As a film student this is really helpful, sometimes I forget that we try to make our images 3D and a kicker light is definitely one of those things that I often overlook when trying to bringing images to life
I’m glad I can help!!
Seeing your approach to lighting and cinematography makes me rethink everything I'm doing. Great video man.
🥺🥺🥺
@@BradyBessette Don't get me wrong 😂 it's just like 😲 you make me realize making beautiful scenes isn't rocket science...
Great Topic!
Great demonstration of lighting techniques. What I like about edge lighting is that it not only helps separate the subject from the background, but it brings more life to the scene to me. More character, for the lack of a better word. Thanks for another lighting walkthrough.
Obsessed with your Reverie LUT pack ❤️🔥 best LUTs on the market imo. Been a game changer for my footage. All my videos short and long form I’ve used with them have gone viral. Thank you.
Great Video! Some good advice that I once got from a DP was to start with backlight and practicals when lighting spaces.
Thank you again Brady. Your devoted student and film make here in Delta state Nigeria. ❤
This is cool. I am working in a very tight space and would love to see you create something similar in a smaller room. Seems like it's very challenging to shape the light in smaller spaces, but I might be totally wrong about that.
Loving what you're putting out there as you always get to it without a ton of BS and the information is always practical. Cheers.
Love the look of your new LUTs! Another solid video 🙌🏽
Thank you king! See you soon
Hey Brady, your content started showing up on my feed a few months ago and love your stuff! Alwasy cool to find moer creators based in Utah! Btw, that FilmLaab intro and outro was EPIC bro. Loved the lighting and loved the tips on rim lighting! 🤛🤙
Hi Brady. I have been a long time sub to your channel and really appreciate all of the wonderful knowledge you have shown to the TH-cam community. I am commenting today because I have a bit of feedback about your title and thumbnail text as well. I know this is a thing on TH-cam, but reading “why your cinematography looks bad” and “your cinematography needs this.” Really strikes me in a negative way. This makes me feel like if I don’t watch your video, then my work is bad and me not taking your advice will lead to doing something wrong. I just wanted to bring this up. I apologize if this comes off a bit rude or uncalled for. I have learned so much from your channel since the early days and just wanted to give my 2 cents about how this message was received. Thank you for your time.:)
your doggo is awesome
Just picked up the LUT + Powergrade. Shooting a music video this weekend and interested to integrate the luts into the workflow !
Thank you so much Taylor, cheers! Enjoy them
Thank you, Brady!🤝
If I had more money I would buy your luts because I love your content.
brady dropping gems, filmmaking course makers picking it up and selling it... when does this cycle endd?
Can you do a segment on how to light with 3 cameras
Thanks for the vid and the valuable tips. One concern, however: you want to take things to the NEXT level, you say, which is all well and good, BUT… have you thought about the level AFTER THAT? Or the level thereafter, if such an exalted degree of excellence even exists? Food for though, I think you'll agree!
that sentence "as close to the edge as we can, hence the name edge light" is going to make people start calling mics "edge mics" from now on 😅 Great vid as always!
I've been struggling with lighting low key or high contrast and not getting noisy shadows. In this video what camera did you shoot with as your main one, (not the bts camera), and what ISO were you at? And what am I doing wrong? lol. Help please! In my last experiment I was on a a73, with no picture profile, so basically movie gamma, and at iso 100. Had a edge light, background light and key, but my shadows were pretty noisy, I felt like if I added light or ambient, it would take away from the contrast. Should I have just raised the ISO?
Just discovered your channel and I'm loving it! One question...me and my friend want to make a music video, but we are in different locations...do you think it's possible to create the same lighting? She is going to shoot her scenes, and I 'll shoot Mine and then we are putting these scenes together. How do we get even images ? Do you have any tips? Thank you!
1st View Bro ❤
Love from India 🇮🇳
Heyo!
When would you not use a kicker?
Love from India ❤
Brady, I want to thank you for your help. Your videos have guided me through my journey of cinematography. I have a question: the Amaran panels, how are you dealing with the flimsy arm mounts? I love the light but the mount doesn’t seem durable.
Hey there! Thank you so so much. They came out with replacements ! They will exchange as well.
@@BradyBessette I didn’t know that. I’m going to look into it right now. Thank you! 🙏
it's not beer. Wearing a beer brand t-shit. Haha love it!
Im a beginner and didn't film in LOG, would the luts still work?
I’d double check with Gamut support but you should be able to put the creative lut on top of your footage !
Do a video about sekonik light meter
Do you have a lighting tutorial of 2 people sitting on a couch close to a wall in a living room?

love it! btw what lens did you guys use for the anamorphic look?
Blazar Remus!!
@@BradyBessette ahh it looked like one! Such a good vibe from that lens 🔥
Hi Brady, are your remus not to soft? Are You shootiny at f5 or something like that because your footsge looks kind good. I have them too but they are really soft
Mine don’t seem too off, I got them recently so I haven’t really checked too much tbh. Might need a shim ??
@@BradyBessette yeah I think I need to shim them. BTW keep up the good work bro
The reviews with the preproduction versions seemed to be softer than the reviews of the production lenses I've seen. Some reviewers still added a shim to the lenses. Seems like the 100 is just softer though, which seems like a common thing with anamorphics. Northwest Camera Co. has a pretty thorough review and softness test comparing them to the atlas mercury set.
How do you like the Remus?
Love.
Hey not to take a negative turn, but your dog can hear all those lights. To him, each one is making a high pitch TV noise, but instead of a TV it’s two 200 watt RGB lights with 5 squealing diodes per chip, grinding out in hellish disharmony. Listen to your dog if they don’t like all those lights, whether they’re a “scaredy baby” or whatever the reason.
No hate, love the channel, just feel bad.
Did you become a pick up artist or something recently? Feel like we're being negged with these thumbnails and titles recently lol.
you make awesome videos!
how tf do you even discover this. go off kicker lights
They’d look great on you in Switzerland
From the title: (Your cinematography needs this). I was afraid you would say: "An iPhone 15 pro Max" 😪
Why TH-camrs sucks at make titles. This title suck.
What focal length were you at for that close up shot of the girls face?
