I love that someone finally commented on the "always-on" option. I also shut it off as the added battery life far outweighs having the screen always on
Don't know how you aren't getting more positive reviews on this video, but hands down one of the better side-by-side comparisons I've seen on Apple products. Thanks for the effort.
I dont really comment on review videos but I REALLY appreciate the review and your efforts on this man! I love how you also included how long it takes to charge them and also love how every section of the video is precise and clear. It really proves that you’ve used these products personally for some time, thank you for your honest review, really helps a lot! 😸✨
I didn’t know the SE 2 display is on when I shake my wrist. I watched so many reviews to make a decision S9 vs SE 2. Yours is the most helpful. Thank you a lot!
Very helpful, thanks! I'm currently trying to decide which one should I go for... I won't really use the extra health functions, and can't spend more for the stainless steel model, but the 20% larger screen, the longer battery life, the quicker charging just makes me lean towards the 8. Plus it is said to be dust resistant - and I work outdoors... Would you say the 8 is considerably more durable than the SE?
I upgraded from the SE1 to the Series 8 45mm and I love it, the Always On Display was what I missed the most on the SE. As I use the Apple Watch to track my sleep every night, I simply charge it when I go to bed, read for a bit or watch TH-cam/Netflix, the strap it back on. The Series 8 easily lasts until the next following night. I got the cellular version, SE as also the 8. For walking the dogs, or do the grocery shopping, I don’t take the iPhone with me. The watch does it all, including Apple Pay. If needed, I can make a phone call, I am reachable and I get/send messages. Really handy. If you’re worried about the watch, use a case. Even after two years of wearing the SE on a daily base, I have hardly any scratches on it, just normal wear and tear. But wearing it for a tougher work job, I’d use a case and screen protector. To sum it up: the extended health features of the 8 give a peace of mind, the AOD is a must, cellular really helpful anyways. If the higher price of the 8 is not an issue for you, I’d say go for it. You’re gonna be really happy with it. On the contrary: you’re gonna be happy with the SE, too, and you end up, just like me, getting the 8 (9 or 10 down the line) eventually, anyways.
@@adamkotanyi2049 Just want to add: the leather dog leashes (I have two dogs, mid size and rather strong girls 😉) have these metal rings that often touch the watch, but the watch case is fine. Using a case to protect the screen and body is probably a good idea for you, though. And a couple of spare bands, and one for work. The Milanese looks really good, but is expensive. Third party ones stay clear. Body hair can get easily trapped in them, and they look and feel cheap. I prefer the nylon bands, in particular during the warmer months, as they breath much better than the silicon one (which starts to smell after a while, even after cleaning) while the nylon ones I simply wash with a bit of wool detergent, which is enough. Don’t worry about battery life. of the 8 (and a bit less on the SE - after 26 months my SE battery health stands at 86% with nonstop daily use). 24 hours is absolutely no problem. Even in the beginning when using the watch more. I think you’re going to enjoy the WATCH just like so many people. It is an amazing extension to your iPhone, of course not essential. The health monitoring is of great value, tracking of activities is motivating, you’re checking your phone less during the day as you set it up to only show you the stuff you want/need. Oh, and pinging your iPhone. Man, I use that several times daily. Have a great Sunday!
I was considering getting the SE2 as my first Apple Watch, but decided to get the non-cellular Nike Series 7 instead. Reasons included always on, dust resistance, non-plastic back and fast charging. I think I made the right decision, even though it was more expensive.
Have you been using it for sleep tracking? If not, why's fast charging important to you? (Not criticizing, just trying to hear other's preferences to improve future videos.)
@@camsecore I have been using it for sleep tracking. I previously had a £30 wearable for the same purpose. The fast charging is good because I put it on the charger during my “morning routine”, so it’s ready to go when I am.
@@frankykikay1I use the same 20W charging brick for my Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad. I suppose you have to weigh up what you prefer - battery longevity or faster charging.
I got a se 1st gen, battery is 80% max remaining so I get like 12 hours. I tried a 8 that I got for 250 bucks new. 2 days later got a se 44 mm 1st gen for 109 dollars new. I’m returning the 8 because I don’t need the always on display and honestly don’t use the extra 3 heart features. I’ll save myself 170 bucks all day
You do not have to go to settings to disable AOD just swipe up then tap theater mode then it will disable AOD.. then just disable theater mode to enable AOD.. I always use AOD to make it my traditional watch & I don't mind getting distracted because that is why I bought it to use the full feature & even if I use AOD 24hrs a day it will last me from morning to another morning with 30% plus battery even if I use it in the gym tracking my fitness & timing my workouts, controlling my music, reading messages etc.. I only disable AOD when I am outside in a very bright sunlight riding my motorcycle to avoid full brightness or the screen & to avoid overheating the battery.. also disable AOD when I am inside my house when I don't need much information from my apple watch anymore..
I wanted an Apple Watch for workflow using shortcuts and apple Notes. So basic SE is sufficient. Now apple have dropped the notes support for watches, I am considering going back to a Xiaomi band as it has all the watch 7 features for 10% of cost. Very disappointed with Apple.
I don't think Apple Notes was ever support on Apple Watch, but there are a bunch of note taking apps available: www.igeeksblog.com/best-apple-watch-notes-apps/
What an absolutely superb review. Every word was relevant and interesting. I've decided to go for the SE 2 because I actually prefer the screen to go off when I'm not using it and the extra features the 8 offers aren't really that useful for me. There's nothing there I'm prepared to spend over a hundred pounds (I'm English) on anyway and although the stainless steel looks really smart I can think of better things to spend the extra money on so I'm happy with the aluminium (told you I was English! 😂) Fantastic video.
I very much agree with you, regarding the always on display. Battery life is also more important than the watch showing time when you are not even looking at it. I'm actually a Garmin Instinct 2 Solar wearer, so I get a month of battery life. But I do have an Iphone and I like Apple watches. I just cannot handle two days of battery life, when I can get a month. But that's me. I'm also more into rugged G shock style watches. But...that's not why I am here. I'm probably going to buy my Wife an Apple watch. It will be her first. She uses an Iphone too. I'm probably going to get her the 41mm SE. I just have not fully made up my mind. Her birthday is also in October, so I might as well wait for the series 9.
Fair criticism! For me personally, I don’t see any world where it’s a useful feature. I’ll either quickly dictate with Siri or if it’s urgent I'll wait until I can type with phone. But this is definitely my bias.
Why would you spend 700 just for a stainless Steel while you can add 100 extra and get the Apple Watch ultra and get more and more features better screen better battery life better material ( titanium ) and larger size 🐓
I will definitely try the Ultra but I don't feel like I'm even close to the right demographic (extreme sports, marathoning, etc.) for it. And I'm not a fan of the gigantic size, I currently wear the 41mm. Maybe if I had bigger wrists, I would've taken it more seriously. But who knows maybe my mind will be changed after I try it. Do you own one? Do you like it?
I ordered the 8 I’ve always have had a droid phones like pixel Once I bought 12 pro max iPhone It grew on me I just ordered the 8 watch with Nike band I feel good The apple has it right Keep it simple stupid
If you’re willing to spend 900 euro for the stainless steel series 8, you might as well get the Ultra instead, which is 1000 euro. In view of the Ultra, the Stainless steel Series 8 makes no financial sense.
Fair! I still haven’t tried the Ultra (and I will for this channel when the new one is out), but the size and boldness of it just don’t seem to be what I’m looking for in a watch. Plus, it’s catered towards extreme runners, hikers, etc, who really need that extra battery juice. I could be proven wrong on all of this though!
I love that someone finally commented on the "always-on" option. I also shut it off as the added battery life far outweighs having the screen always on
It's surprising because I never really hear anyone say anything bad about the always-on!
It’s for aesthetic look or convenience when not wanting to always press the Watch physically
@@atlanticatmosphere6695you don't need to touch it. Just turn on lift to wake

You forgot the keyboard on series 8
The premium material is SO worth it.
I dropped my aluminum series 5 and that was 300 bucks from apple to replace.
It was a small drop too
I’ve seen it happen with multiple family members!
Maybe have AppleCare then.
Is it possible to turn off always on ?
Yes, two taps away.
Finally made my decision to buy an SE because of this. Thanks dude.
