Hi John. I really love the video. If you don't mind answering what is the name of that wire connector that connects to the led headlight for the ring? I've been to lowes, harbor freight, and home depot and I can't seem to find the right connector. I've also looked at Amazon and I know its called a spade connector but I can't seem to find the right one (male).
When I search "male spade connector" in Google, they show up. AutoZone sells small sets of assorted connectors. You can also cut the spade connectors off and use butt connectors or solder and heat shrink.
Awesome video, someone who knows what they are doing. I have a question maybe you can disect. I have one of these lights although my high beam only works when the rocker switch is in the middle and my left and right signal flash while opposite side white drl also flashes at the same time. Any thoughts?
you cant have the halo working for both the high and low beams using this method (unless you use the amber turn signal halo ring for one beam and the white halo for the other). you would have to run the halo to a switch to have it run with both high and low beams
So I wanna do the same thing you did with the white plug in wire than wrap it on low beam. I know nothing about wiring so what gauge wire do I need or is that any special type of wire I need? What is that white wire you are using for the male prong tab that slides into the female? I have the prong tabs and heat shrink tube already just not the wire yet cuz idk what im looking for exactly. Thanks and great video!
Hi , nice video, just what i need it, thanks, i have one question, the cable gor the amber , should i put it with the positive of the turn signal? So that way it blinks amber when when i use the tern signals?
John hello. what about the just day light on. In normaly my bike has mini day light bulb. it is allways on when my bike is working. Mini 12v bulb. If i turn on low beam or high beam, it s still on(mini 12v bulb) i connected this 7 inch head light h4 everthing is perfect but just day time light is not working. 2 wires (yellow light and white light day time light) i connected white color option to my bike + but there is no - polar cable for day time light. I want in a day, just day time light on.
When you wrap the wire around the low beam prong and plug it in would that cause a safety concern? I’m not an electrician but was wondering if a live wire laying against the plastic plug would cause it to melt?
im not positive but i believe doing so would link your high and low beams together taking away the option to run just the low beam. i could be wrong though.
@@JohnPageContraband I have H4 connection just like the one in the Video, so my question Is plugging the halo to low beam will also activate the halo when high beam is on? Or do I need different connections? Thank you so much
I have an 08 Electra glide, no DRL. Id prefer ONLY the halo light/ring for my low beam, but for the light to function properly with high beam. Can this be done?
theres 3 wires going to your parking lights. ones a ground, ones for the parking light and the third controls the blinking function. you'll want to tap your yellow wire into that wire which controls the blinker. that will switch the halo from solid white to a flashing amber while your blinker is on.
@@JohnPageContraband Went to Home Depot. Do you see any concerns or issues with using 16awg primary wire? I did find the 22-18 spade connectors...not the 22awg wire though...so I picked up the 16awg. Many thanks again...will be doing this install this weekend!
They usually use thing gauge wire for this 22ga should work best. You can actually cut that spade connector off and use either solder or butt connectors.
I have a set of these but customized em as fog lights but just noticed the holes I used were the breathing/vent holes, will it damage my lights if I don't have a vent??
You should be fine. The vents are only opened in the case that moisture builds up inside the light. Many of the cheaper ones don't even come with vents.
Your bikes parking lights each have 3 wires. One is a ground, the second is for the parking light and the third wire controls the blinker function. You'll want to tap into that third wire.
@John Page Contraband I just would like my headlight to blink amber when I have my signals turning left or right. All of my blinkers currently all blink when I turn on one or the other. When I just connect one blinker the headlight blinks amber properly with that one but with both blinkers connected it seems to activate a hazard mode lol. I feel so close to completion! Thanks for the help brother
You're actually linking your turn signals together by tying them into the headlights amber halo like that. You would only be able to have the halo flash with either your right or left blinker, not both. The turn signal function is more for cars and trucks. If it's a motorcycle specific headlight, the amber halo will actually have two wires, each controlling one side of the halo.
With the white halo working and the other wire for signal light hooked up, will the amber light come on when using turn signal while white halo on at the same time? Can they be sequential I’m asking?
It depends on the light. Most that ive seen the white halo goes out while the amber one is flashing but I have seen others where the white stays lit the whole time.
Is this just one solid ring light or is it a ring light with individual little lights in the shape of a ring? Can’t tell because I don’t know if he focused his camera on the light fully
He explained it there are two wires usually green and orange and you tap each one to low beam to see what color they are.My guess green white orange amber. Insead of low beam you can make connection to your bike's running lights wires.I like the low beam for easy option.
theres 3 wires going to each of your parking lights. ones the ground, ones for the constant parking light and the thirds for the flashing. you would run the yellow wire to either the flashing wire to make your halo flash or the constant parking light wire to make the halo a solid amber
So my question is...how do you utilize JUST the halo ring for daytime running? No low beam, only halo. Would that require a separate switch on the handlebar to manually turn on low beam for night riding?
you can run the halo ring independently using a switch but most bikes headlight powers on as soon as you fire it up. its also illegal to run without a headlight even during the day so you gota be careful. the more light the better.
the amount of power that ring draws is miniscule so if the headlight itself aint blowing the fuse, i doubt the halo ring would push it over the edge but you never know. try the next size up and see what happens. if you blow that one theres something else going on.
most headlights are tied into the ignition so you'd have to bypass that feature. you can install your own switches to control everything independently.
So I was trying to install my new headlight and when I touched the white wire to the middle prong, low beam, nothing happened. When I tried the wire to the left, the high beam turned on, and I blew the fuse when touching the last. What could be the issue??
@@chrishazleton2440 No, you will choose either color wire. You can wire one color up to the hi beam and the other color to the low. Tie the wire for each passing light into the passing lamps positive wire.
@@NothinButBullz23 you can create a spade connector with two wires coming off of it and then splice one wire into the high beam wire and the other into the low beam wire.
