- UpMap Install & FIRST Impression | Aprilia RS 660 (SK XIII)
Decided to tune/flash my RS 660 with the Aprilia race tune. There are a few options, however I decided to go with the UpMap. Check out the video to find out WHY I chose the UpMap vs the other options to tune the bike. This video is NOT a DIY, rather it focuses on my initial impression of the tune. There is alot more to performance than just peak horse power. You could improve mid range torque, which would significantly improve acceleration, but would do literally nothing to improve peak power figures. My guess is that the bike was fuel starved from the factory in the mid range for euro 5 compliance. My guess is that this tune corrects the fuel/air mix to produce more power at the cost of greater emissions.
Definitely have a feeling the air/fuel ratio was adjusted. I can smell the richness at times lol
Really liked the 660 RS and Tuono but all the problems and ecu updates scared me away. I turned around and bought a lightly preowned, mint condish Ducati Monster 2020 1000 miles with 3k worth of accessories including the Termignoni exhaust with mapping and 1st serive complete. I actually like the riding position better on the ducati but a sizable-feeling bike and not very lightweight.
Ducatis have their fair share of issues as well, but definitely sounds like you got a deal! I plan to own a Monster one day. Iconic piece of machinery for sure!
What map did you upload? Are there maps other than OEM for the stock exhaust? I’m in the same position as you seem to have been when posting this - stock pipe for now but will upgrade eventually. Interested in what options are there for the stock exhaust with this upmap system. Thanks!
Hey what’s up. Haven’t seen you post for a while. Hope you will answer this for me. I have a 2021 Tuono 660. Going to do the Up map with stock exhaust. Which one did you get. I see an option for stock exhaust and then race stock exhaust just a bit confused. Website says Race is for aftermarket exhaust only. Would appreciate any info. Thanks.

Did you have any issues with the "Urgent Service" light coming on after you installed the exhaust before installing the upmap? I have the RSV4 2023 with the SC project exhaust and the message comes up on my dash almost every other ride and I am being told the upmap will fix this issue.
Nope, I didn't get that message. Not familiar with the RSV4, but maybe the O2 sensors are loose?
Does it show that it’s been flashed after flashing it back to oem?and dit it solve the dead spot and quick shifter?
No clue if Aprilia can tell using their device. Does fix the deadspot issue and I felt the QS was a little smoother, but not a whole lot
I've heard all it does is improve throttle response hence why it feels faster doesn't really increase horsepower
Definitely just a lot of "talk" out there. Wish they would provide some graphs/data :/

What exhaust are you putting on? I get several compliments on my MIVV every time I ride.
MIVV is definitely a top contender :D
So you installed the US race tune and it didn’t move the turns signals to the running lights? I’ve heard multiple different things. Been wanting to do the same, map it stock and then get an exhaust later.
Yup, installed UC race tune where turn signals are still in stock mirrors. Check out my other video on whether you should keep the race map with a stock exhaust....might change your mind
I looked up CBC Motorsports for the cost and it looks to be around $500

How much was the upmap in comparison to the ECU flash that you would get from Aprilia?
Just curious because I am worried about the warranty remember I’ve got the 2022 RS660 Apex black with the best exhaust SC Project CRT-1 full titanium, with carbon fiber tip and Sprint filter.
Good news and bad news, if SC Project CRT-1 is a full exhaust system I'm fairly certain your warranty is already trashed. Bright side is you can get upmap or flash! From the research I've done replacing headers will typically relinquish the factory warranty (aside from buying the akro exhaust from dealer and having them upmap). Anyone, correct me if that info is misguided.
I was reassured by my dealer as long as the dealer does the exhaust that the warranty is not voided. You’re more than welcome to call Unique Superbikes in Miami Florida and ask that question ask for Kaylin and or Liu.

I was planning to do the install front start to finish, but footage was too dark (forgot to take off the ND filter). It is pretty straight forward and there are some DIYs. Literally plug and play. Price difference is only ~$100. Upmap is cheaper
Hey soo I’m kind of confused I want to put a mivv exhaust and tune but it’s might void the warranty even with there’s ecu flash it says on site it’s track only and will void warranty but there selling new rs660s with am exhausts and with tunes so I’m confused on that if I get it professionally done it voids the warranty sooo stuuuupiddd
yeahh it can be confusing. If you are in the states, it does not TECHNICALLY void the warranty, but dealers will probably give you flack for it. The RS660 they sell with the exhaust (Extrema) is a catted exhaust so tune is not needed. If you get the akra exhaust from the dealer, that one is also catted and won't void the warranty. Mivv is catless so you'll want to rune a tune. You could get an UpMap and flash it back to stock/change exhaust to stock if you need to make a warranty claim, but it is a hassle

If I have an MIVV exhaust, would the upmap work fine? Or do I have to select a specific option on upmap… I’ve never put something like this in a bike before.
Think of UpMap as a USB drive connected to the internet, which you'll plug into your bike and download a new map into it. You can choose from different maps the UpMap library has (do this from their app on your phone). You could use the standard aprilia race map with the MIVV, but I think Gabro Racing just released a custom map for the MIVV exhaust too

@@BenButler50 No worries brotha haha. Gabro uploads his maps to the UpMap database. So all available maps for the RS/Tuono can be found on the UpMap. You download/browse the maps using their app which connects to the UpMap device via bluetooth

Was so close to getting this bike, think it needs just a few more ponies....1000cc are kinda ridiculous.....130-150hp is the sweetspot on street
depends on what you want to do with the bike, but yeah at that HP, the Yamaha R6 or Ducati V2 would probably be better. But definitely not at the same comfort package the RS 660 comes with.
@@SK_XIII yeah the comfort isn't there on other bikes, I have the duke 890 but wind on long rides isn't fun......Aprilia has new version coming out not sure on specs

AF1 racing has links to UpMap graphs for the 660s, SC, Akra etc setups. They confirm what everyone here is saying, peak hp is up maybe 1hp, but it does 'fill in the mid' by up to 4hp they show
