Phillip Feaster on keys, Lawrence Jones on guitar, Alan "Snoop" Evans on bass and Calvin "C-ROD" Rodgers on drums. GREAT QUARTET!!!! Fred and his vocals are KILLER!!!!!
One of the greatest experience of my life! We were so privileged to have Fred Hammond come to the uk for Big Church Day Out! As a musician, I've learnt so much from him and his music and was inspired to learn the bass and play during worship at different Churches. Big Up to the musicians and singers too as they were incredible! ~ Miss C. x x
I LOVE LUV HOW @FRED HAMMOND KEEPS REINVENTING HIS SONGS. HE IS AN AWESOME, BLESSED, AMAZING, ANOINTED BLESSING CREATED BY THE ONE & ONLY TRUE GOD OF ALL OF THE WORLD AND THE HEAVENS!! I'M GLAD TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC AND PRAY AND HOPE THAT I WILL ONE DAY SOON BE ABLE TO SEE HIM LIVE IN CONCERT AND MEET HIM ON EARTH AND IN HEAVEN!! I LOVE HOW HE USES HIS LIFE'S TESTIMONIES AND STILL PRAISES GOD AND SHOWS US ALL HOW THRU HIS GOD-GIVEN ORDAINED MUSIC AND AS WELL AS HIS BAND MEMBERS & SINGERS!! BLESS THEM ALL ❤️💜💛🌹🪕🎸🎹🎙️🎺🎼🎵🎶🥁
Thinking about Marvin McQuitty on the drums with Fred back in the day, this got me in tears... 😭😭😭😭. Miss you Uncle Marv! Also big ups to Calvin on the drums!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the diversity in the crowd! I mean, wow. Unfortunately, I have NEVER seen anything like this but this is the way that GOD'S church should look-full of color!
One of my fave fives in Gospel i pray for his continued health and ministry work through his gift of music. He has always been and still anointed gifted and talented by God to lead people to the thrown on God.
Wow Fred Hammond is the absolute best at staying sounding fresh! that's his amazing talent. he can play the same song I've know for years and I'm jumping like I'm just hearing it for the first time, I grab my bass and say I got to learn to play it this way...listen to the "more rock" twist they put on celebrate he lives!!...wow.
This was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!! I can’t believe I just now have seen this concert, WHEW!! Lit 🔥 Lit 🔥 Litty Lit! Wow! Mr. Drummer, jyikes, I saw Holy Ghost Flames coming off those sticks!! So nice to hear my Homeboy Fred lightening it, AS USUAL 👏👏👏! The whole Band - OUTSTANDING..What an EXPERIENCE! Just WOW 🙌👏🙌👏🙌🙏!!
Love it. will always love Freds stuff that he allows GOD to deliver through him. Fred be healed in the name of JESUS....more work for you to perform........
I was so blessed to be in the crowd during this performance and honoured to meet Fred Hammond and his back up singers afterwards. His music has helped me through so much over the years.
because he changes it up so nice I normally feel more liberty playing his songs. my mind goes "ok learn it...cool, now explore the possibilities across the range of the bass articulation and phrasing wise...because when he does it live that's what he'll do"...when I play songs from other guys who don't change it up, I kindda feel like this is the only way they prefer to play it, 'cause they do it over and over and don't change it much...but Fred! man it's like he's saying "go ahead bro change it up"...God bless you Fred.
how am I just seeing this?!? :-D love Fred Hammond! He rocks even when he's walking with a cane! Amazing Harmonies - speechless and that guitar solo!! 9:24 - 9:44
the snare was not "whack" its called variation and catering to a different demographics ear. Don't know if you guys noticed all the white brethren there. Usually who's ears are tuned more to the "rock" genre than the "jazz and funk". In the UK anyway, which is where the event was held.
LTO1119 HAHAHA same here. My church that I play at has a new Maple 14" x 8" snare with a Remo Controlled Sound X head and it has a nice crack to it and it sounds like one that can be in a black church and its nice for funk groove, jazz and it imitates a piccolo snare. Now this church is predominately white and the music we play it more contemporary white praise and worship songs. There is some blackness in the music when we hit it lol. The snare I have has a good crack but at the same time a has a contemporary sound. You can play funk with it, jazz with it, and you can go fully rock on it. The snare I have Tama 14" x 6" with a Remo Controlled Sound head and it sounds amazing it any type of music.
Could not agree more. Demographics and understanding the crowd is also part of being a musician as well. Personally I think his drums are tuned to a lower register than what he usually plays. He only made Snoop sound better on the bass cause of the blending fills they were doing together.
That was the first thing I heard and was like what is up with his snare. But I guess he was playing for the demographic which is important. I think everyone is forgetting that front of house has the ability to EQ the sound to some degree as well.
I wish they'd have more psalmists like Fred. They just have 2 or 3 black psalmists and thest is a variation of Elevation kind of worship. I just go because of the kids and company. I get that it may be the UK culture
Well, if you know about contemporary Christian music, a BIG snare is like a highlight and mainly is listened to by a predominant white culture. So Calvin just had to do what he did to the snare, make it sound big! lol. As a musician you do want to catch the listeners ear.
Sorry bros id have to highly disagree with u.. It's sounds good to me and it fits what we're doing very well. It's a mature sound ,brings the music full circle and also adds more emotional depth.
Lawrence Jones Exactly Lawrence its all the maturity of a musician. I know you guys play the same set of songs with different snare sounds or snares but because of the overall kit and demographic this snare adjustment just fits. That's why yourself, Calvin, snoop, and Phil are the professionals, not us.
I don't know what you're hearing but that snare was full of body and it was in your face! Plus it was for more of a "Rock" demographic but that tuning could fit for any genre. And the snare wires were still tight on the drum. Also Calvin's snare was tuned like this for a few records prime example was Byron Cage's "Faithful to believe" record as well as Martha Munzzi's records. OPEN YOUR EARS and TUNING FAM! Quit tuning your snares up or tuning them low to copy Chris Dave lol.
Lawrence Jones ***** Moog168 BBT609 thnk u guys...... at least i learnt something today..... :))))) i better go start getting used to a lot of snare tones then.... lool
give me a break! God is omnipresent, but his presence does not MANIFEST everywhere like it did at this concert; that was what fred was getting at..learn context clues instead of just mouthing off ur crass theology. Cheers mate!
It's 2024 and am still here watching church day out
Me too
Phillip Feaster on keys, Lawrence Jones on guitar, Alan "Snoop" Evans on bass and Calvin "C-ROD" Rodgers on drums. GREAT QUARTET!!!! Fred and his vocals are KILLER!!!!!
Fred Hammond is a truly gifted worship leader. I am happy to see that he is still using his gifts to glorify God.

Agreed. CCM music always has low tuned snares.
You are on the money Jay and I agree with you. Calvin Rodgers knew what he was doing! I was like wow!! The snare will get the peoples ear as well.
This is a good point with sound demographic. Me personally I need some crack in the snare.
LTO1119 HAHAHA same here. Calvin had his snare set to a point where it is to a contemporary Christian style and it truly WORKED!
Fred went hard as usual
That was the first thing I heard and was like what is up with his snare. But I guess he was playing for the demographic which is important. I think everyone is forgetting that front of house has the ability to EQ the sound to some degree as well.
Lol.. true and true. ...but youre right ...demographic is important.

The Lord our God doesn’t descend he’s Omnipresent. So whatever Fred claiming he feels would be another entity possibly demonic.
give me a break! God is omnipresent, but his presence does not MANIFEST everywhere like it did at this concert; that was what fred was getting at..learn context clues instead of just mouthing off ur crass theology. Cheers mate!
