    The PK is the most underrated cooker in Europe bar none. I got a PKTX (I prefer the original design to the new one) from ProSmoke and honestly I'm puzzled at why these things aren't more popular here. Leaps and bounds above kettles. Thanks for the video as usual! 🔥

      I’m moving from the US to Portugal, and I ordered one from ProSmoke. I am assembling it now.

    Nice video! Don't you think the second shelf is rather useless? The side opening of the lid makes it practically unusable

    The hardware was a problem at the warehouse. I called and talk to them and they sent me a new set of screws. Once I had that it went together great. But I was super frustrated too.

      That's useful to know! Do you know what the actual issue was? Were the screws supposed to be universal?

  • @darrenhurrell
    @darrenhurrell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mate, I had the same issue, I think they've taken the instruction booklet for the 300 and not modified a couple of the pages where they should have. One of the leg assemblies for example needed to be done completely differently to the manual. I built my 360 with no issues at all but I found this AF a pain. I'm still having a problem with one of the brackets that you screw into the bottom and holds the grill onto the cart, it's fallen off a few times, maybe that screw is stripped too, it just doesn't appear to fit where it should. The weight of the grill will keep it in there but not something I expected from PK. I have the Teal and even after a couple of openings the paint is wearing off at the hinge. This being said, I still really love it, it's almost too beautiful to actually cook on. Great range of pits.

      The bracket screw that you're talking about is one of those that I had originally put in the wrong place! Sounds like you have a good grip on the issue with the screws already, but might be worth checking to see if you've used the wrong screw?! The only way i could tell them apart was, that one set had some numbers on the face of them - the other set were blank. One set is used exclusively for the front shelf. Let me know if that helped at all!

      @@WilsonsBBQ I'll take a look. I was left with two identical screws and from memory that was one of the final assembly steps. One went in fine, and has stayed in, the other has been the problem.
      The fact we both had issues and I know you have assembled a few bbq's in your time like myself kind of tells me it is PK not us ha ha

      @@user-yr9hl2mk5h it’s still worth the money mate. This thing will outlast me. A little bit of paint wearing off is a small frustration, not a major issue and would not stop me recommending this grill and PK’s in general. Apart from the Hellrazr there’s nothing out there to match the quality.

    I find the upgrades on this model compared to the base PK300 to be tremendously worth it. I made the mistake of buying the base model only and immediately regretted not buying the AF version right off the bat. The belly bar, speed racks, and second shelf are more valuable than you think! Also I noticed you put your charcoal side on the hinge side, isn’t it typical done on the opposite side?

    As soon as I move house I’ll be getting one of these (or the ordinary version) for summer. Shame about the screws, but at least you’ve warned us in advance.

    • @WilsonsBBQ
      @WilsonsBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah that was probably a bad on my part, however, the instructions aren't overly clear! Hopefully others don't make the same mistake

      Sounds like you’ve used the wrong screws in the wrong places at some point, like I did. Some of the screws having writing at the top - some don’t. They look identical, but won’t all fit. Go back and make sure they’re the right ones.

      @@WilsonsBBQ I called napoleon but they weren't much help. I just ordered a $5 pack of those screws off amazon and they worked perfect. I couldn't stand not having them flush on new product.

      In my opinion. No. The size isn’t hugely different and I love the portability of the 300 series.
