Thanks for watching my channel! I now have a video on how to navigate this channel: th-cam.com/video/xJto6tKV6m0/w-d-xo.html. Want a suggested video on improvement? My video on "How to Make Better Chess Moves" th-cam.com/video/JnA-5qPDq7s/w-d-xo.html won the 2021 award from the Chess Journalists of America for Best Instructional Video. Enjoy! You can always contact me thru my website www.danheisman.com.
Hello Dan, I am 76 years old. Really enjoyed your presentation on Dr. Chan's channel. Have worked hard for the past two years. I'll follow you and buy your materials.
Meeting and speaking with you at a Philly chess tournament (I lived right off City Line Ave then) was what initially inspired me to join the Internet Chess Club. However, there are so many other places to play and learn chess now that I stopped subscribing to the ICC awhile ago, but the main reason I stayed a member for as long as I did were the chess videos. And your main series was by far my favorite to watch. I am absolutely thrilled that you've expanded to TH-cam for your own videos.
Thanks Dan! I’m trying to cure my handwaveitis. I think your videos are just what the doctor ordered! Good problem that clearly shows when one needs to properly analyze and visualize.
@@danheismanchess If it helps, my weaknesses seem to be pawn structure (weak squares, weaknesses around my king and sometimes in the opening), and positional aspects that you get through more experience. I've been grinding tactics an hour+ a day.
I have a video on opening pawn structures th-cam.com/video/0u6CihxVsGo/w-d-xo.html. Also, if you search on my channel I have other videos on pawn weaknesses. But the 2 best things you can do is read MANY annotated games (check out my book The World's Most Instructive Amateur Game Book) and analyze with strong players.
@@danheismanchess Thank you! I have gotten involved in some clubs around my area and got crushed by a 2200 the other day. It’s been a great experience. I’ll follow your suggestions! Luckily, reading annotated games is my favorite thing to do (Logical Chess, for example). I read a study a while back showing a difference between GM’s and others who spend 10k+ hours was that they spent half of it or more studying master games.
Hi Dan - Russ Brown here - always dug our lessons - alas something in me snapped a few years ago and I got really tired of playing chess but I will subscribe anyways I still got your books - they didn't go to the used book store :) pax RB
There's no short answer to that: 1) Chess Cafe is still a paid site with the rights to those columns (possibly my best stuff!), 2) I do allow students to see the columns on the conditions they not show them to anyone else, and 3) The book "A Guide to Chess Improvement" has an updated version of some of the best columns of the first 9 years (it ran for about 12).
Camtasia Studio was used for the recording. The Internet Chess Club supplied the board. And Stockfish 10 does the engine analysis. Those are the three main software used :)

You are most welcome! Hope you and your chess friends get much benefit from my channel th-cam.com/users/danheismanchess :)
Thank you, Dan! For me this is fresh air. My favorite idea was to accurately organize my thinking process.
Thanks. You would almost certainly enjoy/benefit from my latest video, "Common Chess Thought Process Errors" th-cam.com/video/Px5YWxrj9YI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Sir for this video and future ones. I look forward to more similar instructive videos.

Thanks for the kind words; much appreciated. :)
A very interesting interview on PC podcast.. enjoyed the show. Looking forward to hearing more 😊👍♟
Thanks!
This was a great video. This is an area that intermediate-advanced players neglect....very well explained.
Thanks, much appreciated. Glad to be of service. Got 102 videos now with more on the way :)
Love this video, looking forward to more.
Thanks! Have been putting more content in the channel as I have time to make new videos
I love the end game execution stuff...and Dan does a great job of walking you through the...why and why not....of the game.

Russ, great to hear from you. I don't check these comment fields often but I happen to catch your note. :)
I look forward to more videos from you and getting better at chess. You have your work cut out for you.
Greg, thanks. Yes I do! I made about 400 videos for the ICC so to make a similar number would take almost 3 years at 3 videos per week!
Thank you Dan, this one is really great! Can`t wait to go through your other ones! Are your columns still available to print on ChessCafe?

Thanks! Much appreciated. I try to do my best; glad to help.
You're awesome
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Does anyone know what software is used in this video?

these must be the strangest player names ever :D :D :D
