I played pokemon snap for 10 minutes then Quit for life. Hey everybody Its a pokemon game. Can we train & Battle Pokemon against other players? NOPE but you can just walk around taking pictures of pokemon. WOW so for $70 we can just walk around in VR taking pictures of pokemon that NOBODY will care about? Every player has probably already taking a picture & Seen your picture already. I'd rather See a open world Pokemon game with VR Mode like BOWT. Lets face it imagine batting Mewtwo in VR

Listen I'm a PS guy & I'm Sold on the switch, I Bought one for BOTW, Lets Go pikachu & soon Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 a Switch exclusive. But again what makes Pokemon Snap a Great game? If I'm Going to Invest in Switch VR a more Logical game is Metroid rumored for 2021. Imagine a cardboard Metroid Blaster thats functional. A proper Hands free VR attachment. The Black Pilled Oh no! It’s going to take so much strength to hold up the Switch!! However will people be able to use this without a headstrap? Clearly you have no idea WHATSOEVER what this kit is all about. All the add ons are designed for the player to hold the device up.
Would it be nice to have a dedicated headstrap for a VR experience? Yes. But none of these VR showpieces would benefit from that. Maybe down the line Nintendo will release a headstrap, and more ‘traditional’ VR experiences (for traditional, essentially read unimaginative) The Labo VR kit is so innovative in its approach to VR gaming.

Mario and Breath of the Wild are getting updates to play with this VR kit. Why so hard to think Metroid Prime 4, which is years out now, will not support this?
i'm guessing that they'll make a minigame for the cannon, not the full game tho
Metroid Trilogy with VR would be their best move, but Labo VR wouldn't work with motion controls so that may present problems with the third game. I would hope Prime 4 pushes the system harder than a Wii U game (BotW) which would make VR difficult.

I played this at my brother’s place tonight and I, convinced, ordering one tomorrow.
They really should make a full Pokémon Snap for the Labo Camera. Or most likely a VR compatible photo mode within Pokémon Sword/Shield.

Having the option to play it without VR is so important, that way you can show other people how to play without having them being the only ones to see
Good idea with having your nieces and Tom help you with this review. VR indeed can be very subjective so it’s good to get other people’s views on the experience as well (especially kids).
I hope Labo VR does better than the previous Labos because this is something that has a lot of potential to grow unlike the other Labos. They do need to figure out the headset though because how am I supposed to play BotW when I’m holding it on my head?
I think it shouldn't be hard to add an elastic band to the headset. You just have to add a little hole on each side in front of your ears. I'm not even sure if These holes aren't already there. You can see a black plastic ring at 15:47 which might be there exactly for one. But I don't have the set myself (yet?), so I can just assume that.

I'm curious about how it works with BotW. Do you control the camera with head movement, still with the right stick, or both?
It's understandable that it doesn't work with prerendered cutscenes, but what qualifies as such?
Will it drain the battery even faster than regular BotW?
@@pallao3500 i think part of labo is building your own toycons, so theoretically you could add your own head straps as long as your careful with it. maybe you could glue it to a hat lol. idk.

Loved the video! It was very in-depth and makes me more eager for Labo VR!
I do agree that limiting the Labo Garage creations from online sharing is a bummer, but also it's likely a safety feature to protect unmonitored younger players from downloading unwanted (horror for example) or inappropriate (game has genitalia recreated in it) content.
And much like Super Mario Maker, it's too late to report a violating upload after it's been downloaded & played because it's already been viewed by the reporting player.
Now VR uploads might be sparse enough that a team at Nintendo can be created to review submissions before it's made available for public sharing.
But if public online sharing is too risky, Nintendo might want to consider private sharing like the trading system used in Pokemon: Let's Go! where you have to know the person (or at the very least, be in consistent communication with the other player) in order to share VR Garage content. That might reduce the liability of Nintendo as long as Nintendo states the player, not Nintendo, is responsible for the communication with other players.

Using the blaster or the elephant, I can easily see actual vr games working with this. Job simulator could get away with the elephant arm, and the blaster could work for (maybe Metroid prime???)

Now they just need to make games (whether big budget or small) that uses the VR, like an obvious Pokemon Snap Sequel, Metroid Blaster mini game or a control option for Prime 4. Doing this, along with adding more compatibility with other games, will make this VR stand out and sell well, which in turn, will make Nintendo look into a full VR experience in the future.

Turning motion blur is very intentional. It's one of the vr development techniques used to reduce the risk of motion sickness.

actually it's the same with lego, building lego is more interesting and takes longer than playing with it. It's the same for labo and there is nothing wrong with it
I guess it depends on your expectations. Lego is more self explanatory and all the playing you do with it relies on your decisions, whereas with video games you're always getting a premade experience. I can tell you that I played for longer with my bionicle than I spent time building them. The variety kit also offered many really shallow experiences that could have been easily made more interesting with just few additions/changes.
I want this just for the VR garage and hopefully an eventual Pokemon Snap
That Toycon Garage creator looks so cool, but so intimidating. It makes me wonder how the PlayStation exclusive, Dreams, will pan out. If Toycon Garage had online sharing, it could be Nintendo's answer to Dreams.

My guess is Nintendo's worried about the... less appropriate things some people might upload, had they allowed online sharing. I really wish they would, but I suppose it's understandable.

I loved the veichle kit, mainly because of the variety of missions and the cross compatibility with Mario Kart. If I had a great experience with the veichle kit, judging by your review, this will probably be added to my wish list!

What’s the point? Surely VR experiences are meant to be totally immersive - don’t think any games with a third person perspective can achieve this; wouldn’t it be akin to playing both these games, but with the Switch pressed up against your face?
The reason the VR kit is getting the praise it’s receiving is because of how it makes you feel like you’re in the world you’re inhabiting. Part of this is the first person view in these games, and the add ons also give the games extra depth.
If you want to know how Mario and BoTW would feel in VR, put an elastic band round your Switch, strap it around your head and hey presto - you’re pretty much there.

@@andyc6542 This really bugs me. Everyone says this, but no one realizes what a stupid idea that is. YOU STILL NEED TO TURN THE CAMERA WITH THE STICK. The idea of VR is to look around physically and see the world around you. Yes, the way they put VR into botw isn't great, but putting your switch against your face won't give you the same experience at all.

Awesome review Andre! You guys did a great job of showing off the gameplay AND how it looks in action IRL. I especially enjoyed the b-roll, go-pro footage, and Tom cameo! I actually want to try this out whereas I didn't have an interest with the original labo set.
You could create an accurate drum set in garage if you got 2 sets. 2 wind pedals, 2 joycons, and mod a strap into the base headset, you're good. And really, you could do it without the vr mode and play it on your tv.

Also , there is the fact that you can use the switch vr where ever you want and you're not stuck to be in the living room. Also you can pack up the vr equipment and bring it to any other place without any problems

PLEASE NOTE: For Toy-Con Bird, the game Bird is recommended for *Top Wing* (that TV show in where you had to use that Toy-Con for the game)! That's because a new episode airing of Top Wing (Top Wing Spring Fling/Dancing Daffodil Rescue) on Nick and Nintendo Labo VR Kit were released at the same date, so it is really meant to be Nintendo's answer to Top Wing so it could be Top Wing the Video Game Nintendo style.
Bird Dash is probably for use with Peep and the Big Wide World airings on PBS Kids
Ocean Camera may work well for Splash and Bubbles from PBS Kids.
I tried it at Best Buy today. It's astounding how it actually works.
I ordered myself a PlayStation VR bundle recently so I don't really feel like getting the Labo VR kit for my Switch.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some of these combined into new games. Imaging combining the robot backpack and VR goggles to walk around (robot arms wouldn’t be used for obvious reasons) in a 3D game. Using the foot straps and lean motion of the robot backpack to move.

When Nintendo works out how to overclock the screen to 72hz to ensure their users don't get motion sickness, and when Nintendo develops a lighthouse system with lighthouse compatible joy-con.
considering it's VR, you probably should have mentioned how the resolution and framerate hold up, as those being below a certain point can probably ruin immersion hard

I just feel like it had so much more potential, I love coming back to all the games and they're easily replayable but, I just wish they expanded on it and released entire labo be exclusive games and I really wish they included a headstrap, I get neck strain using the headset and I think they forgot the purpose of one.
