Thank you for another great excellent video. I used a version of the “heroic chronicle “ for our session zero. I was able to weave all the PCs backstories intimately with Icewind Dale. Many of the PC were born in, or later in life made, Icewind Dale their homes. Because we worked on backstory first, I was able to introduce character secrets before they had finalized their characters. In some cases I could suggest a secret that fit well with their character concepts as opposed to randomly rolling. Having the PC deeply tied to the setting really helps with motivation. Half of the PCs have family living in the Dale. Chapter Four is going to be intense.

That sounds like exactly the way to do it - and yeah, that'll be an emotional one! :o

I have never DMed before but my husband has shown a great interest in this module so I bought it to run for him and our kid. Your videos are helping me prepare a lot!
When I read the first few chapters I noticed things just were not connected well at all. You have given me a lot of great ideas to fix that!

Creepy. I feel like you've read some of my GM notes. My party was sent by the Harpers. I've also included the Frost Druids as central figures in the sacrifices. Both have worked very well. I'll have to check out your guide. It sounds like you have a similar approach. I'm interested in what other suggestions you have. Great video series!

I haven't read your notes! I would never do that. Never! But eh.. please keep writing them, I need to complete this series...
All jokes aside, thank you! :)

Would it be worth investing each player to one of the main quests? I was thinking of having a party of 5-6 and each one having some correlation to the three main antagonists.
1 for Xardock, 1 for Auril, 1-2 for the Wizards, and 1-2 for Ten Towns and guiding the party between them. With this, each player is pulled towards one of the main quests lines and by the time they're ready to tackle it, a kinship would have been developed enough between the party to help the others. This also gives viable inner party conflict and roleplaying possibilities as they have to work out their differences.
