      The only Viper that looks great is the original R/T10 and GTS
      Second generation looked like Dodge Stratus Lmao
      Third gen a bit better than 2nd but not really a good looker.
      Only the original was striking and beautiful with it's own style.

    Remember when driving one of these beasts back in 2002. Nothing I came across stood a chance. Were doing 240 kph and still pulling like crazy. Awesome brutality.

      They are beasts for sure. This one had all the bolt ons, and gears, and pulled much harder than stock. No trac control, no ABS, just self control. I took it to the drag strip a few times but could never get traction.

      @@jesussoto6855 If you look under my account name I have a few more. I have owned two '96 GTS's, so there are some of my first that was modified, and some of my second when I bought it completely stock, and then later when I modified the car. I also owned a '14 TA and there are some videos of that. I sold everything because I moved to Asia. I regret selling because the values have skyrocketed haha.

      @@whitejodeci8926 I also had a 5th gen (one of the orange TA 1.0s) and a 2nd 96 gts side by side. They are each fun in their own way but even electronics can’t fix inexperience/stupid. A week after I sold the TA the new owner totaled it. I suppose that would have happened on day 1 in the ‘96.

      The poster car from my room as a child! The '96, only came in blue and white! then in '97 it was blue and white or red, but the '97 blue and white isn't as desirable as the '96. The blue and white is almost the same except for how the stripes don't run all the way through the rear license plate area.

    The car that was a massive paradigm shift in the auto industry. Without the Dodge Viper, we'd still be looking at 250hp Mustangs & 300 hp Corvette's as the top power sports cars in the US of A.
    HP grew at like a paltry couple HP a year for years..till the 400 HP Viper dropped in '92 & at under $100,000. Such a deal :D Viper made Ford, Chevy & the imports all step up..waaay up. ..but there will only ever be..one Dodge Viper 💖

    • @trademarked8320
      @trademarked8320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Motor trend made a short review when the GTS debuted, and they had a great line regarding the $60k price tag at that time, something along the lines of 1.5x the price or a corvette for 1.5x the car :)

    • @gzuzsavz
      @gzuzsavz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trademarked8320 sure. but my comment still stands. we'd still be stuck at those perf lvls w/o the Viper. our 2014 Dodge Journey is AWD and has 283 hp & gets 24mpg..a crossover! Back then what did a wagon have? Maybe 150 hp? ..sure things may have crept up the hp ladder, but it would have taken far longer.

    • @trademarked8320
      @trademarked8320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gzuzsavz just playing devils advocate; don't you think that overhead cam engines were the point at which we starting getting both power and reasonable fuel economy? It seemed like pushrod engines only made more power by increasing their size and not efficiency. What do you think?

    • @gzuzsavz
      @gzuzsavz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trademarked8320 Yes, ohc can help. I think Dodge was going for more of a 'Stone axe': Power, low cost & reliable..Viper was all that. & despite the large size they do get fine hwy mpg. 20+. & big cubes gives QUICK torque..power out of the curves wins races..no lag for getting 'on the cam' or from turbos. All those acceleration points out of curves adds up on a race course..a few 100ths each time and pretty soon that adds up. Said car just needs to hit braking and cornering speeds as good as the competition. Bonus: Pushrod engines have a lower CG & less complexity in both number of parts and tuning :)

    • @trademarked8320
      @trademarked8320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gzuzsavz yeah the curve is amazing, and the engines were rock solid until the 5th gen bearing issues. I blew up the engine in my 2014 TA 1.0…. Oops
      On the older ‘96 I owned (I had two of them actually) I did all the work myself and it was a very easy car to work on, with the exception of getting underneath, which was terrifying even on ramps. It did get good fuel economy if you drove it like a normal car, but I was very aggressive all the time and got 8mpg haha.

      If you drive it like a normal person it’s reasonable. If you drive it like a race car it’s not. Most people only put 1000-2000mina year on them. It’s not the same as a daily driver that you use every day and do 12k-15mi a year every year. That car was 20 years old and had 30k miles on the odometer.
