Sadly us rock fans have been spoiled by the existence of EVH. Simon is competent but really nothing special. Unless, of course, he has more than he has shown us thus far.
EVH did not do anything THAT special.. yes he was innovative - so were many before him and yes indeed after him. Thank god there is a platform for some guitarists to stretch out of the mould and improvise and noodle around and play a like this. Not many shredders are able to do that - its thousands of notes and arpeggios rammed down our throats all dialled in with the same tone on generic amps. Most modern metal guitarists are poor at improvisation - technically brilliant (yes better than their peers who went before them) but their music does not leave the format as laid down in the studio.

I think Deep Purple found an excellent guitarist! Love his little tribute to Gary Moore's Dirty Fingers!
Nice little tribute to the great gary Moore in there 👍👍👍
Simon Mcbride is worthy of the title : « Deep Purple guitarist »
Deep Purple has a very high standard when it comes to it's musicians but listening to the new album yeah he's definitely worthy
