This is nothing. Cues with points and actual inlays are way more intricate. High-end cues take a long time to make. The shafts are cut little by little and left to rest for months so they stabilize. Cues made like this will more than likely develop a "roll" aka go crooked.

Speaking as a retired guitarmaker with over 2 decades in the woodworking business, you're utterly wrong. Every single tiny step - every single simple-appearing motion - has pitfalls. And, there were a number of steps not shown. We're not even including the setup, tool maintenance, sharpening, and production engineering that went into it. And, lastly, wood is a very uncooperative material for precision work. Finding, drying, milling and working the right woods while ending up with a cue that is still straight requires a LOT of skill and effort.

I worked for a US company, doing inlays on their cues. Those looked like they were using cocobolo, a Brazilian hardwood. We made a lot of butts from it. Mostly we used Birds-eye and Tiger maple, and ebony. We made a cue for hustlers. It looked like a standard off-the-rack, one-piece, poolroom cue. It was really a custom made balanced and weighted two-piece cue.

Such "rapidity" is good for mop handle making. That stick (it isn't cue, its just a stick) wich he made in slipshod way, about month later will definitely be curved in a bow and you can safely throw it away or use for firewood... Or use it for it's intended purpose - as mop handle...

@@proaudiorestore8926, what he said is right. I used to make high end pool cues used by pro's years ago. These are budget cues. Not nearly enough passes over a long enough time. The tolerances were way off as well. Just looking at the forearms there are gaps the size of the grand canyon between the points and the forearm. Also, the cues weren't even cored to provide correct balance and consistency.

What you're not seeing is after every time you make a cut on the cue, it sits in a humid room for a month or two. This allows the stresses in the wood to relax so, the cue stays straight.

See this I can possibly justify why it would be a "$1000 billiard cue" because from what I saw I wondered why this was so expensive, was the wood something special? maybe some dark walnut slabs when they made the star pattern, but standard plastic collars, and all of that. Just didn't see the labor or materials cost.

This story about the cue going into a humid room is bad science, wood will actually bend if the humidity around it is cycled up and down. I’ve been doing woodwork most of my life and started turning wood in 2008 after I lost half my sight, you can believe that to make a cue worth that much money it is done 100% by hand tools not in a manufacturing line.

С точки зрения обработки дерева - выше всяких похвал. Superb woodwork. С точки зрения играбельности кия, где цельноточенный шафт не учитывает структуру древесного волокна и, следовательно, его разный изгиб в стороны - кий так себе. This is ancient technology that makes every screw or spin hit unpredictable. Зажгите деревянную спичку - она будет изгибаться в стороны в процессе горения именно из-за разного напряжения волокон. Light a wooden match - it will bend to the sides during the burning process precisely because of the different tension of the fibers.
