@@BradyBessette Yes way, seriously i looked all over youtube, no body does it better then you, i been a photographer and videographer for 15 years and want to go more into the cinematic side, thankfully i came across your channel. i wish i found it earlier, it will help me alot
Man, those subtleties make such a big difference, that mirror wall bounce just changes the vibe completely. I'm looking forward to watching your previous video in the forest when I get a chance!
This may sound very basic but I would like to know how you set up the lighting for your A-Roll Talking Head segments. This was a great video. Definitely got some good ideas.
Great video. Maybe you should also show how the image looks straight out of camera, ungraded. Because I'd like to know how bright you shoot and if you dial the luma lot back in post
hey Brady love your vids my friend! one question i have that i cant find is... i have a godox ul150... daylight balanced... however what i want to do is shoot warmer with lets say gels but use a softbox as well... how do i do that without just making the color temp warm in my camera? saw a neewer softbox that has a inner clamp but what about other softboxes or... a china ball?
it really does depend on how I want the light to behave, Sometimes I will keep it directional, others I'll go off the ceiling. It all has to match the mood of that particular scene; a scene with hard light wouldn't always have a soft light as ambience, maybe another hard source rather. Hope this helps!
Thank you, this was brilliant. Do you monitor your setup on your Atomos in rec709 or log? Would be great to hear more about your way of making the decisions. Do you check the shape of light by looking at the scene or through the monitor.
Two questions i hope you answer me 🌹 first thise lights were led or tungsten lights, send what color temperature did you used here or it was with a gray card? I appreciate it ❤️
Do you keep a staging area somewhere in your house for all your main gear? Or do you. unpack and repack everything and leave it somewhere out of sight? I would imagine it would be a pain in the ass to do the latter.
Thanks, Great job on the video. Also, like 99% of online lighting tutorials, you show how to light a person standing or sitting still. In most serranoes in video the person and or camera is moving. Please show how to light for movement?
Can I ask if you set the lights as 2700K, what about your camera white balance? I believe it should be custom. Should we also set it to 2700K Or? This is the problem I'm always facing :/
I felt that the flag to cut off key light on the wall behind her was unnecessary as you’ve added another light to fill up the room ambience which nullified the effect of the flag. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Nah i think the wall is still brighter without the flag than in the final image. add ambient light into the background and the light would make the wall even brighter
My favorite lihting tutoiral youtuber!Great video!

Sara seems very patient.
She certainly is patient

Welcome!
Good shaping, How long make this setting for 1 person?
probably about an hour by myself not rushing!
Great video. Maybe you should also show how the image looks straight out of camera, ungraded. Because I'd like to know how bright you shoot and if you dial the luma lot back in post
Thank you for this! I do typically shoot around 500-600 ire and expose down in post.

color gels! Check out my How to light a night scene video for a great use for warming up a daylight source. I think it was one of my first videos!
Gracias mijo eres el mejor como dp
Thank you
cool stuff man, it would also be of tremendous help if you shared camera settings iso/aperture/WB for these setups
Hey Brady, what's your process to dimming practical lights so they aren't so hot?
Where do you point the light to add room tone ambience? Do you point it at the wall, ceiling?
it really does depend on how I want the light to behave, Sometimes I will keep it directional, others I'll go off the ceiling. It all has to match the mood of that particular scene; a scene with hard light wouldn't always have a soft light as ambience, maybe another hard source rather. Hope this helps!

I monitor based on rec709 buttery lut, but my false color is based on the log profile.
@@BradyBessette Thank you Brady, appreciated. I actually do the same :)
Great!!
thank you Dani!!
Could you do a similar video but with an iPhone? Could be really useful, Brady. Thanks a lot.
I need to upgrade my phone first, it's not in great shape! lol
@@BradyBessette that's even better! If you could do one with an old phone (which I know you can) it would be very inspirational!
Two questions i hope you answer me 🌹 first thise lights were led or tungsten lights, send what color temperature did you used here or it was with a gray card? I appreciate it ❤️
Hey there owl! So LED lights, and no grey card was used!
@@BradyBessette thanks 🌹❤️

a little bit of both lol, I tend to keep things as organized as I can
amazing....
Thank you!
When you flagged off the key light. Could rotating it have achieved the same thing?
Sometimes yes, but that could lead to spilling in unwanted areas as well!
Sometimes i use colorfull tinfoil, after i smash it and add a little bit damage. It gives intersting caustic reflection.
That sounds really fun, gotta try it. Thanks!

Oreos and there doesn't need to be a why they are just the best
Can I ask if you set the lights as 2700K, what about your camera white balance? I believe it should be custom. Should we also set it to 2700K Or? This is the problem I'm always facing :/
I put out a video about setting white balance, which should help you understand it very clear!
How much percent of brightness did you set the 300x to? Could you achieve the light of this Scene with only a 60x?
It wasn't bright at all, you certainly can!
color temp on camera?
Around 3500k!
I felt that the flag to cut off key light on the wall behind her was unnecessary as you’ve added another light to fill up the room ambience which nullified the effect of the flag. Correct me if I’m wrong.

That's 😎
🌶🌶
Spicy spicy
damn i wish we could exchange our knowledge in light
done.
I sad it before but if you really want to use a light weight setup don´t use a Parabolic Softbox
sometimes it is helpful, sometimes a sheet works!
Please make a horror movie killing short
I hope soon!
BUUUUT thats one narrow, tiny door!
lol it really is!
You need to grade your vid bro
