My dad was put on donepezil about a year ago. The side effects, primarily diarrhea, were bad enough to stop the treatment. Last week we decided to try memantine. Fingers crossed!

We are awaiting an new MRI & PET scan this month to understand better what’s happening to my husband. He has bipolar disorder so his neurologist only felt he could take the Namenda. He’s been on it about a year. He definitely got better after the dr upped the dose but has experienced a recent increased cognitive decline. Once we get the test results we can discuss the medical options to see if he remains on it or not. Thank you for the educational video. I’m trying to learn everything I can to help my husband have the best life he can.

My mother is on both of these. She has done really well. She’s probably Stage 6 Alzheimer’s and the change in her was noticeable. She’s 88.
