- Design and create beautiful garden art by adhering glass dishes, bowls, cups or any glass serving pieces together. Once ready, place them on a stake in your garden or yard to add some color and creativity. No watering required!
Over a dozen years ago, I bought a yard art at an estate sale that was put together with a screw (the plates were all drilled in the center). I looked on TH-cam and there were dozens and dozens of tutorials on how to create these garden art. Since I didn't have the means to drill holes, I used E6000 adhesive glue since quite a few of them recommendef it. It's fun to get together with your friends and make a party of it.

I use dowels that fit in the bottle. Instead of a bottle, I use a clear glass spice bottle.
Gorgeous, and so practical. Thank you SO much! We live in the Southwest where NM is going through something like a 1,000 yr drought. We just passed July 2023, the hottest month on record. Everything in everyones yard is almost dead. We're all trying to conserve water as a lot of us outside the city have water wells. This project will be perfect for our yard. We're having our yard re-landscaped starting next Spring in 3 to 4 phases (we live on abt 3 acres) with flagstone, stamped concrete, rocks and areas small garden areas that have plants and flowers, and trees that are drought resistant. I'm so excited to see this kind of art as I have plates galore, plus old teapots and teacups with saucers for the birds.

I’ve been wanting to make these for awhile and i’ve been looking for dishes at garage sales, thrift stores, etc. our park district has a 50 plus club that i recently joined. We do crafts on Tuesday’s. I told the group about this and we’re very excited to make these. I’ve been watching videos on how to make these and your video is by far the best! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to make these.

Silicone mats would work. Glue will not stick to the silicone 😊

My daddy had a set of those three nesting ashtrays, and I I always thought they were so beautiful. Seeing them again made me think of him immediately. 🚬 I miss him all the time. 💔 Don't smoke everybody! 🚭 It doesn't end well.... ⚰

Bamboo sticks will work too! You may have to select certain ones because some pieces are thinner

The plates are difficult to see against a dark background. Needs a large sheet of white fabric or paper on the table.

Another TH-camr uses JB weld clear epoxy for ceramic, glass etc, 5minute set, total set longer of course but I’m going to try it
I saw people using plumbers elbows on the back of glass and it slips over rebar
The handle has a cutter for tip and apoker to break seal
There is no more quarter dishes at Salvation Army in my city in Calif the plates are 4.99
I am making one but have not finished it. I see them made but just curious that the bottle or flag holder can hold the weight of the dishes?

No, it just slides inside the bottle.
A quarter! salvation army charges $4. A Walmart $1 bowl, they sell for $2.
What was the name of the adhesive again ? Does E6000 work as well ?

E6000 works well too. I made one 2 years ago and still holding strong. And I leave it out all year long.
On the one with the salad bowl, you have the bottle straight out, how will it sit on the stand?
It will face upwards towards the sky - instead of outwards like a sunflower or daffodil.
what you failed to show is how do you place these heavy items on a stake...you should have completed the video
What type of glue you are using
Hi Lizabeth. We used a clear silicone caulk rated for outdoor use. Hope you have fun with this!

You can make it any length! The length of the rebar will be the height of the glass flowers on display.

No they aren't! This is cheap pressed glass, and transferware china, made in the hundreds of thousands...
An antiques expert would laugh at you if you took any of these pieces for valuation.

@@jerrykeenan3557 Any genuine antique plate would be prohibitively expensive for this kind of project - it's clearly intended for cheap thrift shop finds. It also wasn't clear who your comment was directed at.

How do they stay on the rebar? We have a lot of wind.
The bottle on the back should sit on the rebar, you may have to test some different size bottles. Hope they hold up in the wind!
