The two-hour special Toxic Love: The Gabby Petito Tragedy premieres on Saturday, November 5 at 9PM ET/PT on HLN.
22-year-old Gabby Petito vanished after taking a cross-country road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. When he returned home to Florida without her, red flags and accusations began to fly. Her disappearance quickly went viral on social media, capturing the attention of the internet and ultimately leading to the discovery of her body thousands of miles away in the Wyoming wilderness. Did their toxic relationship lead to her violent death? Police reveal details behind that now famous traffic stop, and HLN producers trek through miles of national forest uncovering answers about Gabby’s final days.
“What started out as a cross-country romantic getaway ended in homicide,” said Executive Producer Elizabeth Yuskaitis. “As more evidence came to light, viewers across the country have had more questions about the tragic circumstances surrounding Gabby Petito’s death. Featuring interviews with Joseph Petito, investigators on the case, and local experts, Toxic Love: The Gabby Petito Tragedy is the definitive telling of everything we know so far.”

I adored these guys and I was watching them live when they first got pulled over by the Utah cops. I immediately thought, “She’s lying, saying everything is her fault because she’s scared to death.” But the police couldn’t see it. I remember having the most uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach as they separated the two for the night. What happened later was disgusting, pure evil. She couldn’t see that he had simply used her from the beginning. And that it wasn’t love. My heart still breaks for this incredible young woman who had so much to offer the world.

Another case of her confession and his injuries don't matter. It's truly disturbing how people are defending an abuser.

@@emersonmanning6523 who are you defending, Brian? Brian was a psycho who manipulated this girl into a fight, proudly showing the cops his “injuries”, knowing full well she would accept all the blame and then evilly killing her at his leisure. Please. Human behavior is not straightforward. You are naive at best.

Abuse is about control and I immediately picked up that the only party trying to stay in control of the other party was Gabby. When she couldn't use violence, she tried to use law enforcement to do so. Brian's injuries go unnoticed, her confession isn't believed and her violence is justified with terms like "gaslighted". An independent witness corroborated Gabby's statement and the cops themselves saw Brian hit a curb because Gabby was hitting him as he drove. She was determined to be the aggressor, TWICE, after an investigation into the stop. Brian was behaving like a man who is completely accustomed to his partner's abuse and meltdowns, detached, even volunteering to separation. You have to ignore A LOT of evidence to believe Gabby was the victim in Moab.

This happens all the time on Social Media. There are so many families and couples that show the “perfect” life. But behind close doors, it’s not always what it seems to be at times. Ranging from abuse in the romantic relation. Or parents that hide behind their children on social media!

They say beware of the quiet ones.
Makes sense in this case and Chris Watts, when they blow they explode.

LOL you can say that again. I had a best friend he was very quiet kind of a loner and we hit it off pretty fast because I am attracted to call people not to rowdy you know not noisy not you know just you know like your average regular person you know.
Although he wasn’t into talking much like I was And making friends like I was I love to socialize and talk with other people and just good to know them a little more you know. And I’m not afraid to speak my mind if I don’t like some thing or somebody I will say that that you know

And he was like almost like my brother you know I wanted to buy him everything you know because he was like my best friend and I knew he didn’t have much money so I bought him lots lots and lots of stuff you know
And a few years ago he started screaming at me on the phone and I didn’t know why so I asked his mom if she had said some thing or anyone in this family we’re having an argument with him and she said no he’s just very very very busy she said that she can only talk around 1 o’clock right
So I set my alarm up for one sometimes I didn’t even call sometimes I waited until the week after to call in so he did call me back. But then said that our friendship wasn’t going to work out and because I had said something along the lines of his mother being abusive to him you know. That wasn’t even what I said at all you know that’s not even true so I don’t know where he got that idea his head but that is certainly not true I never ever ever said that I would never say that about his mother because when I was over there she used to feed us food you know feed me lunch and everything make stuff from scratch do you know. So I would never ever ever say anything like that about his mother because she was very very very nice to me when I was over there
Why would I say anything like that to somebody who’s been so so so nice to me and to lots of his other friends to? I just don’t get that I just don’t get why he would say such a thing like that you know
