I really like how during the presentation there was time spent explaining the terms that everyone might not know, for example, a concentrated load. Thank you!
Great presentation. I liked how things were explained and how you went over the differences on terms that sounded or could be confused for being the same thing.
I like the breakdown and explanation of the phases. Building the muscle with hypertrophy and then conditioning that muscle to gain more power and explosiveness. It seems like there is a never ending rabbit hole to dive into these concepts and tease out more knowledge of what our bodies are capable of.
This video gave a great overview of the material for this week, I had a generalized idea of what teams do on and off season but Dr. Stone brought all the details together and simplified the big subject of periodization and programming for sports
What a great video! I really appreciated how it explained all of the concepts within periodization. I liked how it explained in depth how to go about certain parts of training sessions.
I found the breakdown of the difference between periodization and programming very helpful. I used to think the two were the same but just different words used.
There was a lot of information in this presentation! I like how he explained the terms really well because these concepts are important in order to create a long-term plan for an athlete!
This was a lot of information, but was very important and felt like I learned a lot of new things about periodization for strength and power sports. It is important to have off-seasons because your body cannot be in competition mode for months on end which can be difficult to program for athletes who want to compete year round.
This was an excellent video that thoroughly explained all of the concepts within and around periodization and really helped clear up any confusion that I had!
So much good information in this I feel like can be as complicated as you make it but I like how he simplified it. The idea of building the muscle size to be capable of more strength, then using that strong muscle to build power makes a lot of sense for periodization, and I like how each of these portions of a program fit into a designated part of the athlete's season.
This lecture was fascinating and the part that stuck with me was how 1RM does not always provide the best method for getting overall great gains. It just does a good job of getting fast gains but not for a long time.
I think overreaching is a topic that I need to review. This seems different from what I learned in my sports nutrition class in terms of overreaching versus overtraining.
It is not only important for the athlete to understand that training and adaptations are a process, but it is important for the coach and trainer to understand this concept as well. The focus should not be what is going to happen tomorrow, but what is going to happen down the road long term.
@Jake Norman hence the word "theoretical" preceding them 😉. They are based on findings from the literature on overtraining and applications of the fitness-fatigue paradigm.
Why don't they get a pro to take video! These people show closeups of the presenter and completely IGNORE what he is using his pointer to highlight in his talk!
This guy has seriously to take some courses of presenting. I don't want to go into his knowledge that 100 % he has, but worst lecturer did not appear in front of my eyes as he did that. He may know everything, but if he doesn't know how to transmit that to the audience than he is doing nothing actually except wasting his time
Dear Carlos, I appreciate your insight... However, you missed the point. I know what he present, I know that topic. Even if that is over my head, again the point is not knowledge but the presenting. Please, read again my comment and my point.
Hey, is it possible that the presenter, Dr. Stone is NOT the one responsible for how the presentation is filmed and edited? Have you heard of a producer? An editor? Your comment ranks right up there saying your favorite singer is no good because the sound engineer didn't turn their microphone on. I sat in college lectures listening to Dr. Stone as a student of his, and his presentation was just fine.
I like how he made it easy to understand and how he clearly explained how periodization works.
I appreciate how this video clarified periodization and how it in-depth the explanations were for training sessions.
I really like how during the presentation there was time spent explaining the terms that everyone might not know, for example, a concentrated load. Thank you!
This video really allows us to understand how complex periodization can be.I appreciate how deep we can dig into this video.
I really liked how the terms and applications of those terms were simplified and explained in a way that really helped me understand them!
Great presentation, the presenter was great at explaining periodization
This presentation had a lot of great information and helped me further understand concepts discussed in class.
This was so helpful for our final project!
This is a great video to go back to at any point in someones career. This had very complex information but Mike and Meg made it simpler to understand.
Thank you Doc for all your years teaching us
This video was so helpful and I will definitely save it and come back to it for a refresh in the future
This was a very informative video, I appreciate the discussions on the problems with classical periodization and mixed training methods
Great presentation. I liked how things were explained and how you went over the differences on terms that sounded or could be confused for being the same thing.

This video is gold! I will be coming back to this in the future!
I appreciate this in depth breakdown of periodization since it can be such a complex concept.
I really liked how this presentation was organized -- especially with the topic of "long term" at the very end!
Taking my exam in 13 days. This was perfect timing
Glad to learn about the concept of periodization and how the training process is built on.
I really found it very good that this went into so much depth and detail it was very useful for me learning about periodization.
This video gave a great overview of the material for this week, I had a generalized idea of what teams do on and off season but Dr. Stone brought all the details together and simplified the big subject of periodization and programming for sports
I appreciate the clear break down of periodization. The video is super informative!
What a great video! I really appreciated how it explained all of the concepts within periodization. I liked how it explained in depth how to go about certain parts of training sessions.
This was a great video to better understand the complexities of periodization!
This was a great breakdown of the key concepts to know! It helped me understand periodization and programming in new way.
NSCA is the best one in Fitness Industry.
I found the breakdown of the difference between periodization and programming very helpful. I used to think the two were the same but just different words used.
I love he takes what seems like an extremely complex topic and makes it all so simple too follow, along with some pretty good humor to go with it!
There was a lot of information in this presentation! I like how he explained the terms really well because these concepts are important in order to create a long-term plan for an athlete!

I always hear a lot of these periodization terms thrown around, nice to have someone quantify them!

This video was very insightful and helpful for our final project!
I found this video very informative to watch. Even though this was a lot to unpack and digest, I feel that it will be very helpful.
This tied everything together for me. Great presentation. Periodization was always tricky for me to understand but now it makes a lot of sense.
Changing plates at powerlifting meets with this dude and my uncle mike( nick) are good memories
This lecture was fascinating and the part that stuck with me was how 1RM does not always provide the best method for getting overall great gains. It just does a good job of getting fast gains but not for a long time.
Jam packed with amazing info!
Spent a week at this man's cabin in Boone north carolina.....hope him and his wife Meg are doing good

It was interesting to learn about the fitness fatigue paradigm and see how it can be connected to intense training and fatigue!
I would really like to see the reference list for the studies used in this powerpoint
Unfortunately, because this is an older video, we do not have any supporting materials.
Very informative presentation. Thanks! 🙌
Periodization, tapering, peaking
Strength underpins Power! and many other qualities for that matter!
Very helpful and informative!
Wow I had no idea how drastically competition frequency has increased in just ten years!
Miss the days I spent with this man.....hank is his father......Claude and lois......nick...Jeff. Gil....I've lost my way
Really a useful. Thanks NSCA
it would take me forever to get in ice baths, Idk how others are able to chill but if it can improve performance...I'm with it now!
Wow this is better than anything I've seen before.
This was super helpful!
One point I found especially interesting is that ice baths at the correct times can improve performance. How do ice baths work to improve performance?
Very good!!! Congratulations!!!
great info!!!
Does anybody have his power point Presentation for this lecture ?
2-3 weeks of increased volume training and THEN an unload period the next week? Super interesting, I did not know this!
Its called deload
great info, insightful !
Taking my exam in 13 days. This was perfect timing
please link the presentations if it is uploaded! thank you.
The slides are only available as embedded in the video.
NSCA okay... appreciate the reply tho!
@Jake Norman hence the word "theoretical" preceding them 😉. They are based on findings from the literature on overtraining and applications of the fitness-fatigue paradigm.
This guy is my uncle....I miss him
is there a bibliography for references used in this presentation by any chance?
All we have at this point is what's in the video. You can find some of the references at 1:21:06.
Consistently training to failure reduces the ability to manage fatigue.
Insightful
Periodization really is complex enough to have a whole 1.5 hour video needed to understand it
great

Millennial spotted
I’m not so sure this presentation is for you then. I understood what he was explaining very clearly.
Why? Because he didn't say how super excited he was to bring you this INCREDIBLE ONE TIME offer for on 3 easy payments of $29.99?
