Mate, you are a bloody legend, it is great to see Kiwi bee keepers doing these videos, and yes I have watched all of Trev's.
I am using this method now (well starting anyway) my first attempt taught me to really really really make sure the queen is in the bottom box.
I start my Level 4 Queen Rearing course this weekend here in Otaki and looking forward to learning as much as I can.
I too use a fridge for my honey and will be using it as an incubator, however I need to buy a separate one as my beers keep getting warm.

Thanks Dan. Good luck with the queen rearing, it is a fascinating process, and the more you learn the more there is to learn. I could write a book about the mistakes I have made along the way, best way to learn I reckon. Yes, I watched all of Trev's videos too and I learned heaps from him. I was disappointed when he stopped. Hopefully, one day, he might do some more. My "fridge" has all the cooling stuff ripped out and is heated with a bulb, so no beer in there!

Great series on queen production. Planning on grafting this season. made lots of queens last year caging queen cells on Frames, but that comes with many Challenges as well along with cutting queen cells from frames,

Yes, I started out caging queen cells too. A local queen breeder suggested I learn to graft as it is much easier. I took up his suggestion and haven't looked back. Cheers

I saw a video I think it was last year . One of Bob Binnies where he put a frame in the center in his brood box an put a queen excluder on each side of that frame an then he put his queen in there with that frame to lay her eggs . I think that way it would be easier to keep up with keeping all his grafting eggs the same age . Wow you got lucky on your time finding those that had hatched. THANKS for these video’s. I am going to try grafting this season coming if I can get my eyes to see correctly . Lol . THANKS

Yes, the method Bob showed is helpful when you are grafting on a large scale. If you are only looking for 20-30 larvae the right age for a graft it is easy enough to find them based on their size and shape. Eyesight is really important, but there are lots of handy magnifying gadgets around to help out :) Good luck, I hope it goes well for you.
