If you care enough, you could ask the landlord if you could repaint the tub! That happens to tubs over time when they’re older. You obviously aren’t going to get it replaced, but they might be okay with you giving it a facelift! And it’s a super easy project.
Ahhhh I'm so excited for the moving series! Proud of you for taking the leap and going after what you really need (: so fucking weird that people are shaming you for roommates. Those mfrs clearly don't understand big city rent lol (or like loneliness???). Very excited for the moving series!
You can choose to listen or not, learn from someone else's mistakes or go ahead and make your own before figuring it out. But people are allowed to give advice from personal experience, especially when you have 10+ more years lived to share it. Most people did not shame, but rather gave constructive feedback/criticism. Your comment shows your immaturity.
the moment you find an apartment that feels like home. there's nothing like it!! i'm so happy you found your space. can't wait to see the rest of the vlogs!
I say sell your current couch, and get a corner sofa that will take up less floor space, and give you more room for other furniture. A leather couch would sell super fast in NYC.
I recommend having the tub reglazed. It costs around $500. Probably a little bit higher in NYC. you’ll love the result. Well worth the expense. Congratulations on your new place.
There’s paint specifically for tubs that you can use, that plus some fresh caulk around the edges would really freshen it up. A bit of work/investment for you guys but honestly worth it to make it feel not gross everyday.
No im obsessedddd with this apartment!! The layout, all the lighting, that spare bedroom for you two to basically have a craft studio lol???? I’m so excited for you!!! I can’t wait to see how it all comes together
Love how inspired you are by your new space!! No need to defend inspiration 🥰💕 on the flip side, I know the torture of moving apartments in NYC. You can do it!!!! It'll be so worth it. 🎉
Congratulations on your new place! I'm totally onboard with the deep cleaning before you move in. Am looking forward to these vlogs. All the best to you and Emily.
The way she talks about this place is mind blowing how she can do her best with this layout. I would be crying real tears trying to figure out this space.
Sounds like your tub needs to be resurfaced. The super can call someone in from a plumbing company to do that for you guys. Two caveats: 1) it’s a smelly process. 2) you might have to shower at the gym until the resurfacing process completes. MASSIVE upside, your bathtub will be as beautiful as the tile surround. Worth it in the end.
We are both moving and vlogging about it at the same time!! ✨That's wild that people are shaming you for having roommates! So many of my favorite memories from my twenties were from living with roommates, and I wouldn't trade them for the world! Good for you for doing your thing and trusting yourself to know what's best for you. ❤
Love the new apartment. I live in an apartment too. My tub was scruffed up and maintenance came in and used this special paint and made it look brand new. It was a spray. Maybe your landlord would do that for you but I'm in AZ not sure how it all works in your neck of the woods. Have a great rest of the week
Congrats! Things change in life, and sometimes it means fresh starts! Your room has such great light! It is smaller, but def has potential! This place is a blank canvas with room for so many possibilities!
It hits home for me because I just moved as well and I love seeing content of like figuring out where you will move and such because that’s my life almost 24/7. I don’t really like the place I just moved to but it is cheap so that’s good for now. I really hope to move out of here or to another unit by next year. When I hear/see people commenting anything negative about you moving I just laugh because I feel like they don’t know how it’s like to be young at this day and age. I’m 23 at the moment and have never felt like “home” in any of the places I move because I want a house not an apartment. But life can only afford an apartment right now 😂😂 Also I LOVE your channel just venting on my own life! ❤
The new apartment looks awesome. Love all the extra room and how you and Emily can have you separate areas with the rooms on opposite sides. Can't wait to see how y'all decorate and pull things together!
The owner could have the tub resurfaced. It’s a way to cover the scratches and stains. But very sensitive to bleach and scrubbers. Use dawn dishwashing liquid to clean it
You seem so much happier already! Congrats on the new apartment I’m excited for the rest of the moving vlogs and to see the finishing touches for the apartment. Where did you guys get that table it’s so cute!
if still trying to clen the bath try Barkeepers friend if you can get it, its great just rince well after scrubbing then dry with micro fiber cloth , also cam use on sick makes a huge differance, just worth a try
This will be the third time I have watched you move. I am so excited for you both! I love the layout of the apartment. I am so looking forward to watching the rest of the moving series. I can't wait to see it once it is decorated! Both you and Emily made the right decision. ❤❤❤
You can repaint the tub lovely. There's special paint for tiles and tub material. I've done it in the past, it will look like brand new for very little money.
A great solution for the gap between the dishwasher would be to add a rolling spice rack. It’s not directly next to the stove, but it it’s pretty close. It would cover the gap and give you extra storage (:
Congratulations! You should keep your upper closet space as storage, and make the cat cozy space in the extra room, it has a better view of the room, I think Bennett would enjoy that more!
I noticed while watching that the nozzle was dripping water from it. After taking a shower, you should open the middle handle halfway to let the excess water come out and relieve pressure build up, so it won't leak.
@@alexiseldredge You're welcome. But if it keeps dripping, it's either the plumbing or a part inside the hot or cold-water handle has to be replaced due to being an old, worn out part. I had to do it too.
Like you said in the previous vlog, the current has served its purpose & was there when you needed to move into a new apartment. And now a new opportunity for a new living space that you are more happy with. May be very late, but you can continue to use a cream cleanser on the bathtub to continue to get some of the stains off. It's only microabrasive & it'll also work wonders for the bench & sink. Excited to see your new adventures in your new living space! 😊
maybe get one of those rubber mats that sticks to the bottom to cover of the tub? Love the new apartment!! Cant wait to see future videos. Hope you get to stay there for years and years!! lol
I know not sure if someone has already mention but seeing if your landlord can resurface maybe an acid wash the tub. Overtime it can get like that and no amount of cleaning will get it out. An acid wash is a powerful bleaching process. Resurfacing is basically just painting it.
I LOVE that you thought of giving that storage space to Bennet! So many people don't accunt for their pet's happiness and cats LOVE high spaces to feel safe and happy!! How will he get up and down though? LOL
Hi Alexis, I thought I saw wall heaters, I have wall heaters and I don't put furniture in front of them for fire reasons and proper air flow. You could put a Ninja air fryer/grill on that open counter space, If you don't already have one. Having the bedrooms on opposite ends is ideal, I get it, no hate intended. You girls are really excited about your new spot, good vibes from the start. Love your channel, can't wait for the move vlogs.
If you haven’t already ask the super/building manager to repaint / reseal the tub 🛀 if not your can attempt to do it yourself though it’s pretty smelly stuff - but all those tub stains would drive me crazy! 🤪 excited for decorating and watching you both bring this place together and make it your own! ❤😊
What about a very slim rolling storage piece to place between the dishwasher and the cabinets versus closing off the space with a piece of wood? Fills the space plus adds storage which there never is enough of.
the gaps next to the dishwasher could potentially be used for extra storage space by making pull out drawers! like spice racks or something, idk I saw a tiktok where they utilized space like that!
The best thing to use to clean a tub is baking soda. Seriously. Cheap and cheerful and basic baking soda. Generously sprinkle some in the tub, let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub. Very easy and effortless.
The tub needs to be reglazed/refinished and the landlord should be doing it. They also need to seal the edges around the tub, it looks like water is getting in those cracks which causes rusting and mold

Love the new place! I was curious why you chose that bedroom instead of the one that is the office since it has a larger closet?
FOR THE TUB: AJAX!!! Add a small amount of water to the AJAX to make a paste and use that to scrub the tub. It'll work wonders. From there, you might want to consider adding a sealant to the top of it.
Love the new place, love this whole journey! A couple of thoughts for upgrades, the tub I know is easy enough to give a facelift to, a repaint I have seen done so many times and makes a big difference, paint, shelves plants also will give a huge lift.
