I know the feeling Kimberly. Christmas has never been the same since I lost my mother. She made Christmas so special. Every year on Christmas Eve should would give me a new pair of Christmas pajamas. I have kept that tradition alive for myself. Every year I buy my self a new pair of Christmas pajamas and wear them on Christmas Eve In her honor. Love the tips this time. I am busy knitting for people at work and friends. Hats, cowls and fingerless gloves.
It's such a hard thing, losing our Mothers. I feel her absence in every aspect of my life. Part of my deep grief was learning how to navigate life without her. It's been a process for sure. I may just go looking for happy pjs with my Marin when she comes home from school. Start a new tradition... what is your Mother's name? We will call it her tradition 🩷
@@Knit-A-Rainbow Florence She was my best friend. As I am sure your mother was yours. Can you please add Willis to your prayer bowl? He is having some serious health issues and I strongly believe in the power of prayers.
@@cheriefischer2994 I will for sure add Willis to my bowl. My great grandmother’s name was Florence (my Mother’s grandmother) and the Florence Jammies tradition has begun!! 🩷🩷🩷
I have felt ghd same way for the past 10 years after my mom passed away. It just wasn't Christmas anymore. The one thing (of really 3) that brought it back were the births of my 3 little grandchildren. Last year, watching their happiness and excitement finally made it feel like Christmas again.
My mother used to say that her grandchilden were her gifts from Heaven. Sounds like you had an incredible Mom like I did... my heart is hugging your hurt. 🩷
Thank you for the tips today! I know they will come in handy. I finished my daughter's Musselburgh hat yesterday so I went stash diving. I forgot I had an advent from Montana Crochet 2023 so I am starting the Quilted Cardigan! 😊
I am loving the longer sleeves. I am on a new medicine that either has me emotional or exhausted. It could be so much worse. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You’re the best. You have your mamas smile. ❤
@@Knit-A-Rainbow I feel you. I lost my mom unexpectedly in 2017 and I'm still having a hard time accepting it. Every time I lose someone else or a pet, it rips me apart again :(. I do look for signs though and appreciate her reminders that she is still with me.
@@karenjcardoza That is very true that when you experience loss again… the gaping wound of grief rips open. I read a poem not too long ago that really helped me: You don’t move on after loss, but you must move with. You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer her comfort. She is not the monster you first thought her to be. She is love. And she will walk with you now, stay with you now peacefully. If you let her. And on the days when your anger is high, remember why she came, Remember who she represents. Remember. Grief came to you my friend because love came first. Love came first. ―Donna Ashworth
I’m also figuring out how to do the holidays without my mom and husband. I lost both of them just 14 days ago apart from in 2023. The worst part is getting all of mom and dad’s estate settled.
Oh Janet I am so very sorry for your losses! It seems so cruel to have to settle an estate during the intense beginnings of grief. I'm thinking of you! 🤍

Hello! Thank you for being here!
Curious to see what you decide to use for the ribbing on the shawl. A different color could look intentional or like you ran out of yarn.
A great point Linda! I'm almost certain I am going to stick with a single color. 🩷
