Repotting Mini-Phalaenopsis and Some Care Advice

Repotting a couple of the 8 Mini-Phals I bought a while ago chatting about growing them and their 'needs' as I go.

someone I know here in the US went to visit a Phal breeder in Taiwan. I was shocked to learn that they are on a 21 day watering cycle. Their plants are in moss and conditions in their facility are such that it takes exactly 18 days for the plants to dry.

If I had day temps year-round of 27-28C plus and good day lengths, then I could grow in moss too. My Phals will slow right down come Winter even in the house.

Great info, Roger. If I'd known all this 22 years ago, I would have not lost so many mini Phals. Took me a while to realise overwatering was killing them. Thanks for sharing!

For such large fleshy roots, it's surprising they rot so easily.

I bought some of those as well and doing good. I repotted to because needed it but they are coming along very well. Interesting rate on the or kids mini ones thank you.

I heard someone say that phals should be treated almost like cactii for watering needs, I found them hard to grow and now have only four, good video, thank you.

They need plenty of water and nutrients but also need to dry in between. The sorter the time to dry out the better and media needs to be adjusted to suit the conditions/environment so that can happen.
