  • Gabby Petito's parents have filed a lawsuit against a Utah police department claiming that her death could have been avoided. Moab City Police stopped Gabby and her fiance Brian Laundrie weeks before he killed her. The couple admitted to having a fight but the lawsuit wrongly claims the officers took his side.

I predict this suit will be dismissed once filed, there is no cause of action.

The worst possible way to get any person or organization to change is by blaming them for a murder that another person has already confessed and admitted to THEN take legal action for the monetary gain of 50 million dollars.

I don't blame the parents but I think people are too emotionally invested in this case to see what is right in front of their face and that was Gabby wanted to be with Brian. They are behaving like she was some vulnerable child who had no free will, she absolutely did and she chose to stay in a hotel room and wait for him when he was in Florida. She wasn't being held hostage, nobody was forcing her to be there, she was there by choice. How can the police be responsible for an abuse victim refusing to cooperate with them and choosing to stay with the abuser? That's what happened here. Gabby spoke to her parents after MOAB, she had multiple opportunities to leave the relationship if she wanted to, she chose not to. Not the fault of the police

For what?? I hope your being sarcastic, if not I feel sorry for you! You hold the person responsible accountable. I can guarantee you his parents weren’t hoping that their son would be a sadistic, abusive, idiot who murdered an innocent girl. Nor did they push him to murder this girl. So why in the fuck would they be to blame. If that’s the case every parent of any criminal, murderers, rapist, kidnappers, all the way down to people violating parking regulations would need to be sued and held liable.
You always hear people saying to kids that come from dysfunctional families and harmful home environments, “you’re not your parents, you don’t have to live that way, you can break free and be something better”. So a complete contradiction to that is blaming the parents when the kid is a fuck up. If the kid can break free and follow a different path than the bad parents, they can also break free from the path of great parents.
Blame the ones not responsible breeds idiots like the guy because they aren’t held liable.

I am surprised it took the family this log to file the lawsuit... When I saw the video of the traffic stop, you can OBVIOUSLY see that she was upset to the point of tears, and he was nervous and almost looked like he was :wired: or on some type of drugs..very nervous and jittery, of it had just been that she jerked the wheel and or thrown her phone at him, then he would have had much less to be worried about, he was hiding something, there should have been more done, MUCH MORE... I saod when I saw the video they could have saved her life by separarting them for more than 1 night... so sad law enforcement know so little bout abuse...
