I can see a massive problem right away, if your computer is pretty basic without decent power behind it, like a standard laptop or something which the average consumer will have or a general desktop or phone, the site will be way too laggy to run properly. With anything you want to be massively adopted you kinda have to think about the grand picture of consumers. Most of us would rather go to a regular website to find things and shop. Plus a lot of video games are past this level of graphics anyway so I don't see how gamers would even be into this.
The first metaverse of this kind - second life - haven't become very popular and now it's almost dead. So how is Decentraland different? To me, it's pretty much the same thing.

@@DJMAGICBREX yes, in SL avatars are more realistic and are fully customizable, from nail polish to the eyelashes. And I myself would like to know what the difference is.😃 Beside the NFT thing. I don't see anything new that Decentraland offers...

In 2009 i was simply surfing the internet found many things gud & bad stuff like going to dark net ,Orkut, facebook , omegle, twitter etc thus gets registered instant, also we use to play nfs most wanted , counterstrike only with Hostel Wifi & many more which i din't remember now...........but what a journey woaw :-
Let me know if Mark hires Philip Rosedale. Then you have my attention. Or William Burns who was the Academic Contributor and literally wrote the academic book on the Decentralized Metaverse (INRIA) March 1, 2008 Does Mark Zuckerberg even do research before making these claims? Or does he think he can't be touched by reality.
I feel like a game needs a grassroots start be and be fun first before companies should be dropping millions on virtual lands. There's many games that are released unfinished or bad and then the player base leaves :/
Guarantee there will be all sorts of crimes and gangs and things sprouting there if they don’t make serious rules as they build it out. That happened with the Sims online years ago. They started some gangs and violating the avatars in there and they had to shut it down.
I was hoping that Decentraland would be accessible with a VR headset, but it's only 2D - as a VR enthusiast - AltspaceVR & VRChat are a lot better for the true immersive metaverse experience.
I’ve been in the Oculus Metaverse, called “Infiniverse”. The coolest part is that it’s entirely in VR. I can see it having massive appeal all the way around! It’s leaps and bounds, even in its “pre-beta” stage, beyond these other flat 2D worlds. Just my opinion! I checked out Zuck’s seemingly creepy (turns out it was just HIM!!) world! It’s pretty dang awesome!
These metaverse was already here. It was first introduce at least for me back when Playstation 3 was promoting Playstation Home. But had to stop it because not enough market for it. But was into it. Hopefully these metaverse from Decentraland, Microsoft, Meta from Facebook do it better. I'm sure Playstation will probably bring out their own as well.
Reminds of when I used to play imvu and smallworlds. Had a whole 3d life on those games. Lol. On imvu I had my own store too. You could develop stuff and sell it. Wow. Ha!
Will Decentraland including everything already built ever upgrade to a better 3D interface with better graphics or will remain with that cheap primitive look? and will Decentraland ever be able to be explored with a VR set like oculus for example?
That’s the reason I didn’t invest in decentraland when there are games that have way better 3D I don’t get it how people are spending millions buying lots of land if the graphics are so basic
@@BritishExpatWorldTraveler Trust the process, I wouldn't be surprised if Meta bought out Decentraland in 5 years. I haven’t play video games since “Castle Wolfenstain” should I spend time in this metaverce? or just hold the coins ?
You skipped quite a bit of the startup. With the wallet etc. Not good for beginners
Speaking of metaverses - I saw a Star Atlas saved bookmark :)
Video to follow?
Why did you say in he video “You don’t want to be running?”
So you spend money to use it, but how can you earn money? Seems like a pointless waste of time if you can't earn.
I’m a nutshell it’s secondlife done the right way
Thanks for the video
This looks like video games 20 years old.
The first metaverse of this kind - second life - haven't become very popular and now it's almost dead. So how is Decentraland different? To me, it's pretty much the same thing.
Ciao Xenia but this is not like Linden Secondlife? And if not what is the difference? Well I think looking at the avatar, in SL are even better and more detailed the avatar mesh than this in this new world no?
@@DJMAGICBREX yes, in SL avatars are more realistic and are fully customizable, from nail polish to the eyelashes. And I myself would like to know what the difference is.😃 Beside the NFT thing.
I don't see anything new that Decentraland offers...
I wonder if the game Second Life fits into the METAverse
It does
Wait, second life is real? I thought that was just a joke on the Office
Can you explore decentraland using a
smart phone?
I remember same kind of virtual game i use to play i.e (Second Life), back in college life 2009 in my laptop , before in school life i use to play god of war , football, tekken in playstation, recoil, nfs HP2and most wanted, csk etc .
Or William Burns who was the Academic Contributor and literally wrote the academic book on the Decentralized Metaverse (INRIA) March 1, 2008
Does Mark Zuckerberg even do research before making these claims? Or does he think he can't be touched by reality.
I feel like a game needs a grassroots start be and be fun first before companies should be dropping millions on virtual lands. There's many games that are released unfinished or bad and then the player base leaves :/
i cant wait till the veve-verse!
how can I make my avatar dance?
I wonder what will happen if someone made NFT clothes copying brands like Adidas and Nike, how a decentralized system will figure that out?
Guarantee there will be all sorts of crimes and gangs and things sprouting there if they don’t make serious rules as they build it out. That happened with the Sims online years ago. They started some gangs and violating the avatars in there and they had to shut it down.
Great vid, your content is always on point. No fluff
SecondLife has been around for over 18 years lol
its exactly the same as second life with NFT;s and crypto in exchange of Linden Dollars.
I was hoping that Decentraland would be accessible with a VR headset, but it's only 2D - as a VR enthusiast - AltspaceVR & VRChat are a lot better for the true immersive metaverse experience.
So. When will world like sao willexist
It’s pretty dang awesome!
shill
Deluded
If you saw what VR can actually do you’d think this is shit like everyone else
These metaverse was already here. It was first introduce at least for me back when Playstation 3 was promoting Playstation Home. But had to stop it because not enough market for it. But was into it. Hopefully these metaverse from Decentraland, Microsoft, Meta from Facebook do it better. I'm sure Playstation will probably bring out their own as well.
Yes I know there is a couple more.
Reminds of when I used to play imvu and smallworlds. Had a whole 3d life on those games. Lol. On imvu I had my own store too. You could develop stuff and sell it. Wow. Ha!
I miss sw
Me too, I still have an avi on imvu and shop
Thank you. Great intro to a new reality
the genesis waterfall wasn’t there before, it came in after the pump
Good content. Thank you. Great explanation and “walk through”. ;)
I can't find anyone in this game.
Lots going on, and Cromuland has great shows to jump into IE Stoney & Friends
Will Decentraland including everything already built ever upgrade to a better 3D interface with better graphics or will remain with that cheap primitive look? and will Decentraland ever be able to be explored with a VR set like oculus for example?
I don't know if it's the network effect, but the graphics (to me) look a bit better than a few months ago.
Think of it as mostly paid ad space for now, the people who know what a metaverse is are definitely going to be in tune with the blockchain and crypto. In 5 years or more the space will be full of people with deep pockets, investing and spending will be at all time high. (IMO)
@@stephenneary1835 Thanks for the insight. What do you think about SandBox? they have more partners (including Binance) than Decentraland. Might Sandbox have a brighter future than Decentraland?
@@BritishExpatWorldTraveler 86% of SAND is owned by 10 people. Meanwhile 45% of MANA is owned by 10 people. Make your own mind up, but what is better for you?
Too taxing on my computer. They need to fix that.
You can jump in about 4 minutes in and not miss anything.
WHY WOULD ANYONE WASTE TIME IN DECENTRALAND
Why do I think Rockstar planning to make GTA 6 a METAVERSE or we never get GTA 6 but a wild meta verse world to mess around with.
Is haribo hotel not the og????
My only problem with these style play to earn games is that they are generating income hand over fist from indie content creators and giving them peanuts in return.
thanks, good explaination!
You are a fantastic host, I'm glad I found you, where are you from? I'm just learning about this platform and would like to figure out how to invest in it ... seems like the future. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Rebecca
Haha loved it. You really do like Mark and FB...
This is like roblox but geared to adults
Is RuneScape decentralised?
Love this and love the avatar Barnet! 🤣 very interested in getting into the metaverse but think I need a new computer as mines very slow and old!
This looks like a Commodore 64 game from 1983.
Kids already do this, it's called Minecraft
Mark said "fully" exist yet
People see something new and they hear someone made money so they get the fear of missing out. Blockchain maybe the wave of the future, but to get there there will be a lot of people that want to trick you to get your money, your job is figure out who are these people and stay away from them.
To be fair Mark said the Metaverse doesn't fully exist yet which it doesn't. It will undoubtedly be much more emersive in 2 or 3 years. I understand though, we all hate Mark and his privacy infringing Facebook.
GTA is the metaverse.. zuk is just copying again. Like he copied Snapchat stories, like he copied tiktok reels like he currently is in court cases with the word meta coz another company has his name already and also copied a companys logo. Nothing he does is authentic.
@@joekara not of you see vr as a significant part of the metaverse, if you don't, every online game could almost be considered a metaverse xD
@@joekara GTA is definitely not the metaverse lmao nor was it intended to be lol. Minecraft is more metaverse than GTA. Metaverse is obviously drawing inspiration from online gaming and the MMO genre in general
The Oculus Metaverse called “Infiniverse” isn’t owned by FB.
Playstation home was the METAverse before the METAverse, it just wasn't in vr
Nice SM7B
This remind playstaion home
it doesn't work now, technical issues
Def getting roblox vibes… my kids are gonna love this
