    Adjusting the clutch on the Honda CB350 (CL350 Scrambler / SL350) and the CB360 (CL360 Scrambler / CJ360) families of bikes is easy to do but not as intuitive as many think. In this video we will show how to properly adjust the clutch lifter mechanism and set the proper amount of slack in the cable. Additionally we will show you how the "lifter" mechanism works and repack it with fresh grease for smooth operation. If you have experienced the "clutch pop" from a improperly adjusted clutch, this will explain why it happens and how to keep it from happening in the future.

    Common motors is awesome!!!!!! I'm re fitting a 1971 CL175 for a friend's daughter. Before I knew anything about common moters these were my favorite videos to help me. Recently I ordered parts on line from a place called common motors. I thought. Where did I hear that name before? I finally put 2 and 2 together. Thank you guys.     This is so timely because I've been pounding my head against the wall for the last week with this exact clutch pop issue. Turns out I was tightening when I should've loosened on the lifter! Thanks for taking the time and effort to post these guide videos.

    Doing a 1966 Honda Dream 305. It seems very similar. Nice job of explain how it all works. My adjustment seems to be different but the mechanism is the same.

    One thing to add as a bit of general advice.. Always make sure the slot in the top adjuster is pointing downwards, If you leave it upwards water can get in and will rust up the cable.

    after dealing with this clutch issue, i can say from seevral years experience, the single best mod is to just remove the upper adjuster locknut, tee one on the handlebars, it allows more cable vs sheath slack/greater range of actuator motion so it doesnt 'pop'

    I found your video because I'Ve been having a hard time to get the clutch cable out of the clutch lifter. Is there a special trick or angle to get it out or do I have to open the lifter manually? Appreciate your help!

    Just curious, you leave the cable adjuster on the trans cover loose. Would you recommend tightening down the lock nut just to keep things secure?

    Hi Breden, I have done everything in your video, but the clutch cable keeps popping the ball bearing part apart, and I loose all tension in the cable!
    I really can't see what I'm doing incorrectly...
    Any advice please?
    Ps I have just rebuilt the top end and wondered if I'd incorrectly installed something under the clutch cover .

    I just got a new clutch cable in today, but the rubber boot at the bottom of the cable didnt come with it. Is this entirely neccessary to have on or available for purchase from Common Motor as well?

      DID you get it from us? If so reach out to our support with your order number and they can get you one. It should be on the cable but they've been know to fall off during packing.

    Do you sell the bearing & housing for the clutch lifter by any chance? Mine has taken a beating, and is getting pretty loose, no matter the amount of adjustment I make. Amazing videos, they’re indispensable for doing any work on our classic bikes.

    Hey I’ve been following you’re videos now for a while and they’ve been super helpful with my CB350 build. I was wondering if it’s possible to fit on the CL350’s scrambler exhaust on my CB350 without having to change a lot on the bike?

      They should be interchangeable. The differences between the CL and CB models was minimal and exhaust should have no problem being bolted onto and CB350.

    Fun fact: 250/350K clutch lifters are identical to Kawasaki GPz 550. I've had both. Parts are fully interchangeable.

    Hello! Thanks for the video and the continuous support.
    I am having issue with the dust seal on there. The ones I bought from CM for a CB450 are not fitting exactly and it turns with the clutch. Any idea how I could fix that? Thanks again!

      Might give it a squeeze with a large set of pliers to see if it will press on a tad tighter. Even if it does move it is OK.

    Why is the clutch depth adjustment reversed? Screwing it CW/inwards on standard threads would push the action into the case and close the gap between the ramp mechanism and the clutch push rod. Or is it reverse threaded and I just didn't notice on mine?

      Adjuster screw is special and has reverse threads on the inside.

    This is a gas line question not a clutch adjustment question. I put in line filters on my gas lines do I need them I noticed that you do not have them? Let me know if you can.

      We find that is reduces some of the gravity flow that these bikes like to run properly. If your tank is properly cleaned you shouldn't need them.

      @@Common-motor ball bearing is there. all pieces installed to a T. i've been reading and people say the clutch disks may be stuck. which makes sense because i dont know how long this bike has been sitting for. i ran the bike down the driveway in neutral with the clutch in and popped it in first and it rolls now with the clutch in, but its still hard.

      While popular via the peanut gallery of the internet, the mikuni swap for the these bikes is a poor choice for street use. Ends up causing more (but different) issue than it solves.
