Super clear tutorial for those of us just starting up with Reaper. I've felt a bit overwhelmed by the UI and had to this point felt simple/basic tasks were non-intuitive. This video got me on the right track, and I appreciate your help! Thanks
Just a friendly advice: If you create a track and hold "Control"in the keyboard, in the right side of the daw (where you get the tracks once you record) you can create a blank track with the lenght that you want. Then if you double-click you get the "Piano roll", and there you can put your notes easy and fast. Cheers! P.S: Sorry for my broken english, it's not my mother language , haha.
Thank you very much. Way back in the day I used to use a program that was super easy to drag samples into the track but that program has gone to hell. I like reaper but the one thing I miss is analog drum samples and an easy way to make drum lines. This is the best way for me so far.
Yeah, when you're adding samples in Reaper's sampler drag more sounds and assign each one to a key, it shows that option within the sampler. After you assign each drum sample to a key you can play it via MIDI controller or the sequencer that Reaper has built in as well.
Superb tutorial thank you, I have been trying to figure this out for a while, I was thinking I was going to have to download some random third party plugin to do this. Result!
reaper is actually as complex as pro tools n in some instances more complex than PT even though reaper's default theme looks like a beginners software with only a few options
thx so much, at last I understand how to make one... back then I very confused how to insert sounds in reaper coz its my first time... it's really helpful... 😂
Nope, see how the piece of midi track I use is only 4 beats long. You can just leave it separate from the next one and use different beats in each piece of the track.
The piano roll is just a visual for triggering that midi drum sample. You would need to setup a track using a virtual instrument like a piano to do that.
@@KleyDeJong gotcha thanks for the quick reply, could you possibly achieve that by loading the samples into a 3rd party sampler with that functionality?
I have a Roland Octapad, how can I assign only one note per track in Reaper with my samples using ReaSamplOmatic500 ? Because when I play the kick drum for example the snare sounds at the same time.
Nice video... but how do you add FX to the individual tracks after creating your beat. Do you convert them to audio tracks first, or you just apply FX directly to the midi files?
See 5:20 when I am dragging the little markers around on the timeline. So when you get to the chorus you would just change where those markers are for those bars.
Instead of turning down the "Volume" control in ReaSamplomatic VSTi, I recommend turning the Min Volume all the way down to "inf". This way, you can control the loudness of the sample with the Velocity in the MIDI Editor. I also recommend watching THIS video - th-cam.com/video/RJD7aNzSmO8/w-d-xo.html, which shows how do do this all in one track.
Hey man great video, I was wondering, is there a way to put multiple samples into one VST and control them all via a single piano roll? I'd like to write a sequence with all my drum sounds in it. Thanks!
Patricio Fernandez I know it’s late reply but still there’s way. If you have your own samples you can make a soundfont out of it and assign a sample to a particular note. You can use Polyphone to create sound fonts and Sforzando plugin to play them in reaper. Both are free.
So after you make this beat, is there anyway you can import it and sample the entire beat into a new project as it's own singular item or track? Just for the sake of a cleaner work load? Hopefully I explained myself properly.
Thank you for making this tutorial! I have a question: I have my sample imported but when I play a note on my virtual midi keyboard, I don't get any sound. What do I do?
one downer you go to fast..cannot follow where your arrow is going...have to keep scrolling back ...over again...next time ..dont get carried away ..you are a trainer in this video..and as a student ..i am trying to follow your teaching...massive ty for the samples tho..
With all honesty for your average home recording this is a real pain in the AAAASSSSS. Just give me a way to add a full drum beat and in library form drag and drop style.
woah, why do other DAWs make it so complicated? now i understand why fl studio is so popular.... easy as making shit and here everything is ugly and cluttered with too mmany clicks....

Is there a way to have all of my samples in one track, and set different notes on my keyboard to different samples?

Nice work man
Fantastic video
Can you reassign the piano roll to use different keys for different drums, like drum machines?
yea, you set the key at the note start and note end section and just keep adding reasamplomatics to the track =)
Dude i love you.
Very useful, thanks
THANK you so mica it really helped!
Youre very help.. thank you very much,,..
Any way to make this all be in one MIDI channel?
How can we get the velocity meter in the midi roll to affect the sample's volume per note? Thanks
that is possible with parameter control go check automation tutorials we can modify any knobs with reaper.

i want a more natural acoustic drum samples, not the electronic ones on Trystan's. where do you think i can find these?
Thanks man
thanks mahn
thank you a ton man
Is there a way to merge the tracks so that you don't have individual tracks for individual kinds of drums?
thnks very helping dude
can i like map different samples to a different midi key
do you have to use a diferent track to change the drum beat on the same song?
Nope, see how the piece of midi track I use is only 4 beats long. You can just leave it separate from the next one and use different beats in each piece of the track.
how come the pitch doesn't change with the different key presses and how do you set that up?

I read somewhere that no samples or plugins come with reaper but you say they do?
Anyone know how I can put multiple samples on my midi keyboard and still record them in separate tracks?
It was great. But I have the newest verson.can you please help me with this?
This unlocked some new doors for me, thank you so much!

hi , how to change tempo ?
Is there a way of importing a drum track from guitar pro and put it into reaper?
you can export the midi file from guitar pro and drop it into reaper
Thank you for making this tutorial! I have a question: I have my sample imported but when I play a note on my virtual midi keyboard, I don't get any sound. What do I do?
THATguy 22 make sure the track is armed for recording and make sure input monitoring is on. And track is selected and the sampler is the first effect
aaron holder thanks man
Alt+B doesn't work for making virtual midi keyboard visible. Any other way to do it? Thanks
Under the 'View' menu at the top of Reaper. Select 'Virtual MIDI Keyboard'.
Can u make a video on recording real drums cover and editing it plz....😊
What about with using Windows?
I am using windows 10
Where do I find the .dll files in your sample pack?
A .dll file is a VST plugin file. Lots of good free plugins here - bedroomproducersblog.com/free-vst-plugins/
where is the option to set tempo?
in project settings
thnx
and I also found it right infront below the track line it also has speed.

the biggest headache with this plugin it that it dose act with same timing across diff pitches, it is real troublesome the plugin is free though...
where do you get/download your sounds, like the kick drum and the snare sound?
Olav Fjelltun Link is in the description

Yeah, might as well just turn on the radio and get your music the easy way. Who has time to master a craft and learn skills.
My keyboard doesn't open.
JEUS cHRIST! wHY IS IT O HRD TO GET TARTED IN REAPER? FUCK IT, I, GONNA CHOOSE ABLETON INSTEAD
Wow that sucks ,I'll rather use some type of mpc vst to trigger samples in one space
Quality is terrible on that plugin! Don't!!! Especially when it comes to voices with 808bd's, it needs some work!!!
