflect what a bank could justify by way of the buyer’s mortgage.

    Did Sonia and Daniel really have the money to but on those 18 streets? They originally said 930,000 and were not willing or go to 890,000. Time was clicking along for daughter school start

    • @thehungrygoldfish
      @thehungrygoldfish ปีที่แล้ว +5

      930k was the number if it was move-in-ready. They needed to do a lot of work to make that third house fit their needs, so they had to offer significantly less to make up for the renovation costs. But I do think that their budget was too low for what they wanted where they wanted. But at least they found something they were willing to offer on. Usually, with these super specific searches, the couple doesn't find anything because they're too picky. These two were picky-is, but they were at least a little open-minded compared to other couples, specifically Sarah and Ian and Ghika and Ronnie.

    I just knew from the start that the couple with the 930K to spend would not get a house on this show. When one is that particular that the search is narrowed down to 18 streets or so where houses are not available in their budget range and only after sending out approx. 600 leaflets only 2 houses popped up that might be for sale. In such cases, the buyers have to be extremely ready to compromise. Good luck to them and hope they have found something since this show.

    If I were the seller of the house that Sonia & Daniel low-balled, I definitely would not have accepted their insulting offer, because they basically asked me to consider selling to them! I would also know that houses for sale in my neighborhood are hot commodities and I would hold on until I actually wanted to sell so that I could possibly end up with a bidding war! My answer would have been "no" as well...after all the owners weren't really interested in selling... they were just intrigued enough to see what kind of offer they'd get...then they'd decide if they wanted to sell. It's "meet my price and then maybe."

      What's your point? Your opinion is just that. It's YOUR opinion.
      In the US, even $10 million houses have the refrigerator in the kitchen.
      I wouldn't want it any other way.

      What would be the ideal place for a refrigerator to you?

      i didnt know at first, but it's approximately 10 times more than square metres , so if they say 3000 square ft I imagine it is around 300 square metres.... not 100% accurate, of course.

    Let’s all remember that these shows can show people in a particular way to build views rather than show the person’s true attitude. Give grace to the families looking.

      They did have incredibly unrealistic expectations though. You can’t deny that. They wanted a particular style of house with particular features on one of 18 specific streets in a sought after area within a very short period of time for under than the median housing price for the specific streets they wanted. That’s insane.
