Love seeing the mounted plants.
Thanks for the enjoyable Sunday chat Roger.
You're welcome.
I really enjoy the Sunday chats. I enjoyed seeing the mounted dendrobiums, too.
Thanks.
Love your Sunday chats so keep them coming Roger.
One a week as long as I'm not doing anything else.
Yes, I enjoy your Sunday chat! They are timely and usually cover orchids that are in my collection. 😊
Thanks.
I always look forward to your Sunday chats. Thank you Roger
Thanks - and you're welcome.
I like your Sunday chats! 🎉
Thanks.
Love your Sunday chats and all of your videos!
Thanks.
Still very enjoyable your Sunday chats. One on the list to watch every week.
Thanks.
Always enjoy Sunday chat! Thank you, Roger 💐.
Nice to see your mounted Dendrobiums are doing well 👍..... " Never ,never give up on Dendrobium plant !! ...."
The only one Den.Phal 🌱I have in my small collection, it always goes into dormancy during winter months .I assume daylight and lower indoor temperatures has something to do with it 🤷♀️. The 🌱 " wakes up " and start growing in April 😄 ,so I keep it growing and enjoying its blooms at the end of summer ....it is soo worth it!😊.
Dendrobiums cover the full range from continuous growers, drier in Winter, to full Winter rest and then warm to hot growers down to cool to cold growers. There's even full sun down to shady growers. And the hybrids just make life more complicated.

@@GrowingOrchidswithRoger Thank you 💐
Love the Sunday chats! Please be careful if you do decide to do the roof.
Thanks.
I enjoy your Sunday chats. It was good to see your mounted Dendrobiums. Chantaboon Sunrise was a favourite of mine but it died. 😔
Not one I'd heard of until Lynn gave the keikis to me. Looking forward to some blooms - maybe next year?
Nice chat. Thanks Roger.
Thanks - and you're welcome.
WooHoo!!
Actually, for an atrial fibrillator, you are looking very dapper. Love your chat re temperature y light y how it helps my perspective particularly re orchids. Mounts are not within the framework of my limitations though. All five of my paphs need repotting so your video was very to the point. Thanks so much for all that you do to inform!!!🤓🥳💜
I'm lucky so far - I have virtually no symptoms. I do need to 'pace' myself though as I can get tired quite easily.
Just leaving my first like and comment since you mentioned it at the end! I started collecting orchids 2 and a half years ago (my first being a dendrobium Jaqueline Thomas, I have……….more……than that now tho 🤣) and between you and miss orchid girl I have become capable of not only keeping several types alive, but managing to get flower spikes on almost all of them 😊 i started this hobby the day I left rehab, snd I honestly think it helped keep me from going back to heroin again ! Or I replaced one addiction with another hahahah. Anyway thank you! I listen to one of your videos atleast every day and I appreciate the work you do so much!!
There are several TH-camrs that have switched from abuse to orchids. Some say it was a form of 'rescue'.
Great chat
Thanks.
I’ve shared one of your Disa videos to the Devon orchid facebook page…
Thanks - there are some Disa growers in the Devon OS.
Check that that roof ain’t rotten first. It’s been leaking for a long time ! 😢
The structure of the shed is very good (as seen from the inside). The few small leaks are only in heavy rain and are where the existing felt is failing.
Yep all good stuff, Roger. I like it because you're just round the corner from me, so you are my "orchid guru," so to speak.
It is a shame about the Bournemouth Air show agreed. I did lose my keiki unfortunately. I still have a lot to learn from you, I think 😃👍 but 2 main plants I separated are still doing well, so not so bad. Can you answer me, when do you switch from a feed to bloom to a feed for growth & what products do you use? Another subject to maybe consider for you for a future video maybe? Yes weather is odd from a yellow weather warning to a few spots of rain. Great stuff buddy, keep it up & thanks for the info. 🙏👍
I'm currently using the MSU formula from the States as my main feed but will be switching to Akernes Rain Mix as soon as I can get hold of some. Both have everything in them in reasonable proportions. I also use CalMAG, Calcium Nitrate and Seaweed extract as additives. I have never used any form of 'bloom' feed but I will be using some on my Cymbidiums when we get closer to producing spikes - I have some Dyna-Gro 'Bloom' (3-12-6) specifically for that purpose.
Disappointing about the Disa vids but as you say, understandable. love the off the cuff chat, there is always some snippet of info to be gleaned if you listen for.
It's a bit of a 'trick'. If I did bullet-point style info vids, people will either watch because it's a subject they need or they won't watch at all. With my vids, you have to watch to find out if there's any info you need. All good fun.
I would like to see Dendrobiums video . Thanks already 😊
Probably mid-week.
Please don’t climb on the shed roof 😞🤣 That’s how accidents happen!
It's got to be done.
Dendrobium aphyllum is a veritable keiki machine, ‘would that’ all other Dendrobiums were the same ! 😊
Many Dendrobiums produce keikis instead of blooms when conditions are not quite right - careful what you wish for.
?
Sunday funday
My theory on the Brontosaurus.
That's the one.
34 C ! on the first of September (grow room)
31degrees in my kitchen 🥵
@@helenwilkinson2731 hasn't been this warm all summer
Eventually got up to 26C in the growroom - 22C in the house.
Anthocyanines cause reddish leaf color, yes?
Yes.
Can miltoniopsis grow mounted?
Yes - but they would need to be kept moist around the roots and would need high air humidity.
