    Keep researching and look after

Right now my Mother-in-love can’t care about eating at all. We took her to the ER on Sunday as she hadn’t eaten all day Saturday complaining about stomach ache. Low potassium, dehydrated and low blood sugar. Released. Monday a little better. Ate and took her meds. Tuesday no more eating☹️Today we had a home health aide in and she was rude to her. Thankful Hospice has now taken over and visited later. Apathy is real for her and I thought it was depression😔

Thank you so much for this video. I think my mom may have vascular dementia. Back in July she was totally fine and then she went to the hospital. I got her out of the hospital on July 4th and it's like somebody had switched to light on her ability to do things all of a sudden. She didn't know it was morning or night and I've had to go down to her house three times a day ever since to take care of her. Recently she started falling so we had to place her in a nursing home because the last time I found her at home she was laying on the floor holding her walker. I had taken her to a neurologist and he said from looking at her MRI he can tell she had previous strokes. These strokes were never diagnosed so they weren't the"big" strokes were you get paralyzed on one side but I think this may have caused her symptoms. Especially the part about it can come on suddenly because it was like one day she was mostly fine and the next day boom. Or could it be something else?

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. From what you're describing, it sounds like Vascular Dementia. Mini strokes can occur often and leave deficits that aren't as obvious as weakness on one side of the body. I've seen many patients with VD confuse or not be able to recognize day and night because the stroke affected the part of the brain that controls that.

I'm nearing my 3 year anniversary and I still have mild dementia that comes on then goes away, vertigo is another recurring problem that comes on whenever it feels like it . Very frustrating

Some interesting studies around the benefits of regular sauna use, given its benefit of improving blood flow.

Since vascular dementia is caused by a blood flow issue, any heart condition may impact good blood flow to the brain and cause this type of dementia.

My Loved one had a stroke over thirty years ago. Then he was diagnosed two years ago with Alzheimer’s as well as Vascular Dementia. Would that long ago stroke cause the vascular dementia?

It's hard to say, but I wouldn't rule it out. How is his heart? That could also contribute to vascular issues leading to Vascular Dementia.

Vascular dementia can also occur when someone has heart issues since that also affects blood supply to the brain.

The Bredesen protocol has cured Alzheimer’s. Has it shown to help with vascular dementia also?

As far as I know, it is only for Alzheimer's type dementia.

    Can't and don't . dont involves a choice.
Someone is still functioning so they can make a choice. Choice would be for example"I don't want to hang up my clothes"
With "can't" they are not able they are not engaged, While depression may create the apathy.
