I just grabbed my 2nd bottle of Decadence. I’m finding them all over, but price is starting to go up. I’m finding it for $109-$130 when just a couple months ago it was at Binnys for $90. I’m out of Downers Grove, IL
Discovered your videos about a week ago and have become hooked, binge-watching much of the collection. I just really enjoy them. About a year into my whisky journey. You’re both so likable, which certainly makes for a fun watching experience. I’ve never been on the Bourbon Trail, but am interested to check it out. An idea for a video might be your recommendations (places to stop etc) for making the visit. Food for thought. Thanks for making these great videos.
I love the Widow Jane Decadence. I had to try it after one of your earlier videos that you featured this one and I am happy I got it. My local store had it for $129.99 and I was not buying at that price. Drove 15 miles to a larger store and got it for $81.99. Perfect
Tin Cup 10 year was great when I could get it for around $40-$45. Now it's $55 here in Nashville. I would LOVE to find that Widow Jane Decadence. Not sure if I can find it in nashville.
I've never had the occasion to try any of those so thanks Kurt and Trent for the great recommendations. On a larger note, thank you for all the great content this year. I truly look forward to your videos every M-W-F and they've made my bourbon journey that much more enjoyable. It's a tribute to you both that your subscriber total is climbing quickly on the daily. Cheers guys.
Just bought the Tin Cup 10 and really like it. It's slightly sweet and hints of Carmel and orange (and yes, raisins). It's too good to use and a mixer but I bet it would be amazing in an old fashioned.
Great list, guys. Trenton, on your recommendation, I went out and bought a WJD. It is great. But my only knock on it would be the price. With taxes, it came to almost $125 in my area. I'm glad I bought it, but that would be a hard sell for any other bottle.
My list might be a little bit different. 5. Michter's Small Batch 4. Old Foster 1910 3. Old Foster 1920 2. Wild Turkey Rare Breed 1. Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Loved seeing some low proof selections, as I'm new to this spirit and working my way up the proof ladder. Trenton cracks me up man! That musty washing machine story was hilarious...and sounds familiar! Once again, I learned something new...STAVES. Had to scramble over to Google to get the definition but that's okay. Guys, you have helped me immensely in the short amount of time since I joined your channel. I really enjoy it and the folks I've recommended it too feel the same way. Keep up the great work in 2023 and I wish you continued success. I'll be tuned in to the live-stream and look forward to your wrap up of 2022 and your plans for the new year! Be well, guys!
Calumet 16 is allocated in my area. When I saw it last month, at $160, I passed it up for the Knob Creek 12 year at $69. I have the Tin Cup 10 year but haven't tried it yet, I've heard nothing but good things about it. Given the price, I think I'd have to sample the Widow Jane before buying it blind. Thanks for the list/video.
Would love to see a video on good, lower-proof whiskeys. I do like the higher stuff, but I find around 80-85 proof really enjoyable to sip as a daily drinker. Really love you guys’ channel. Super helpful as I’m beginning my journey.
Love Calumet 16 one of my favs of the year allocated or not. On my 3rd bottle and can't get enough. Widow Jane decadence also something I've really enjoyed. Haven't had the others yet but will keep an eye out. Another great list.
I hae one drink of the Georgia Heart TW pick, went back and bought two more bottles and have recommended it to friends and total strangers. My fave bottle of 2022
You guys are my absolute favorite. I've actually been watching since you've started but only recently been commenting on videos. I don't comment a lot but good is good and I certainly give credit where credit is due. How wonderful and refreshing it is to see a father and son share something together and then in turn share it with us. I am a straight Kentucky bourbon fan as well as a single highland malt Scotch whiskey fan. McAllen and Wild Turkey has my full and undivided attention. I hope to one day purchase some of you SLB bar T-shirts and... I hope I spell this correctly... Glen Karen??? glasses. Please keep this channel going.
I participated in a blind with Calumet 15, Widow Jane 10-Year, and Old W.M. Tarr (which I had never heard of before). All were solid pours, but to my surprise, the Tarr out performed all of them. Found out later it was apparently the first federally registered distillery in Kentucky. Great video, as always, gentlemen.
To be honest I’ve passed up widow Jane. It just didn’t jump off the shelves to me when in the store. Maybe it’s the minimalistic label, but if it made this list I feel bad having not even thought of picking it up. Definitely giving this a try. You made me remember, never judge a book by its cover.
Don't sleep on WJD. I thought the maple syrup would overwhelm the whiskey but it's very subtle. I think the 10 year age keeps the maple syrup barrels in check.
I always sing the praises of Widow Jane Decadence. Definitely one of my favorites for the year! I also have been loving Peerless Double Oak lately. Great list, guys!
I just started getting into bourbons and whiskeys the 2nd half of this year, after hitting Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, NY. I found your channel and truly enjoy the content and great information that you both provide. BTW, I was able to pick-up a bottle of Widow Jane Decadence yesterday and it is a fantastic bourbon. I look forward to your content in 2023. Thank you!
Awesome list guys! I really want to try the Widow Jane, but unfortunately in VA I can't find it anywhere. One of my favorite non allocated that I discovered this year is the John J. Bowman single barrel. It's a 100 proof from VA. It's rumored to be distilled from Buffalo Trace mash build #2 and shipped over to VA for a copper distilled final run. I've been really enjoying it.
I would put John J Bowman single barrel on my list for the year I don't know if allocated other places outside of the DC area. Really enjoyed their line up this year.
Just wanted to say, you guys are awesome! Found this channel a couple weeks ago and can’t stop binge watching videos. Love the info, and suggestions and overall vibe of the show. Keep up the great work guys!
Great show. I keep wanting to try the 10yr Tincup but never pull the trigger….. I’m headed out to pick one up. Thanks. BTW: Best of 2022 - putting Trenton behind the bar!!!
Great top 5. It’s a solid list. I’ve heard lots of good things on Calumet 16, that’s one that’s still accessible near me so I may buy. Non allocated ones I buy every year when the price is right is Knob Creek 12, and Knob Creek Cask Strength Rye (discontinued but still on shelves).
I love the heartwood. My favorite bottle of whiskey ever. I always keep a few bottle handy. I live in GA so I’ll get multiple different barrel picks and put em against each other
I went ahead and added Tin cup 10 year and Fidler to the collection I started this weekend. I saw Widow Jane 10 yr, but they didn't have Decadence. Can you tell me what the difference between the 10 yr and Decadence is? Thank you
Trenton is hilarious, his wife must know mine..shirts and towels is a no no lol..I run a store in Pleasanton Ca and we have a phenomenal selection, I never knew the liquor business is the way it is..The mark up is insane..I rarely sip but I do enjoy learning all I can and your videos are down to earth and cool to watch..keep up the great work!!!
I just visited my cousin in GA yesterday and picked up that ASW Fiddler barrel strength! Mine is also a pick. We cracked it as soon as we got to his place and it really is fantastic!
Great list guys! I really enjoyed watching along as you ran through your list, the only one I strongly disagreed with was the first one . So if anybody else tries tincup and you think it's boring, especially in the mid palate like I do, try out Cooper's craft 100 or a 1783. CC 100 will run you about 30 while 1783 is closer to 20. Both are much richer, sweeter and fuller on the palate IMO, did not care for tincup at all. Hope you have a good and safe new year's, cheers! 🥳👏🥃
I'm with Kurt. Living in NoVA, it is really a waste of time to chase allocated. My mission is to get the best for the money that you can just walk into an ABC store and buy. My current bang-for-buck faves are 4R Small, and Craig Small. Another great video, guys! (Decadence is 100% unavailable in VA)
I'm just getting into bourbon. I tried scotch for a bit and it never did anything for me. I've been mostly drinking old fashioneds. I've tried a few sips of bourbon neat and have not really enjoyed it. I just had a small neat pour of Frey Ranch and actually really enjoyed it. Looking forward to this bourbon journey. Love your channel
The pepper or sweet pepper notes can be methoxypyrazine or pyrazine for short. Found in some distillate and many Bordeaux varieties of wine. In wine, it is usually a green or vegetal note. These notes can be controlled through vineyard management.
Of the five we have only had the Frey Ranch, which we really like. Planning on going to Frey Ranch Distillery in Fallon NV in 2023. Tin Cup 10yr and Fiddler look like we can get here in CA. Calumet Farm and Widow Jane might be a bit harder to come by for us. Thanks for the review and thanks for a great year of viewing.
Just getting started in my whiskey journey and your videos have been such a great help. Thank you, and looking forward to expanding my knowledge and journey thanks to you guys!
Frey Ranch ships to most states off their site. Indiana included! If you haven't tried, the frey ranch rye bottle in bond should be on your list. Cheers
My Fiddler GH bottle says the number of staves on the “pick” sticker. Love that bottle! Great pick. Looking forward to grabbing a bottle from your barrel!
Glad to see my local Atlanta distillery getting some love. I’ve doing that the Georgia heartwood really opens up with 1 cube of ice. Really fantastic pour at $80
Been watching a lot of your videos lately. Started really getting into bourbon and man, I'm loving it. There's a whole delicious world out there. So far my favorites are 1792 small batch and Woodford double oaked. Tried the four roses small batch select but it didn't quite do it for me. It was good but didn't quite smack me in the face and call me daddy like I wanted it to. Been seeing a lot of buffalo trace out here so Ima pick up that next. Keeping my eyes out for Michter's sour mash as well
Four roses single barrel, wild Turkey rare breed, wild Turkey 101, knob creek 9 year, Old forester 100, and Woodford reserve. All very solid and readily available.
I like to make an Old Fashioned with maple syrup instead of simple syrup, so I think the maple notes in the Widow Jane Decadence sounds great. I'll have to see if I can find a bottle here in Ohio.
Was in Georgia at Thanksgiving and saw the Fiddler in the shelf and skipped it because somehow I had missed everyone’s amazing reviews of it. Will definitely grab some bottles of it next year when I’m down there again.
Mckenna 10 yr Woodford Double Oak and Jefferson Reserve Pritchard Hill finish are my always go to top 3. Russell Reserve 10 yr is my everyday pretty affordable go to bourbon.
I've been watching your channel since December trying to find a bourbon for the holidays and I picked up eagle rare 10 year before that I only had a bottle of heavens door I would love to try a bottle of Stagg next.
Any chance you guys will do a tasting of the Blackened x Willett offering?? Trent and I share a similar palate and I sure would like to see his impression before I spend $200 on a bottle... 😅
Tin Cup 10yr was a very pleasant pour and I’m glad I tried it but it’s in the same category as WT Longbranch for me in that it has serious competition in the $55 range. Having said that it’s a beautiful and unique bottle to use as an infinity bottle. So the juice and the bottle get my stamp of approval.
I've never had the widow jane maple but my buddy got one gifted to him for xmas. He took a sip, said too sweet, and he and his GF finished off the bottle as a mixer.
I picked up the Frey Ranch this past weekend and it's awesome! Thank your the recommendation. The Widow Jane Decadence is a no-show in our area so far but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. I'll share a find I made in my search.. if you haven't tried Nelson Brothers Reserve at 107.8 proof. Very nice bottle!
I bought a bottle of the Widow Jane Decadence for Christmas to share with my siblings after you guys included it in your "What Are We Drinking Now?" episode. We all absolutely loved it. It's my new favorite. Love your channel, looking forward to 2023. Cheers.
Wow! How bout that. Being from Georgia, I have seen that Fiddler often but never tried it, and really kind of dismissed it for whatever reason. Looks like the next bottle I'm gonna be getting. I wonder if there's a tasting down here!
I’m thrilled to see the Tincup on the list. I think full flavored lower proof is a good idea especially for those of us with limited consumption restrictions. Malt world whisk(e)y has mastered this and American whiskey has a way to go. I hope they keep pursuing it. I do have one addition that I don’t recall you featuring in any reviews Bourbon Pursuit both Bourbon and Rye are solid non allocated bottles.
Is there much difference between an allocated bourbon and one that's only available in limited markets? As a practical matter, I don't see one. I'm talking about the Frey Ranch. It's not available in my state.
Thanks!
I just grabbed my 2nd bottle of Decadence. I’m finding them all over, but price is starting to go up. I’m finding it for $109-$130 when just a couple months ago it was at Binnys for $90. I’m out of Downers Grove, IL

Your show is so much better with the both of you on screen. Great chemistry with both of you bouncing off each other.
Calumet is a brand owned by Western Spirits of Bowling Green KY. It is sourced from Barton. Great call on the the Tin Cup. I loved it too.
I was just going to type that about the Barton. Glad I didn’t double up! Cheers!
Just bought the Tin Cup 10 and really like it. It's slightly sweet and hints of Carmel and orange (and yes, raisins). It's too good to use and a mixer but I bet it would be amazing in an old fashioned.

Frey Ranch showed up at Costco in Sacramento a couple of months ago for around $36. Been a WT101 drinker for over 30 years. Love your channel.
Love Calumet 16 one of my favs of the year allocated or not. On my 3rd bottle and can't get enough. Widow Jane decadence also something I've really enjoyed. Haven't had the others yet but will keep an eye out. Another great list.
Great video and list! Sadly, Calumet 16 is allocated in Virginia. Maybe one day I’ll snag one.
You guys do great work, this is one of the most honest channels when it comes to bourbon/whiskey reviews. Well done boys, keep up the great work

Glencairn Whisky Glass
Would love to see a blind tasting between Widow Jane Decadence, Old Forester 1910, and Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.
WJD would stick out like a sore thumb
And maybe Jack Daniels Single Barrel Select.
@@Raz75reb agreed. I feel like you would have to find other maple syrup finished whiskeys. I know Iron Fish has one.
@@Raz75reb as someone who loves 1910 and woodford double is wjd even sweeter? Not sure id want more syrup than either of the two i mentioned.
Maybe the 2XO instead of WJD.

Calumet 14-16 is allocated in my area, and Fiddler isn't available out West, near as I can tell 😒 Have a Happy New Year, everyone!
How does the Widow Jane 10 yr compare to the Widow Jane decadence? I don’t have the decadence available I’m my area

Love all of these , I have them all except the calumet. You guys need to try the Frey ranch barrel strength and tin cup 14yr
Tin Cup 14 er is good the packaging for it is great but $79 for it is a bit much
Thanks to you, my next purchase will be Wild Turkey 101.
Thanks for another great show. Hoping you are all keeping safe with the snow storms over there. Have a great new year.

I just visited my cousin in GA yesterday and picked up that ASW Fiddler barrel strength! Mine is also a pick. We cracked it as soon as we got to his place and it really is fantastic!
Will we have the opportunity to order your barrel pick of the Fiddlers?
Sagamore Spirits Sherry Finish is in my top 5 for 2022

Md and pa can get some decent stuff if you dont mind the drive. Thats said i pretty much just go with ecbp anymore and dont chase either.
Elijah Craig Small Batch is amazing for only being 94 proof, tons of favor I love it.
I'm just getting into bourbon. I tried scotch for a bit and it never did anything for me. I've been mostly drinking old fashioneds. I love most of the ASW line. Good episode.
Should do the 5 best Irish and Japanese Whiskeys as well.
The pepper or sweet pepper notes can be methoxypyrazine or pyrazine for short. Found in some distillate and many Bordeaux varieties of wine. In wine, it is usually a green or vegetal note. These notes can be controlled through vineyard management.
Thanks for this clarification!
Thanks for the list and all the work put into it. Do you put up shelfies like 1920 into this? Curious how you decide.
Of the five we have only had the Frey Ranch, which we really like. Planning on going to Frey Ranch Distillery in Fallon NV in 2023. Tin Cup 10yr and Fiddler look like we can get here in CA. Just getting started in my whiskey journey and your videos have been such a great help. Thank you, and looking forward to expanding my knowledge and journey thanks to you guys!
Classic...never heard of any of them...great show...
Really fantastic pour at $80
I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and tried the Rye. So so good. Frey Ranch is in every liquior store and many many bars.
I love that Widow Jane Decadence👍🏾👍🏾
Yep. The TW pick of Fiddler is fantastic
RIP Frey Ranch with that description LOL
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I always enjoys watching you two!

The first time I tried a 4R SB I did not think too much of it either, but I loved the 4R SiB! So if you can find a single barrel give it a try
@@NorthWestBourbon good looking out. I'll give the single barrel a try soon and add it to my collection im just beginning to start
I have only had the WJD and can say that I love it!
Gents!
Nice vid. Would you know how many staves your barrel pick had? Thanks
Have you tried the Widow Jane aged 10 years? It's on the shelf here in AL for $79. Wondering if it is similar to the Decadence. Thanks.
Yes. Not as sweet as the decadence but I do like it.
I bought the Fiddler after seeing it on another one of your shows. Love it. Haven’t had it long, but I’m going to have to replace it soon. Thx
Four roses single barrel, wild Turkey rare breed, wild Turkey 101, knob creek 9 year, Old forester 100, and Woodford reserve.

Russels 10 year is an exceptional value. Like the McKenna 10 year too.
I've been watching your channel since December trying to find a bourbon for the holidays and I picked up eagle rare 10 year before that I only had a bottle of heavens door I would love to try a bottle of Stagg next.

Just picked up a fiddlers TW store pick. It states the amount of staves on the store pick label. The one I purchased has 30 staves
hope those come to Montana one day... the tincup 10 was here, then we bought it all up.... its really good.

I got the widow Jane last week and it’s incredible!
How does the Widow Jane Decadence compare to the Knob Creek Smoked Maple?
I bought a bottle of the Widow Jane Decadence for Christmas to share with my siblings after you guys included it in your "What Are We Drinking Now?" episode. We all absolutely loved it. It's my new favorite. Love your channel, looking forward to 2023. Cheers.
Nice video I appreciate you can give good review to non high proof bottles
Now that Trenton has taken on a more prominent role in your videos I like them better. Please continue in that direction.
Thanks again, gents! Not sure if any of those are available in eastern Iowa,
Picked up Widow Jane in So. Cal for $100. Only one store had it! Well-worth the price!
Frey is my holiday sipper with my brother.
I like your show. Today I found out that you are Hoosiers. Just keeps getting better!
Frey Ranch is about 50 miles from me.Excellent choice!
Good list. Have to get a bottle of the Fiddler. And the Tin Cup 10 year looks interesting, as well.
Wow! How bout that. Being from Georgia, I have seen that Fiddler often but never tried it, and really kind of dismissed it for whatever reason. Looks like the next bottle I'm gonna be getting. I wonder if there's a tasting down here!
I’ve heard so many good things about the fiddler. One day I’ll pick up a bottle!
The Calumet 15 was the one with medicinal cherry. The 16 is so much more balanced.
I need that Frey Ranch...have yet to see it around my parts..
