      My dude, you ever seen that picture of a grandma with a rocket launcher? That's not an anomaly. That's like 90% of grandmothers. Mine got sick of squirrels eating from her bird feeders. So she bought a gun and started picking them off. No she didn't get a cat. She didn't get squirrel proof feeders. She went from zero to murder.

    Two fun facts:
    1. Hagfish do the most advanced Yoga to do what other animals do with jaws. To tear a junk of flesh from a carcass they turn their practically boneless body into a knot and push the knot against the carcass. To them, spineless (they have a chorda dorsalis, just not a fully developed spine) is not an insult, it's an approval of their badass yoga skills.
    2. Sea snakes can only survive in areas with rain. The reason for that is that they need to drink from the thin layer of fresh water that forms during heavy rain to survive. Some go for extended periods of time without water, but they still need to drink at some point.

    Swimming snakes rarely, if ever, bite humans. This goes for land snakes like cottonmouths, too. As long as they're in water, snakes just tend to be a lot less defensive. Maybe it's just because they can retreat much more easily in comparison to our ability to pursue them.

    • @bigsam8597
      @bigsam8597 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @Connor MacArthur Actually it's because they don't want to waste their venom on people. They like to use it for hunting prey, not defending themselves from danger. Also if a snake were to bite somebody, there's nothing stopping the person from just immediately stomping the snake to death. The person may still die, but their death will take longer.

      Unless they are in what I describe as a orgy ball…. A bunch of sea snakes with a bunch of males and (hopefully at least) one female. I saw this off the coast of Okinawa Japan, two broke off and chased my ass first to the nearest rock then to the shore. The only reason I think I beat/escaped them was because 1) I was scared for my life. 2) I had on flippers.

    Actually, humpback whales are probably the only animals orcas at least have a modicum of respect for. Humpback whales have been observed protecting other animals from orca attacks. And they're the one species orcas can't bully. One humpback whale survived a 4 hour orca attack. (That's some anime stuff right there.)
    I mean, orcas will attack them, bc orcas have no god and fear nothing, but with humpback whales, they know there's going to be problems.

      That's not true. In fact some poisons are stronger when water is added but that's a different discussion entirely.
      It has more to do with the types of venom/poison, the delivery system, what kind of animals they were designed to eat/defend against and chemical construction of the individual venom as well as what those individual chemicals would bind to if broken down.
      If anyone wants a full out lesson on poison and venom toxicity, their effects (the why and how) then feel free to contact me. I actually work with various poisons and venoms as a career. There's not just a difference between venomous and poisonous. But there's also synthetic and non synthetic (and that doesn't necessarily translate as lab made vs naturally occurring either), simple vs complex and compound/complex (as in chemically compound). And that's just getting into individual poisons. There's straight, compound/layered, complex, and multiple/prolonged if we're also including methodology. I do run an intro course at the local uni for both medical personnel and for people who are just interested though one is longer then the other due to the assumption that medical personnel will have at least a basic understanding of biology to begin with. I also run free correspondence course over email. Mostly because I love my job and enjoy discussing the science behind it.

    I found one of those parasites in a wild red snapper I bought from the local fish market once in Seattle. I kept it and took it to my environmental science class the next day. Classmates all thought I was effing nuts and asked me not to bring anything like that again while our teacher interrupted telling me "no please DO bring them in next time!". XD That class was fun and that parasite freaked me the hell out when I first found it cause it was still alive and moved. 😂😂😂
