      It wasn’t a fair comparison. He did use Milwaukee flagship and he didn’t use the flagship XR for the dewalt. I am a dewalt guy but Milwaukee does beat dewalt in price and power. But dewalt just released a new battery that’s pretty good and a game changer and Milwaukee will follow that too. I use other tools more than just drill/driver though. I think dewalt spins quicker with a fair comparison but Milwaukee has more torque. Both dewalt and Milwaukee are the top contenders for power tool and good for competition to push the makers to make better tools.

I’m not a professional builder. Just odd jobs around the house and for other people sometimes. I liked the way dewalt looks over Milwaukee. If it takes me an extra 30 seconds to put something it’s all good. My choice of who I went with wasn’t based just on power but the way it looks, features and compatibility and availability.

It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

  • @heathalbritton

    There's a story I remember back from my childhood. Much like Milwaukee making fun of DeWalt, the hare always made fun of the slower tortoise until it was time to race. It looked like Milwaukee would win because it was so fast but right when the race was nearly over, the hare fell asleep and didn't wake up in time to catch up with the tortoise. Sure, the Milwaukee drilled the screws in faster but when it came time to test who could go the longest, the slow and steady DeWalt showed to be just like the tortoise and won the race.
    The DeWalt was off by what, barely a second or two when drilling some of the screws? The DeWalt seems to either use or have less power but will still get the job done and the battery won't run out on you like the Milwaukee does.

In fact, I feel the extra 10 milliseconds you’ll spend using the Dewalt will only help you with aim and steadiness in your hand. I then multiplied 1.5 x 32 and the dewalt drilled a total of 48 more inches then the Milwaukee drilled that’s a total of an extra 4ft of drilling you can get done. So just keep this in mind too that sometimes speed ain’t always the better option.

    I have had tools from both Milwaukee and dewalt. I’ve noticed for my experience the dewalt tools seem to perform the same as new forever and Milwaukee might scream out of the gates but seems to lose performance over time. Now this is not apples to apples comparison since I’m only talking about a few Milwaukee tools vs a lot of dewalt tools also they are not the same tools either just an overall.

    A circular light, or circular array, helps you drill perpendicular to the surface. It becomes an oval if you don´t. One can even use different focal points of the LED´s to indicate the depth of the hole whilst drilling.

      Top setting location on the DeWalt is opposite from the top setting location on the Milwaukee. If both drivers are pointing at the camera, the high setting on the Milwaukee will be one slot left of the far-right (setting 3 of 4; 4 of 4 is a special setting to help prevent stripping screws in hard materials); on the DeWalt, high setting will be the dial turned all the way to the left (setting 3 of 3.) This has been the case with DeWalt for a while. During the testing, one can easily see the Milwaukee on that 3 of 4 setting due to the visibility of the light setting. The DeWalt setting is more difficult to see (black switch on a black field), but it can be seen in the 3 of 3 position (all the way to the left when driver is pointing toward the camera) at these timestamps during the testing:
      8:15
      8:45

      I am not surprised you can hear the hammer and anvil system uses a way tigther tolerance which gives you more torque, but you can have kick back. Dewalt feels cheap even though they are great tools. I am also very impressed with milwaukee bits. those things don´t cam out at all. what do think of them ? What I like about Dewalt are the flexvolt and powerstack system; there are great innovation.

    • @IanKMeyer
      @IanKMeyer ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I really like the shockwave bits they are really nice however the shockwave socket adapters actually are not that great due to the fact that they neck down like on most standard driver bits is a major weak point and any socket adapter that has that will break it’s just a question of when. When I first started driving the lags in I was using one of the guys’ noveske socket adapters and I broke that one I use the Dewalts super durable and they can take a lot of torque

    • @IanKMeyer
      @IanKMeyer ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I don’t think impacts are built for that much torque personally never tried it but I don’t plan to that and expensive replacement. Impact wrench is definitely the better call there I’ve been seeing a lot of things across TH-cam about how 3/8 impacts deliver more torque than 1/2 and everyone is shocked by it torque test has a good video testing it. I don’t have the m12 stubby impact wrench but I’ve seen it in a few videos and everyone claims it’s not meant for stuff like lug nuts but project farm has a video testing stubby impacts and the m12 did successfully remove over torqued lug nuts so it does seem to have some beans. If you want to be on the safer side one of the m18 impact wrenches will server you well I plan on buying the 3/8 compact impact wrench. I personally am Milwaukee all the way I don’t want a ton of batteries from different brands it would just be a pain the only dewalt tool I plan to buy it their gyroscopic screw driver but it’s on a completely different battery platform. Corded tools can be nice just depending on where you’re using them and I think power tool battery tech has come a long way however for some of the more higher demand tools like table saw chop saw etc. you’ll need a larger battery that will cost about as much as the majority of tools

    I've had the experience of using a full contingent of Milwaukee cordless brushless tools (2018 models) and the same DeWalt tools for daily use as part of my job. Any brand has to be judged by all of the tools as a whole as you're committing to a battery platform. As of two years ago, DeWalt had a better impact driver, hammer drill, jigsaw, circular saw, reciprocating multi-tool, and radio. Based on this video, I'd say Milwaukee might have pulled ahead of DeWalt on impact drivers, but as a whole, I've been very disappointed with the head to head match ups as of two years ago.

    QUESTION-did you use a new wood boring bit for the Milwaukee after the DeWalt drilled all of those holes, because if you didn’t, the bit would be much duller, causing the Milwaukee to strain more.
    I’m just under the impression that the bit used in the Dewalt was also used in the Milwaukee. And that wouldn’t be an accurate test. I’m a fan of both brands, I was just wondering, because a new sharp bit can make a big difference.

    What i get from the sound difference at 6:30 or wherever, is that the dewalt is instant on and has a fast braking speed as well. The Mil seems to have gradual RPM increase and slow braking speed... respectively of course, they both are pretty fast compared to an older corded drill.

    I have the same Milwaukee gen3 impact and my brother has the same DeWalt XR impact, both have their pros and cons. Both are basically evenly matched when doing deck screws and spaxs, I like the grip better on the DeWalt and my bro likes the feel of my Milwaukee, both have been used and abused and both still work like new. Also, I never came across the collet issue on the Gen 3.

    Have you ever seen what Skil does with their impacts? They have a single light, but a translucent ring around the driver head that diffuses the light to create 360 degrees of lighting on the fastener you're driving. It's actual genius, and I'm very surprised more tool manufacturers aren't doing this!
