They know I'm in the same boat as them but I'm married now and have responsibility. ..I know people who are willing to help homeless so I put them into check with them....just my bit to help out...it's still hard for me to get work so I go around the skips and find stuff to sell to help with food and stuff at home...every beggar knows me knows they can calling for a meal and a shower at mine...I try engage them with church for those who have gone to church it's helped them out and they no longer homeless. ...and some just go for a free meal and go there way. .they still homeless....but it don't mean I can't help then next time and the time after no one knows like me how many chances a man might need before he feels he can live life without comdemnation for the way we live...great short film...1995-2000 Manchester was a different place....
The whole situation really is heartbreaking. My husband and I bought a house (we both had good paying jobs,) had a baby, and within a year of going back to my job I was laid off. That same year I got super sick and was in the hospital 4 times. The last time I was in intensive care for almost 2 weeks. Each of those 4 hospital stays cost us thousands and we have good insurance! We almost lost everything. Eventually we realized that we needed to file for bankruptcy. It's been 5 years now and we're finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, at least financially. During this time of being sick I also sank into a deep clinical depression with the added bonuses of anxiety and panic disorder, just to make sure I could barely function. It's been really difficult, but l have my husband and we have family that has helped. We are very fortunate in that respect. I hope and pray that a solution is reached and that people can live indoors. Be treated like people, not a problem. Best of luck to all of the people featured in this series.

I have very little sympathy for Jack. I hate my job but I keep working because I have to keep a roof over my head. He's got the support of his mum, friends and other family to rely on to spend the night. He just doesn't want to work- just like the wannabe gangsters dossing around on the street at night. They can blame everyone they want for their situation, but they put no effort into making progress in their lives. With apprenticeships and weekend jobs, they could be gaining valuable experience to better their lives and get out of their environment but they'd rather just do nothing but lark around at night with stolen tools.
Been homeless twice- was lucky to get a women’s shelter for a bit second time was lucky my mum turned her life upside down to let me stay with her- I give homeless women any feminine products in my bag when I’m out and about, I’ll buy like an extra burger or sandwiches to give whoever and I will always sit down and share my cigarettes chat and any change I have I give them- some of the nicest, empathetic and caring, genuine people I’ve met have 99% come from street life of some significant degree... we understand loyalty and honour even if we don’t physically look it cause we know what’s important... then again, dikheads in every group of people you find.
The dude with the f'd up teeth is real that's a leader of men and that society has made him into joke. Stay strong my people never, never, ever give up. Keep fighting
Its always somebody else’s fault. What if it is YOUR fault? Chris saying everyone deserves a second chance? How many second chances have these people had? Take that young lad, he had a house provided for him on the condition he doesn’t drink and what does he do? You know the rest
The guy in the orange hat brought this upon himself. He cant blame anyone. Most people dont get the chance he was given. He made poor life choices. I was brought up in care too and havnt ended up like him.
Told not to drink in his temporary accommodation, which, let's face it is the point where they're checking out how you'll behave in more permanent accommodation. What does he do? Gets pissed. Then complains they threw him out. Great role model for his kids, eh. Loser.
These people refuse to work, can't blame the government for people who wants to be uncivilized Probably the same people saying immigrants stolen their jobs
I don't understand why homeless people think people are looking down at them. Its just a mind set, like some people do give money but in no way is anyone obliged to give other people money just because they say so. Half the time you never know whats its going to be spent on.
Pete S. they literally said it in the other parts, they said how " people used to piss them off so they got angry and got kicked out of school etc" how they're not willing to try and find a job and make it work because it's easier to just go prison
I was homeless in manchester, I know all of these. They are good people, just been dealt bad cards in life like myself. Dont hate on them, I've been there and we not bad people
They might've been at his moms place that he was gonna stay at for a bit, don't you think? Makes pretty good sense, seeing as the clip with him playing came right after him leaving in the cab.
This is a real issue people do want too work but when we are working just too scrape the rent and bills we have no extra money too go on holidays no spare money for things we need in our house me and my partner really struggle month too month and we both have above average wages it’s sad that this country has come too this
The issue obviously is the lack of life skills and bad environment. It is a problem in the UK that young men aren't valued, I say this as an immigrant. You can tell because nobody has thought these blokes how to be adults let alone men. They need to be taught personal responsibility because they aren't taking any.
The sarcasm is strong, in this one LMAO. Bang on though. You don't need brains and or a qualification to hod some bricks and mortar around for eight or nine hours. It's an issue that starts in the brain. The weak brain and then makes the body weak. The men and boys of England that went to war had twice the stones that these men have. The title of this is absolutely ironic. The forgotten Wimps of Britain is more like it
While I think there are genuinely noble efforts, some people are the architects of their own destruction. I've swallowed pride, faced fear and anxiety and got on with it to preserve that I have. I'm not better than them, but I'm not asking for spare change which according to this series few people have.
Sorry but whether you like it or not, that shop is private property, and they can evict you if you want- they own it, they can do what they want with it, and it's not yours to stay there.
What I’ve seen here is a fundamental lack of discipline. No discipline to keep your job, no discipline to take action, no drive to keep with it to better your situation. All the blaming in this video stinks of entitlement.
On the video of homeless women produced by the BBC 1/3 of the comments are asking why isn't BBC talking about the men. This particular documentary on homeless men came out before the one on women, but there are no comments on this video of "Why aren't you talking about the women?". Huh.
Travis: What absolute bullshit. The surrounding areas on the north and sides are shit but everywhere else bar Withy and the city centre is fine. City centre nights out are full of decent friendly people. Just too many problems with gangs and crime in the other parts.
I agree with him the Tories and austerity are a big cause BUT Labour in Manchester spent millions on water features in city centre while mentally ill homeless people froze on the street. That has nothing to do with Tories, as much as I hate them, as Labour control and allocate the budget. Labour are no better, unless you are from abroad….
why do the government do work program like they use to in the 80,s i;e doing up old buildings old waterways things like that instead of penalizing them
5.05 it depresses the fuck out of me that young fit virile and vital European young men like this should even think to say that prison is no problem and it's the same as out here. Ok I'm an older man now and I have done 3 prison stretches but when I was inside I always knew it was better to be out even with no money and no directions I knew just to be out breathing fresh air was better what the fuck are we doing to our young men wake the fuck UP Europe
myboythom this shit's not happening on anywhere near this scale in Europe. This is all Britain right there. You deal with it. The EU doesn't need your shit anyway. You can keep it.
I find it kinda lame to listen to these guys who actually have opportunities given to them, and are literally given the verbatim list of things they need to do to succeed and still there not ready to change... that's what makes me angry u can lead a horse to water but u can't make them drink u know and if these people aren't ready to change then
These people are probably mainly homeless through no fault of their own. When you leave somewhere like a hostel or bedsit you are (as the council say) making yourself intentionally homeless. I’ve handed my notice in from this supported housing place in Cornwall and have a month plus a week for me, social worker et cetera to find me somewhere to live. I can afford 450pcm and can get a flat for this money BUT I need a guarantor who can cover my rent if, for some really odd reason, my housing benefit stops - my parents have said if it comes to it I can stay with them as a temporary arrangement. Thank God I still have my parents on my side- lots of people I’ve come across who are homeless have came out of prison but they get no help when they get released. No CPN, no social worker / no. Nothing. This is why the same people get another sentence shut three months after coming out - no support and no where to live. It should be the local council who have the job of housing these Homeless lads and lasses. You are liable to get spat at, called a junkie prick, get punched in the face and even get knife attacked. I feel really sorry for these lads who’s only possessions are those they carry around with them - in a backpack. Peace all
The only people I look down on are those that think they are above others! Drugs, mental health, poverty & abuse are in my opinion the main reasons for people either becoming homeless or staying homeless.
Actually that's not true. My son's dad recently became homeless. Him and my son's godfather due to their bank account being hacked and wiping out thousands of pounds. While all this was happening I have offered them to come stay here rent free. And also feed them. I've put money into a friends account for them to draw out. He's my son's dad and so my son needs his dad alive. Plus I have empathy as I've been on the streets and it's not nice or easy. So not all females are out for themselves.
Unfortunately a large proportion of homeless people are living with mental health or addiction issues. Two major area's successive governments have failed to address. It's very easy for others to judge however, when you work with these individuals you get a better understanding of what it's truely like to be without hope.
2:45 his intentions are good but he is an idealist that doesn't fully understand (or want to acknowledge) most of the people he surrounds himself with have been given chance, after chance, after chance, after chance. As much as everybody deserves a second chance, everybody is also responsible for their actions. He sees himself as a maverick and savour of the homeless but he suffers from the same issue: lack of responsibility for his actions and the situation he finds himself in. The people that do "sort themselves out" aren't in this documentary, because they're no longer on the streets. Documenting the lives of homeless people does well to give people a glimpse of what it's like, but a relatively short snapshot like we see with this series doesn't show the full picture and provides a skewed view, biased in the favour of the homeless.
He was placed in temporary housing by the council, they did their part to try and help this man. He failed to comply with the rules and was kicked out. This man chose alcohol over a roof. That's it, there's nothing more to it.
Your incorect about the social welfare system in the u.k..you obviously have never been there so your talking out of your ass!. I lived there for 3 year's.have you? or are you going to lie and say your from there(u.k.) or spent any meaningful time there. You don't know the social welfare program's over there, but something tell's me you know the welfare system here..
What you have is these young people being born for the sake of a shaggy. The parents claim benefits for them and when they come of age they,re tossed out onto the streets and turn to crime then go to prison where they become institutionalised leave prison then homelessness. They want to blame the government but it's not the government, s fault it's their fault for not educating themselves and laziness sets in. They all want someone and something to blame. SHAME
If prison is no longer a deterrent to do crime, even a minor one and thought of by especially the youth, as better than being on the streets, , then that society is in definite need to reevaluate itself....V
Don't seem like place that should be sorted, will thing even last or get broke within a few days. Council pay for it to be fixed, just to be broken again. This happens in most towns that claim to be hard done by the council, they are still limited to how fast the can change things... A wake up call that it is not just Manchester who ate in this situation, still a lot more around the uk
Like the late George Carlin says if there was money in homelessness the governments of the world would clean up their act as soon as possible but because there is no money in it it will just stay the same if not get worse
Single white men have the greatest privilege of them all, not being a woman, not being black or not being disabled . As a single white male, you have the greatest DNA to succeed in a society that has been sculpted by white men throughout history. So what is causing this issue. It’s not money, because the things that matter we have abundance of. Free health care, free world class education, supported housing and benefits and abundance of jobs. There is a on going feeling of entitlement, that things should be given to them, rather than working for it. I don’t blame them for being frustrated, because they are under the impression that Britain is theirs, handed down by their forefathers. Other cultures in the Uk have access to less of the privileges of white men. So why do they succeed? Because expectation are drilled in from the start that you are in a white male world, and you are going to have to work hard to get what you want. You don’t pick where you are born, everyone has the right to success. But it’s not handed out.
Why on earth would you quit your job after 3 days!!!? Come on now. You cannot then be pissed off to be kicked out.

He is lazy, entitled and selfish

Its always somebody else’s fault. What if it is YOUR fault? Chris saying everyone deserves a second chance? How many second chances have these people had? Take that young lad, he had a house provided for him on the condition he doesn’t drink and what does he do? You know the rest
Its always someone else's fault.
😍😍 so proud awareness is finally being spread
Bruv you ain’t got time for ps4
The guy in the orange hat brought this upon himself. He cant blame anyone. Most people dont get the chance he was given. He made poor life choices. I was brought up in care too and havnt ended up like him.
Told not to drink in his temporary accommodation, which, let's face it is the point where they're checking out how you'll behave in more permanent accommodation.
What does he do?
Gets pissed. Then complains they threw him out.
Great role model for his kids, eh. Loser.
Chris keep up the good work
What work is that?
This series is so sad. The British government has turned its back on its own people.
The English electorate need to stop voting for them then. It’s their fault.
They've fucked themselves not the other way !!!
These people refuse to work, can't blame the government for people who wants to be uncivilized
Probably the same people saying immigrants stolen their jobs
it’s not the governments fault
Nonsense. Manchester is Labour run and always has been.
Many homeless people have done the same as Jordan. A simple rule of no drugs or alcohol on site.
I don't understand why homeless people think people are looking down at them. Its just a mind set, like some people do give money but in no way is anyone obliged to give other people money just because they say so. Half the time you never know whats its going to be spent on.
If you brought the problem onto yourself then I truly don't believe you can complain.
How do you know that they brought the problem onto themselves?
Pete S. they literally said it in the other parts, they said how " people used to piss them off so they got angry and got kicked out of school etc" how they're not willing to try and find a job and make it work because it's easier to just go prison
says the person who lives at home with his parents in his 40s
I was homeless in manchester, I know all of these. They are good people, just been dealt bad cards in life like myself. Dont hate on them, I've been there and we not bad people
I feel bad for the kid who is homeless because he had drinking problem :(
maybe he should stop drinking then?
Mike Dennington genius
Look at how small his pupils are hes on smak
WTF, man is getting evicted from his flat and claims to be barely getting by but still has the spare change for a TV, a PS4 and GTA5 !
Poulson Plays... they get those things because that is all they have .... it occupies the mind in all the empty hours with no money no prospects etc
You can get ALL that shit for next to nothing on e-bay or even cheaper "the streets"...!! you think he actually HAS something?? ;/ smh
They might've been at his moms place that he was gonna stay at for a bit, don't you think? Makes pretty good sense, seeing as the clip with him playing came right after him leaving in the cab.
england is fucjed..this is what happens when unions are destroyed..good luck/
and you have parents who are related.
People who have never been stuck in such a bad mindset, don't know how lucky they are. Easier to pass judgement.
This is a real issue people do want too work but when we are working just too scrape the rent and bills we have no extra money too go on holidays no spare money for things we need in our house me and my partner really struggle month too month and we both have above average wages it’s sad that this country has come too this
how did he end up getting the eye of horus (you know who) @ 7:00? I mean, I know how he got it of course, but...why?!
those chavs are cringe ffs
Young lad in the video had help off the council but he broke the housing rules, couldn't stay off the beer.... So he chose to be homeless
I don't care what any of you think. I feel bad for them. They made mistakes like all of us. They don't deserve to be homeless. God bless them.
Give this man white teeth and a tie, he will be able to articulate devaluation of men.
You know things are bad when youths aspire to go to prison
davy88ful truss
@@user-iz8jd3rb9p truss??
@@davy88ful they mean trust me.
It's slang
The issue obviously is the lack of life skills and bad environment. It is a problem in the UK that young men aren't valued, I say this as an immigrant. You can tell because nobody has thought these blokes how to be adults let alone men. They need to be taught personal responsibility because they aren't taking any.
Born alone die alone...fcken sad bro!!!
My heart goes out to you.
When you got some intelligence behind ya, quits his job and ends up homeless, smart move that, real intelligent.
When was this recorded
What I’ve seen here is a fundamental lack of discipline.
No discipline to keep your job, no discipline to take action, no drive to keep with it to better your situation.
All the blaming in this video stinks of entitlement.
Not everybody's born with a healthy dose of discipline or drive.
To end rough sleeping by 2020. Tick tick...
essenceofman hi friend. 2021 soon and I can honestly say it has gotten so much worse. So sad 😞
On the video of homeless women produced by the BBC 1/3 of the comments are asking why isn't BBC talking about the men. This particular documentary on homeless men came out before the one on women, but there are no comments on this video of "Why aren't you talking about the women?". Huh.
Thanks i know not to visit Manchester now.
Drdoombrain don't let BBC 3 scare you mate , Manchester is one of the friendliest and liveliest cities in UK
dont worry its coming to your town soon
Best not visit any city in the world either whilst you're at it... smh
Travis: What absolute bullshit. The surrounding areas on the north and sides are shit but everywhere else bar Withy and the city centre is fine. City centre nights out are full of decent friendly people. Just too many problems with gangs and crime in the other parts.
YES IT'S A BIT TOO DARK
We are near the end of 2020.
How many people are sleeping rough in Greater Manchester?
All the ones that still choose drugs over help
I agree with him the Tories and austerity are a big cause BUT Labour in Manchester spent millions on water features in city centre while mentally ill homeless people froze on the street. That has nothing to do with Tories, as much as I hate them, as Labour control and allocate the budget. Labour are no better, unless you are from abroad….
Alcoholism and drug abuse is a big problem of this country
Jack needs a good hiding every day till he wakes the fk up.
Yet BBC three have made thousands off of this series
they dont run adds so they haven't made anything
I don't know why the council don't just compulsory purchase this building and turn it into a short stay hostel
Josie Fox What for? So they do a short stay there and then what?
then make it a long stay .. so long as there's work there
paul pallott So who pays for there free accommodation? Me and every other tax payer because they find working a 9 to 5 to boring
K9 JSB what do you give ??? an don't worry about the other payer as there not your concern
K9 JSB I doubt your few hundred quid would pay for a welcome mat a skip
Does anyone know when the next episode is out
Out now bro
Jack is the type of kid he has to be right abt everything n if not then they aren’t right
why do the government do work program like they use to in the 80,s i;e doing up old buildings old waterways things like that instead of penalizing them
This particular episode should have been called 'Britain's *Entitled* Men.'
Nah mate,itsnthe system ya dumbarse
England! Time to start looking after your own!
LegalAlien100 where in Europe does not have the same shit,I'm English but am ethnically European so where are you that doesn't have this degradation?
The Netherlands generally speaking. I live there. It doesn't treat its own like total shit.
I find it kinda lame to listen to these guys who actually have opportunities given to them, and are literally given the verbatim list of things they need to do to succeed and still there not ready to change... that's what makes me angry u can lead a horse to water but u can't make them drink u know and if these people aren't ready to change then
Society is fucked in the UK. Without dealing with the fundamental issues surrounding homelessness then the issue will remain.
I can tell u now jack isnt paying no man back he’s the type of kid u giv a 10 bud lay n he don’t wanna pay u back
Council won't re-house guy but I bet they expect council tax for 'services' :-)
this is getting worse, soon they will be climbing over fences..blame the neo-liberals who created this mess.
Don't worry lads we got universal credit now laughing.....talk times over time for direct action
LOL the eerie editing when he does on GTA
Proverbs 4:19 - The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
You would think the mother of his child would at least offer to help him...
Her parents have probably had enough of him... he even says in this nobody is supposed to know he's meeting her !!!
ResoundGuy she is probably getting help because she is a priority-a single woman with a child.
ResoundGuy it’s not her responsibility her responsibility is the child..period
@@3muskateersme683 Bank account being hacked... Sounds like a lie to me.
Unfortunately a large proportion of homeless people are living with mental health or addiction issues. Two major area's successive governments have failed to address. It's very easy for others to judge however, when you work with these individuals you get a better understanding of what it's truely like to be without hope.
Why is it always the states fault?
@@NoContextRDHbecause the states duty is for the people
So there's no structure in these families so the kids chose crime and drugs...
Jordan u look like a decent kid get urself up lad get urself out of that dead end gridlock. God bless u my brother
He wasn't wrong all homeless people due to corona have got to be in some kind of accommodation
What a sad reflection on our society.
Kids have got more chance to get jobs now than they ever did when i was a teenager and i still managed to get and keep one .hard work and endurance
Chris for prime minister
He do a better job
Sad. You have much better Social Welfare than the States and you STILL have people on the streets with no hope.
They should’ve interviewed Vincent Kompany.
Want a better life? Get an education and get a bloody job.
bishap global86 primary school and secondary school
Trey Troy well they wana smoke weed and don't care about gcse its too late now
and stop vote labour ....they thrive on victims
What you have is these young people being born for the sake of a shaggy. The parents claim benefits for them and when they come of age they,re tossed out onto the streets and turn to crime then go to prison where they become institutionalised leave prison then homelessness. They want to blame the government but it's not the government, s fault it's their fault for not educating themselves and laziness sets in. They all want someone and something to blame. SHAME
i'm not qualified, but I'm a person who cares. That is HUMANITY,
If prison is no longer a deterrent to do crime, even a minor one and thought of by especially the youth, as better than being on the streets, , then that society is in definite need to reevaluate itself....V
They don't know what prison is like, when does young kids get locked up... they won't like it.
Jordan seems like a nice bloke, deserves better.
Its sad many have no extended family support or role models.
Bobby Contra you’re an idiot mate. Take the Marxist lesbian dance theory out of your head and see the real world
Jared W ok, convince me otherwise rather than being insulting. What is causing the problem? Why are all these white men failing?
He said shelters will be build for homeless in the areas hopefully it’s true
