    Just finished building it. Flies great, like you said, it likes speed. I had the elevons set at the same level of the wing and I was having to pull up quite a bit to stay level. Didn't know wings are normally set up with reflex. Adjusted it and all is well now. It will be a fun fpv platform

    • @lordofthewings4578
      @lordofthewings4578  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! I am glad you built it! Pretty nice, eh? Yeah wings need the reflex to act as a "downforce" on the "tail"(if there was one). This keep the center of lift constant with the center of gravity. If you look up "rcmodelreviews" he has a 2 part video on flying wing aerodynamics that explains a lot!
      Once again, Happy to hear you made it!

      Lord of the Wings I’m still flying this one. I’m just having trouble with esc’s giving out on me. It went down once with loss of control and the only thing I came up with is the 12a esc was too hot and it shut down. My spitfire done something similar but it still had control and battery voltage was fine. I immediately removed the 30a esc and put it on the wing thinking it would be plenty and was working fine for a few days. I went out flying again and noticed a hiccup in throttle while flying, brought it down and it started to stutter at low throttle but spinned up fine at higher throttle. I checked online they said it could be a bad solder or connection. I checked all of that and the motor for damage. I tired the esc on another motor and behaved the same way. I’m only using a 5x4 prop and half throttle most the time. I don’t see why the esc can’t keep up. I’m going to try my luck with a 50a esc and if that doesn’t work, look into an alternative motor (using dys 1806 2300kv right now)

    • @lordofthewings4578
      @lordofthewings4578  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats really odd pan tac, I am using the exact same motor and ESC and have had long runs of full throttle. What 12a esc are you running? I wouldn't go much larger than the 12a or an 18a on this wing as you do not want to load it down too much. maybe try a better quality esc? what battery connector? If you are running a red JST, you may want to upgrade to an XT30/XT60

    • @pantac4493
      @pantac4493 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lord of the Wings does your motor or esc ever get hot to the touch? I was using a HTIRC Hornet Series 12A Brushless ESC For RC Models from banggood. The heat seems to be less when I lower the camera power but shouldn’t have had to do that but it’s still pretty hot. On this wing, when I have the power setting at 200mw (tx03) on camera it’s fine until I move the servos and then the picture flickers or it turns off complete, doesn’t do that on the f959 and only difference is this being powered by a 3s battery. On my f959 I use full transmitting power for camera. Besides the f959, all my connectors are XT60. Idk I’ll keep trying, it’s a fun plane to fly

    • @lordofthewings4578
      @lordofthewings4578  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty fun, and easy to build, as you know. I am running a bl heli ESC. Sure it gets hot, but I get no surging or power issues. Keep at it, i'm sure you can figure it out. How is it to fly FPV? I haven't tried yet.

    Thanks for the idea. I am making mine 24" after all but am using a kfm4 wing style with steps top and bottom. It will be about 1 gram more this way but will be more stable at all speeds and I was able to achieve this by stripping the paper off the backsides of the step pieces and selectively cuting the paper off the main sheet 1 cm back from the joining point so that they overlap. I will post a link to my youtube page for the build once I am done.

    thanks for posting. some thoughts servos could be mounted closer to the cg and farther inboard; would increase stability. servos should be oriented at 90 degrees to hinge line. for less prop squeal, use a 'stiff' apc electric pusher or equivalent. (a prop that light cannot shine through) cheers

  • @AGGELIAFOROS

    Quite fast. You might get more progressive roll and yaw control by combining rotation of the wing tips with the elevons which can then be reduced in size
