    This is an adorable place and yes the view is unbeatable. Wow. I personally could never share a toilet with my neighbors and too bad for me. I think it's well worth it for the price and charm. Best of luck to her!

    I can see she has made it home. For me, this would be very difficult living. There is also no way I could share a toilet. Tbh, this flat is verging on illegal 😢😢

      That's not a flat that's a bedroom. You can't rent bedrooms smaller than 9 m² livable space in France which is more than what we see in the US.

    I prefer laws in the USA where any building over three stories has to have an elevator. Three stories is enough exercise. 😅

    • @davidignaz
      @davidignaz  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oh I didn’t know about this law! That’s good to know, thanks for sharing :)

    • @gurikuri1595
      @gurikuri1595 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There is a similar law in France but it applies to new buildings and renovation if possi le. If they had to tear down all the old buildings that cannot get an elevator, Paris would become pass from oppressively over packed to empty.... Then there is probably an elevator in that building, just not on the side of the maids’s and they don’t want to take space from one of the nice large flats to create a corridor and let her access the elavator.

    I stayed in an Airbnb in Paris last summer that was small like this on the top floor with no lift. I felt like I was training for the Olympics. It was well appointed with its own bathroom w/ a toilet.

    Actually saw a video of a French student paying her chambre de bonne in an even more expensive neighbourhood, which room was in a better state, recently refurbished, 350 euros per month and she was also entitled to housing pension on top.

    • @davidignaz
      @davidignaz  วันที่ผ่านมา

      She is the luckiest student in Paris then! :)

    • @puccaland
      @puccaland วันที่ผ่านมา

      @davidignaz No. That's pretty common that the chambre de bonne are used to rent to students, many are rented through the CROUS which manages the state scholarships and allows students to get cheap accommodation and cheap food. Basically a student bedroom in Paris can be found between 300~700 euros depending on where they rent. Then on top the students eligible to the housing benefits, which is granted or not depending on their family's revenues, will get it and the amount will depend on their family revenues. Some students even pay no rent after the housing benefits deduction. Most students in the Greater Paris live inside Paris proper.

    • @davidignaz
      @davidignaz  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s not a house, it’s a so-called „chambre de bonne“. It’s where the servants used to live back in the days. Nowadays they are often rented out to students who are on a tighter budget.
