    This is a great kit. Several of us carry this one on the trails. I have added a few things and switched out a few. I have went with CAT Tourniquets and a few more Israeli bandages, a few SAM splints and the one thing I think we need most that is not in the kit is stuff for burns. We are always around campfires and boiling water so I made sure this area was taking care of. I know your wife is in the medical field but please, everyone if you are not lucky to have someone like this with you make someone with you knows at least basic first aid. Also, there is a LOT of stuff in this kit (I have the advance) take an afternoon and go thru it make sure you know where each item is so you are not just digging around when each second can count. Sorry this post got long but I come from a military background and trust me it is better to have something like this and not need it then need it and not have it. Keep up the great videos and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

      And yes, not just first aid kit but ALLLL the gear we get! Learn to use them before going out. I had an issue with my ARB deflator cuz I never thought to practice with it and tried it for the first time when off roading and I almost broke a valve stem 🙄

    Loss of a limb is generally not common with tourniquet usage. So long as the pt is in the care of medics/hospital staff within 40-60 minutes of the TQ being applied, there is next to no risk of the TQ itself causing a need for amputation. The studies people cite often disregard the reason for the TQ being applied in the first place or disregard the environmental or contextual factors in which it was applied. Otherwise, great video and a highly informative tour of the product.

      Thanks! Funny thing is I made this video and then my wife saw it and basically schooled me like you did haha She works in the ER and has done her fair share of saving people from bleeding. In fact, we had a hemorrhage situation on a trip and you can actually see her in action (it's my Florida Adventure Trail Video titled Overlanding The F.A.T. Pt 3) Check it out!

    I am late to the party, but I ordered two MyFAK Pros with a load of extras that I know that I use regularly. I got one for each one of my rigs. I am liking this kit more after watching the video and think that I am going to get one for the rig that we adventure in more. It is another thing to carry and probably more than I will need, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    As a mine rescue member this kit is my new daily carry. Compact and easy to carry and I’ve added other tools and supplies I need based off of my job. Great kits and recommend to anyone. Of course I say get the training needed to use and deploy this level of aid. Some of this stuff is for well trained professionals only.

    Switch out that tourniquet for a CAT tourniquet or two. And replace those shears with some Leatherman Raptor shears. Sharp as heck, and multi-use(shears, ruler, ring cutter, carbide glass breaker) and they come with a holster you can attach to the outside utilizing the Molle webbing.

    Why is the “Recon” cheaper than the “the medic” bag but yet this one is bigger?

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be the contents and portability of the Medic one

    • @MyMedic
      @MyMedic ปีที่แล้ว

      The Recon is a lot smaller than the Medic. The Recon covers five to eight people, whereas the Medic covers eight plus!

    I don’t understand the whole loss of limb thing with tourniquets. First, it’s been disproven within reason. Second, most people would rather live minus a limb than die. Third, you shouldn’t be applying a tourniquet unless you can’t stop bleed with pressure so there shouldn’t be any argument. It’s very much a quick decision of pinch or die.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as loss of limb, my wife works in the ER as a PA and she told me losing a limb isn't ALWAYS the case as you have mentioned but it HAS happened. Lots of variables- how long the extremity has been cut off fr blood circulation, how bad the wound etc. but you're absolutely correct. If it was a choice for me I would rather lose a limb than die.

    I'm not sure why they went with a backpack as a carrying solution? I can't see any reason where you would want that much quantity of medical equipment but not be bringing a backpack or other means to transport medical equipment.
    Also some of the content just does not make sense for is for the style of bag. I would either change the name, or honestly just repack the bag with different contents. Anyone in a recon type situation would not be well suited with these medical supplies.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. However what I've done is I've had my wife carry the backpack and I carried our main items. I don't use this for backpacking trip but for day hikes like when we hiked the narrows

    • @bodan2512
      @bodan2512 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BaptismOverland I don't see why you would want to carry so much kit for what amounts to a 12 hour outing. For an overnight hiking trip we fit absolutely everything needed for two people in a 25L pack, besides a pouch the size of a large IFAK we mount to the outside. And even that's overkill. Having this much real estate would be for either mass casualties or the ultimate trauma kit. This is neither, and is almost tailored to more of hunters or the like.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bodan2512 when you are married to someone who works in the ER and you just don't know what might happen, we would rather overkill and not need than need and not have. Everyone has their own reasons. But it's not so bulky that it gets in the way. They have much bigger kits that I won't bring. I think this one is actually a good size for the trips we do. Nothing in here that is "specialized" trauma. It tackles breathing, bleeding, and bones mostly...a lot of which could happen on a hike.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bodan2512 if it's not for you guys and it's too much to carry, that's totally fine. As I said, everyone has their own process.

    Great video but dont spread the falsehood of having to use a turniquet means its going to be amputated. Short term use to get to the hospital has little to no effect when it comes to amputation. Dangerous to say that.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. I think I said possibility. I'll have to watch the video again to make sure. But you're 100% correct
      My wife is a physician assistant in the ER and she has told me before a tourniquet doesn't mean amputation.
