Lily was here Chod. Her smash hit with Dave Stewart from the 'Eurythmics'
Candy played with Prince too. She speaks very fondly of her time at Paisley Park and touring with him. Her childhood friend, Ulco Bed is the guitar player. He’s one of the best. 🔥

She is one of my favorite Jazz Saxophonist!!!! Excellent musician!!!! And Candi always surrounds herself with top tier musicians. When I saw her in concert...each musician in her band had a solo or two that they performed!!!! Just Dope solos!!!!!
She is my home girl, from Amsterdam, her father Is also a very well known saxs player, fun fact she toured with the late Prince! Great reaction! She has a great band as you can see, the great Chance Howard on the keyboards, you look like you are in your element!!!

You should try some Diane Krall … sublime jazz singer/piano player from west coast of Canada.
Candy is great and has done some sweet work with Van Morrison and his band. Moondance, Philosopher's Stone, Have I Told Tou Lately, And The Healing Has Begun, Rouugh God Goes Riding. Also live with Pink Floyd, Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

This was great jazz!! I really enjoyed the guitarist who I can tell, knows his stuff. He reminded me a little of SRV in that his strat has been played A LOT and he kept his eyes closed for most of his soloing. ✌
The last female sax player I remember was Josephine in Some Like It Hot…
Chance Howard on keyboard, Nick Johnson on drums, and Candy were all part of Prince's NPG at one time or another.

I played alto sax in my college jazz band back in the day. Loved me some Candy Dulfer. I still have her Sax-a-go-go CD around somewhere.
Back around the early '00's I was really into Candy Dulfer. Still listen from time to time.
I hadn't heard of this band before -- I like it just fine! That guitarist knows his way around a fretboard, and such great technique! Candy can rip some sax! Good stuff, whoever suggested it!
I bet, Chod, that you'd like Jackie Venson. A female blues/rock guitarist from Austin, TX. She has a lot of stuff on bandcamp but also on TH-cam. She's a great player and has a lot of soul. She turned in a great performance on Austin City Limits show in 2019 or 2020. That was my first introduction. Sometimes she plays a bit more of a reggae feel, or straight rock, or funky/blues.

Not Dulfur. Her Name is Candy Dulfer. Her Father Hans Dulfer was a great Saxophone Player too. Awesome this performance. I think this were at the Jazz-Days in Leverkusen, Germany. A must hear is from the same concert: Pick up the Pieces (Average White Band Cover), mindblowing.
You should check out "Pick up the pieces" from that same show. Candy and the drummer go off towards the end of the song. Incredible performance!

Check out Hubert Laws and Bob James on the song "Farandole" from the San Francisco Concert album. Also featuring Harvey Mason and Gary King. Great song, great arrangement, great musicianship.

2nd edit: I know a couple of great female saxophonists off the top of my head in Toronto, where at least two of us still live: Jane Bunnett and Carrie Chessnut.
Ulco nearly gave David Gilmour a run for his money when you contrast this solo with the Comfortably Numb solo at the Pulse concert. Almost, not quite though.

I love smooth jazz! I would think he would love it too since that is the genre he drums to!
Her first three albums are great (my favourite is Big Girl), after that the music lost that spark for me (this roughly coincided with her romantic break-up with guitarist Ulco Bed and starting to date her keyboard player). Still great live though and you can see how great Candy and Ulco are together musically.
By the way, it's Dulfer, not Dulfur.
